Restaurante Nuestra Tierra

Called in at this place after visiting the National Museum. It’s a bright interesting interior. The Food I’m not so sure. I’m sure my shrimp , which were a generous serve, were frozen for sure. Tough and very cold. Not cheap like a lot of tourist focused spots around town. We also hate it when the server pushes hard for an extra tip on top of the service charge. Beers are cold though.

After a long walk around downtown San José, we decided to have lunch at Restaurante Nuestra Tierra. We were welcomed with Caribbean music, and the manager even played maracas and invited us to join in, which created a fun and lively atmosphere from the start. The food was really good and we enjoyed it a lot, although I’m not very familiar with this type of cuisine, so there may be some personal bias. Still, it’s a place I would recommend if you’re looking for a Caribbean-style experience in the city. It’s also conveniently located in front of the National Museum, making it a great spot to rest after visiting the museum.

Had a delicious meal here along with a papaya shake. I ordered the Pacifica Fish, which was cooked to perfection and came with sides of rice and beans and Caribbean accompaniments. The atmosphere was festive and exotic, and the service was friendly. Great location, too.

This place as too fun. There was live music and they played familiar stuff with Costa Rican flair. We had to get up and sing you are my sunshine with them lol. Food was very good. Recommend the pork belly and guacamole.

Convenient food spot in the heart of san josé, perfect for museum visitors. For sure extra pricey for tourists. Would highly recommend the mix grilled boards

Great service and most authentic Costa Rican food we’ve had! The veggie cassado was lovely and portion sizes are quite big! We loved it so much we went back for a second time!

Unfortunately we went at restaurant in our last evening in San Jose and it couldn't have been more special and unique. The restaurant has an such an amazing atmosphere, the decoration is authentic.... the food surprise us positively, dishes with good potions and fair price. Well, and I couldn't even forget to grateful the waiters, they are incredibly friendly and kindle, and special thank to Enrique and Minor, you were excepcional and we can't wait to back to SJ and e hky more of nuestra Tierra experience.

Servicio/gratuity is included in the bill, don't give more money if the waiter says you can include a tip on top of that, scammed. Some food was ok, some was not that great. It is a bit of a tourist trap considering it looks nice, food is only ok, and waiter tricked us, prices are really high. I'm American but also native Costa Rican, I won't go back.
