The restaurant is beautiful with dramatic architectural touches. The table service was gracious and professional. I decided to have the tasting menu with wine pairings because it was too hard to decide! Everything was delicious and so fresh with unexpected but gorgeous flavor combinations. I especially loved the dessert and practically licked the bowl clean! I highly recommend this wonderful oasis of casual elegance with delectable and memorable flavors!

NOT TO BE MISSED! Possibly the best dinner we have ever had. The price was insanely good for the quality, I mean, like this back in California would have been four times the price. Every course of the Tasting Menu was a work of art, and more than 9 courses with the extra amuse bouche they included. It was almost too pretty to eat. The art was only surpassed by the flavor. The whole vibe was chic and comfortable (I wish my outdoor space at home looked exactly like this), and the service was impeccable. Everyone was friendly and kind, and seemed to genuinely happy to talk about the food and just to be there.

One of the most unique restaurants we have been to. Not only is the food presentation awesome, but the ambiance was also awesome. Highly recommended for a unique upscale dinner.

Beautiful atmosphere matched with a very friendly staff and an incredible special of homemade pasta! And a super creative and delicious appetizer of fried rice balls (see photo, it’s hard to believe!)

I struggle to recall a more beautiful, creative, and warm dining experience. The tasting menu was a magical experience, brought to life by our server, the owner's sister, who took time to enchant us with the details of each dish. I would recommend this without hesitation to anyone who appreciates delicious food and beautiful environments.

If someone has only one night in Holbox, then this is the restaurant that must try out. The atmosphere is exceptional, unique and very romantic. All the shapes of wooden roofs and lights present amazing moods. The food is phenomenal. Not only the taste of them but also the presentation is beautiful. It is not a huge restaurant, so make a reservation if you can. Visit when you are super hungry and try out as much food on the menu as possible. This restaurant is no doubt our best pick in Holbox. (Also the music choice of the restaurant is on point!! We followed their playlist already!)

Yelp
OMG this place is fabulous. I am a food snob from California and the Chef/Owner would make this be a top notch restaurant in Cali.... This was not expected in Mexico much less Holbox. Was not planning on eating here but with the warm welcoming and inviting smile of Claudia brought us right in. The ambiance and inviting atmosphere made this worth stopping. The presentation of the food was 5 . Everything on the menu looked amazing. The steak was perfect along with the fish. You cannot come to Holbox without giving this place a try.

Yelp
Chef Munoz sends delicious works of art out of his kitchen. If you are looking for a restaurant that is chef driven, cuisine focused with warm attentive service, this is it. We opted not to do the tasting menu so now after seeing the artistry and tasting the delicious food, we must go back. FYI- chef offers a vegan tasting menu if wanted. The patio is particularly charming but you will want a reservation.

Yelp
What a fabulous meal we had at this little place in Holbox! Claudia, in the front of the house, could not have been more adorable and charming. There's a small, open kitchen producing wonderful smells. The garden out back is like a tiny jewel box. We would have eaten there but it was raining. I won't get too much into food--it was very sophisticated and still entirely local--and wonderful--but the peanut mole was a revelation. Go there.

Yelp
Our dinner at Milpa was one of the best we had on Holbox. First of all, I'd like to just say how we were truly so impressed by the service (our waiter was Damiel) - it was comparable to the level of attention and professionalism you would expect from many fine dining restaurants in major cities in the US or Europe (and we're frequent Michelin Star diners). Kudos to the owner or whoever has trained the staff to be so courteous and attentive! The food here was very good, and we were genuinely impressed by the presentation and plating! Seriously - even my drink was beautiful! Before our meal even began we were served "welcome drinks" and a complimentary appetizer. Our only complaint was that our drinks were not very strong - but this has been our experience everywhere on the island.

Yelp
This is one of the BEST restaurants I've ever experienced in such a touristic locale. From the moment you arrive at this tiny oasis you will feel inspired, relaxed and so excited to see all the amazing dishes served to the other patrons. Each dish we tried was spectacular. The presentation is superb. For the quality of food and the execution you might easily expect to pay double the listed prices. Make a reservation, you can't afford not to dine at La Milpa.

