I've only stayed in Blumenau for only a week and wanted to try out a lot of the restaurants. Moinho do Vale is by far the best one that I've eaten at. The restaurant cooks really good German food and great pasta. They make great German sausages with sauerkraut, purple cabbage and the german mustards. They also cook a great drake. The potato salad is fantastic as is the risotto. There is always a pasta dish which is very good as well. On Saturdays, they have do a seafood buffet in addition which costs a little bit more but there are some great varieties of seafood plates. For dessert, they make a mean apple strudel and I have seen a blueberry pie as well which was absolutely fantastic. Beer-wise, they sell speciality beers (R$20 each) that are very good. I've only drank 3 of them but I want to go back and try all of them. Next time I come back to Blumenau, I will definitely drop by here again.

Well, the hotel referred this place to us. We were looking for a German cuisine once being in Blumenau. There was only 4 or 5 German dishes. The waiter was suffering of short memory. He was not focused on our table at all. I asked if they have pure malt beer and he promised to get the information for us. Now the adventure began. After take a long time to provide us the menu, he came back to get the order and didn't give us the information about the beer. So, I asked him about it. He then remember to tell us what he found out. He asked us if we would like to have a little appetizer to start with the beer. We agreed. We finished the first beer and it didn't come. I raised my hand and waved wildly to get his attention. He didn't see me but the busboy did. Finally we got it with the second beer and later on we got the meal with a dead fried fly. That was the most disgusting evening! We already have the meal on our plates we we noticed that. The waiter ordered another dish. We decided to take it and give to the taxi driver to have a nice dinner with his wife. A bill of 206 reais for two with a gentle fried fly. If you like cafeteria food at New York prices, you will love this restaurant. Amen! Ingrid.
