The energy of this place is infectious — from the guys at the bread stand, one expertly rolling out fresh chapatis before passing them to the other to cook on the flat iron, to the man fearlessly tending to the huge flaming lassi and tandoori kitchen, where skewers of bright red chicken roast over the fire. It’s a great spot to sit and observe the action alone or enjoy a meal with friends.
I think I was the only “tourist” there — always a good sign when everyone else is local!
Service was exceptionally friendly and efficient. My polite waiter took my order of chili chicken, garlic butter naan, and plain biryani rice. Wanting the full experience, I asked for the chili chicken to be extra spicy.
Although the portions were easily enough for two, I still finished 95% of it — it was just too good to stop eating. The chili chicken was perfectly done, with whole spices, fresh green chilies, crisp green peppers, and tender cubes of marinated chicken. The tandoori chicken was everything you’d hope for — fragrant, zesty, and smoky — while the naan was light, soft, and fluffy.
Two small pots accompanied the meal: one with a rich, comforting daal and the other a sweetly spiced sauce — both excellent for dipping chicken, naan, and onions. I liked the daal so much that my kind waiter brought me a little more!
Famous for its clay pot biryani, the rice was indeed delicious and paired beautifully with the chili chicken.
Definitely a must-visit for anyone craving authentic flavors, a lively atmosphere, and outstanding tandoori.