Yelp
I came to visit friends who have been living in Chiquila (where the ferry boat leaves) for the past 6 months. They have also stayed on Holbox numerous times. They've tried a lot of the nicer restaurants on the island and recommended another spot that I ate at first. That place was good, but this place that they had been wanting to try, blew the 1st place away. This might have seriously been one of the best meals I've had this year anywhere and it cost me less than $20. It is one of the pricier options on Holbox, but when converting money it was so very worth it. It's around the corner from the main plaza and chances are you might never walk past it so keep your eyes peeled. I order a semi-local Mexican imperial stout that was super delicious. While waiting the server brought us some shot glass sized drinks of some kind of green stuff mixed with water. Quite refreshing. Also served with the meal were small bowls of some kind of soup. They were super tasty. I could have eaten 2 more bowls. Sadly, I also wasn't listening when the server told us what it was. I think the soup as well as rolls come with your entree. For my entree I got the shrimp with ancho chiles. It was a large number of head on shrimp covered in this amazing red sauce on a bed of potatoes. There was candied ancho chile on top as well as a zucchini on the side. Seriously delicious. Friends ordered the octopus and said it was excellent, one of the best versions they've had. I tried the kids fish and patatas...the fish was perfectly cooked and incredibly moist. I would have loved to stay for the dessert menu, but the mosquitos were terrible on the patio. They might want to run a couple of fans out there to combat the blood suckers. Other than the bugs, the meal was perfection. I can't wait to go back. FYI- the chef is from Mexico City and the food is quite creative with pea foam and others kinds of interesting playful foods. Casual fine dining. My favorite.

Yelp
Wow, don't even know where to start... it felt like five star restaurant in Paris! The chef is from Mexico City, he does immaculate job with good. I would never think that in small island you can find gourmet food like this.

Yelp
Go here now if you're a foodie! This place is as good a meal as I've had anywhere. This restaurant would be considered fantastic in any major city. The octopus with bacon bits and beer sauce is out of this world. This is fine dinning, not huge portions. Extremely affordable for what you get.

Yelp
Love this Island, but do not recommend this place, especially the octopus, they try way too hard with a fancy presentation, way overdone especially when the food is mediocre! So many other great places to eat!!

Yelp
This restaurant is a real gem in Holbox. It's a little off the beaten path but the food is absolutely worth it. The chef is incredibly talented and we were very pleased! Food looks and tastes amazing!

Yelp
My favorite restaurant on holbox First time I've been to holbox and stumbled onto Milpa--- small place with great attention to detail. Best dinner I've ever had -- the hostess made us feel welcome told us what to have: made it a great evening her partner the chef has a huge talent A great evening She's a true delight from Barcelona and he's from Mexico. I thoughT he had been trained in France wrong Mexico. They truly enjoy what they do and it shows!,!

Yelp
This is hands down the most unique modern Mexican meal I've ever experienced. With an unusual yet flavorful mix of ingredients it definitely stands out. We ordered the drunken octopus and it was amazing. This would be the place to eat an interesting taco for about 80 pesos.

Yelp

Yelp
Coming from New York means that restaurants need to be great to impress. This place was off the chart! Totally incredible food. Amazing presentation. Very, very creative. This has to be on your list. Be prepared to stick around as service is slow but excellent. One of the most incredible meals the 2 of us have had..... all for around 70 bucks.

Yelp
I love what Milpa is trying to do--places like Holbox need more variety and creativity in dining options. So points for that. But sadly the duck was really over-cooked to the point of being dry and tough. And the tlayuda my husband ordered was soggy not crisp--def not acceptable for this delicious dish. Dessert almost made up for those failures as both the chocolate 5 ways and the chocolate sphere were excellent. It felt like the chef was not in the house last night.

Yelp
The first course--a blue corn tortilla with various sauces etc was so tough it was impossible to cut with a knife and fork. The flavors were good but the texture was not up to par. We were wondering if we'd made a mistake coming here. However, the entree , a pork dish, was fabulous. The flavors were amazing and the pork very tender and delicious. We finished with a delightful chocolate dessert that would please even the most discerning chocoholic--ice cream inside a chocolate shell that was then melted with a warm chocolate sauce that had a nice ancho chile bite-- ummmm, sooo good!
