Lisbon Was Just Named the Best Culinary City Destination in Europe — Here Are Must-eat Places, According to a Local

"Find the best view in the city by heading out to Restaurante Ponto Final. It has excellent traditional Portuguese food, but there's one catch: You have to take a ferry to get there. But, again, you'll be rewarded with a stellar view of Lisbon from just across the bridge." - Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca is an award-winning journalist and co-founder of Be a Travel Writer, an online course for the next generation of travel journalists. We couldn't make a dinner reservation for several months in advance so we settled for 12:30 lunch time on Wednesday. Weather was perfect and we got a best table by the water. Amazing view of the bridge. Spicy shrimp was not spicy but extremely delicious. 10 large ones! Baked fish was amazing as well. Service was good and friendly. I can't even imagine how beautiful it is during sunset dinner.

Wow, wow and wow again. We really battled to find real authentic Portuguese food in Lisbon. One the last day we found Restaurante Ponto Final! You need to book though and getting though to them is a challenge! So just decided to go. Told that all the people without reservations can stand on the steps 😂 this is really not what would normally do.. but the wait was so worth it! They only open for lunch at 12 noon so go early if you did not book. We we 3rd in line and then asked to choose our table. We found a table away a-bit from the others and ended up to best the best! The food was absolutely delicious. As we were not in a hurry we ordered prawn done two different ways to start. We were amazing at the size of the portions- large enough as a main and totally delicious.. both of them!! This restaurant is a must if you ever find yourself in Lisbon

The food is good but it's the experience that is outstanding. The restaurant opens at 7pm which is perfect for catching an amazing sunset. Reservations are recommended, if you don't have one arrive early, 5:30pm and wait in the stairs until the restaurant opens and all reservations are seated. We were lucky to get a table with a view of the sunset.

Beautiful restaurant and atmosphere. We went for sunset and it was amazing, there was a very pretty view of the bridge. However, it is extremely difficult to get a table here. They are fully booked for lunch and dinner 4 months in advance. We waited over an hour to get a table inside. Staff seems overwhelmed with the volume. Food was good, but a little overpriced.

One of the most beautiful views and incredible dining experiences! Definitely make a reservation if you can. We made one for 7pm and were able to watch the sunset, they were very generous with the table dining time, we did not feel rushed. Get there early because you get to pick your own table once the staff confirms your reservation. There are two separate lines, one for walk ins and one for reservations. The food is delicious & fresh. Prices are reasonable considering the restaurant. I thought the prices would be steeper, pleasantly surprised! The staff was very attentive. 10/10!!

Reserved a table via email 2 months in advance for the spectacular view and both the food and view didn’t disappoint! We arrived 15 minutes prior to the restaurant opens, and there is no designated waiting area, so make sure you’re at the right queue. The earlier you go, the more likely you can secure a nice spot. Foodwise, the portion is very generous. The Dover sole and tomato rice are amazing! The staff were pretty friendly as well.

We did try to book reservation within the same day, but restaurant replied that booking wise they're booked well in advance. However, the option is to go there and wait for a table the be free, for this there is a waiting list created and the guys there will literally shout your name when a table is free. We went for this option and we waited for around 1 hour and something. Nevertheless the waiting time was with some drinks bought from the bar and a perfect view on the sunset. The stuff, what can I say....they are top notch, they work at an incredible fast pace to make everyone happy. The bartender was working on 3 types of drinks in the same time. The waiters were helpful it giving their advice on the orders, so they were really helpful. Was amazed about their professionalism and the fast pace they were doing things. Food wise, well, that's kind of average, buuut, considering the atmosphere and the location (by the river, perfect place for sunset, Lisbon view) it kind of goes as a package, food & atmosphere were great. Price wise, I would consider that is average, considering the location and everything linked to the experience. When back in Lisbon, for sure will re-visit the place. It is a unique experience recommended for a full experience in Lisbon!!

Excellent view. We had no reservations, they had us wait for like 30 min, then we were seated. The portions are huge, we had 2 main dishes and we unable to finish with a party of 2. It would be good to be able to choose the portion size. The shrimps were too many and a bit too salty but delicious. The cod fish was delicious as well but we couldn’t finish it cuz we were too full.
