Restaurante Sulumar

Of the thousands above thousands of people who get off of the cruise ships every day and decide to pass beyond the port shops , taking the $5 per person taxi, and come to the little town, most of them default to a well-known restaurant on the exact opposite end of where we go. But we default to. Sulumar so that my wife can have a nice one hour massage for the equivalent of about $35 or about 630 pesos currently and then we camp out with smoothies and soda and guacamole and maybe some freshly roasted fish. It’s a favorite place of ours and is less crowded but the quality is all there.

Ate here numerous times while in Mahahual because its ace. Ceviche and the guacamole highlights for us. We were recommended the spot by a local and it delivered - quiet, casual and delicious and great laidback staff. Come eat and chill

The food is excellent and very fresh. You can either eat on the beach or in the restaurant. They have excellent waiters - Rod in particular. Their prices are very reasonable. They own a friendly dog Nala who will come and sit under your table. She does not beg. Is excellent at retrieving coconuts if you throw them in the water.

I had cocteles de camaron mediano and the mrs had the nachos pollo. Huge plate of nachos. Very good, reasonable price. Beach just across the street.

The shrimp ceviche was delicious!! Our family also liked the tacos and burritos we ordered but the ceviche was our favorite. We enjoyed sitting at one of their tables on the beach 🏖️

Beach front. Simple Mexican restaurant. Cold drinks!

Had a great dinner. The most authentic place, excellent tacos and fajitas. The fish was also very tasty. The staff was amazing friendly and interacted with multiple locals. The beer was ice cold! In my opinion one of the best places on the beach.

It's hard to beat eating fresh seafood on the beach. Mahahual is an interesting town. There's lots of domestic and international tourists and tons of souvenir shops and restaurants right on the beach. At Sulumar I tried the mixed seafood ceviche with octopus and other goodies and also the sea conch with butter. Both servings were generous and the food tasted great. Definitely get a Margarita or at least a lemonade as it comes in a giant goblet. The local hot sauce they had on the tables was amazing. I recommend seating outside right on the beach. Service was great and super friendly. Definitely recommended!

The seafood rice and garlic lobster that my husband and I had was great. Our server Sergio treated us great and was so attentive. Definitely recommend.

Awesome fishing village resto. Eat fish, watch soccer, drink beer. Mature fisherman-type runs the place and is sharper and faster than your grandfather.
