Restaurante Sheriff Rustic

Beachfront dining is a treat for my wife and me, when we visit Samara, and, among the various available options, we have decided that this casual, moderately-priced restaurant is one of our favorites. Our food and beverages every visit (beer, cocktails, fish fillets, and spaghetti with shrimp during two visits during late March and early April) have excellent and ample, and we have enjoyed good service. Also: we have perceived during each of our visits that some of our fellow diners have been local people - not tourists only - which we judge to be a commendation.

Great food at a great price (for Samara at least). Their ceviche is one of my favorite things I ate all trip. We ate there twice on our one week trip because of that ceviche. Our favorite things were: Fish ceviche, the Casado with the whole Snapper, the fish fillet and shrimp in white sauce (soooo good) and the camarones al ajillo. Also, the spot has a perfect view of the beach. Great location for lunch or dinner after playing in the water.

Good food, good prices, good service, great location and view! Located right in the beach by the pier. Tico breakfast. Would come here again. Food is basic but good. Very casual. Pay at the register, not with the server. We sat quite a while not realizing this.

Had traditional nachos with shredded chicken. Very authentic with pinto beans and home made style tortilla chips. Cheese was limited, not like in Canada. Also had spaghetti with shrimps in white sauce that was fantastic, loaded with shrimp and the sauce was wonderful. Very reasonable prices..

Good beachside place with a standard assortment of Tico food that is well prepared. This is basically a soda with somewhat higher prices because of great location. The main downside of this place is that the staff are “stiff”. As has been mentioned by others, none of the servers or managers seem to enjoy being here or working with the customers. Not a smile anywhere.

Amazing atmosphere right down on the beach. Some of the food is questionable but the pancakes were amazing. Definitely recommend getting pancakes.

We had asked the owner of the hotel we were staying at if she had a recommendation for diner close by. She suggested the Sheriff Rustic and said the food was phenomenal. We walked over and our first thought was that it looked a bit run down. But the second the food touched our tongue we were hooked! The beefsteak Casado is the best one we've had in our 2 weeks of traveling around Costa Rica! The papaya water smoothies are sweet and thirst quenching. The beer is... Well, beer. We've been eating dinner here for the past three days and have no regrets!

The food was not that great. Burger and fries was so bad my daughter who loves burgers and fries did not even eat half of it. The fried fish was better but not that good. The view and the vibe of sitting outside by the water as the only good thing.
