Absolutely fabulous 😄 Location at old cathedral portal, extremely helpful staff (valuable recommendations), fast service. And the food was amazing (Cod bras, steak with beer creamy sauce deserve 5 stars 😋)

Complete and ulter disaster, the food was cold, not good. Dont go there, choose any other place to have a dinner.

Picked this place when visiting Coimbra for the dinner. Worth trying, I got myself a steak with an unusual pastry side, steak cooked perfectly, side was also great. Decent place for sure We didn’t try the wine but got ourselves some local beer instead, there are two taps: “normal beer” (quote) and dark one. Both were good, better than your regular SuperBock.

The restaurant is stylish and clean. Azulejos line some of the walls, and their is a beautiful large photo of Coimbra to decorate the restaurant. The staff is professional. The meal was our best in Portugal, better than more expensive restaurants in Lisbon. We very much enjoyed the pesto linguini with cherry tomatoes, and the grilled sea bass. Nicely presented. Highly recommended.

The food was great and in good quantity. The service was good. It's still a little pricey compared to other restaurants but the high quality food and high end atmosphere makes it worth it.

The host was incredibly rude. We came in and the restaurant was full, instead of telling us how long of a wait it would be he was just incredibly condescending, barely looked at us, and basically laughed us out of the place. You should take your business elsewhere.

Fado show at 20.30, nice service with nice food definitely recommend the steak and the rice, plus the cheese pudding

I wanted to try chanfana and got a recommendation for this place by local. I can just recommend it for this meal. Also salmon steak looked pretty good to me. A bit disadvantage is that it's probably more pricey as other places, probably mostly for locals that are from a big part students. The restaurant wasn't that full at dinner time when me and my friend visited the place.

Yelp
Great food, ambiance and service. I had veal and my wife had mushroom risotto. Best of all, the waiter recommended an outstanding red that paired well with both our meals - not easy considering what we ordered. This intimate restaurant should be on everyone's list when in Coimbra.

Yelp
Sometimes you just stumble into happiness. That was our almoço maravilhoso at O Trovado. 28SEP2017 Second lunch... Caido vinho braco regional Alentejo, 2015, €12.50 We each had one of the daily specials. Carne de Porco a Alentejo - pork ribs glazed with orange sauce, potatoes, rice. Another beautiful dish which Tracie devoured. Entracosto do Porco Prato com Amêijoas - chucks of stewed pork and many tiny clams, potatoes. A very traditional dish which looked spectacular and tasted great. I did leave a few small pieces of potatoes on the plate. Mousse de Chocolate - OK, not exciting. Desserts are a weak point here. Café and aguardente. €60.50 27SEP2017 It was afternoon and we had walked 8km (5 mi) around Coimbra and climbed up to its highest point: Penedo da Saudade. Tired and hungry, we seeking a relaxing lunch when we walked by this restaurant with 3 tables outside set with tablecloths and wine glasses. So, we stopped and walked inside to a quiet elegant dinning room. (We did not even check Yelp. We just entered.) Started with a light, refreshing vinho branco: Torre de Coimbra, Bairrada DOC 2016, €12.50. Tracie was dying for a salad so we ordered the Salad de Tomate which was a plate of red ripe sliced tomatoes, olive oil, vinegar and a sprinkling of dried oregano. Hit the spot. She had the Escalopes de Porco Champignons (€11). Pork cutlets with a velvety, rich mushroom sauce accompanied by rice and fries(!). Exactly what she wanted. I had the Rojões a Avorinho (€11). Braised, bbq, short ribs with potatoes, cabbage. Carmelized to perfection. I was very happy. Ate it all. Dessert was the house specialty of 3 custards and was the only disappointing item. OK, but bland. However, the coffee and aguardente made up for it. Out waiter really helped make the meal. + Cloth napkins + White tablecloths + Good Spanish flatware + Fancy wine glasses + Pleasent, upscale atmosphere + Spot on, friendly, expert service. + Wi-Fi + Credit cards accepted €54.50

Yelp
Yummy and unassuming at the top of the town near the cathedral. Seabass was great, tuna salad also good. Don't order the ice t.
