"Founded in 1954, La Cueva, in the seaside town of Barranquilla, gained renown as a favorite watering hole of some of Colombia’s most famous artists, writers, and intellectuals, most notably the so-called Barranquilla Group—which included Gabriel García Márquez—and painter Enrique Grau. All-night affairs were said to be equal parts pontification and house party, with a dollop of boogie. Today’s La Cueva serves a varied menu and invites visitors to relive the bohemian spirit of the artists who put this place on the map (some of their faces adorn a portrait that takes up an entire wall). Jazz bands play here on Wednesdays and Thursdays. By Travesías"

A very special restaurant away from the city center.
Attentive staff.
Great food. Talented bartender.
Romantic atmosphere (Though the music is too loud for hushed conversation).
I wouldn't hesitate to go again.

wORTH THE VISIT. they have a 1940 -50 vibe . a museum like salon for video and art shows. food is local and very well presented.service is non existent. prob best in the evening .watch your belongings . some patrons tried to pass as owners and distracted us. with some rude behavior and comments . the waitress waited till they were gone to tell us ,"que pena,un detalle q quiero q sepan .no son los propietarios".We already new this.

It's a very nice place. The only bad thing I found wasn't that the service was really bad. I have to wait more than 1/2 hours to place my order, and that is because I am asking for.

Really nice place! I really liked the food. It was probably the best food i had in Barranquilla. The atmosphere is not as tense as in other high end restaurants and really enjoyable. The Staff is really attentive and friendly. Me favorite for now.

I'm only here as a performer, invited by the Fundación la Cueva, so am not using the restaurant as such.

Nice culture experience.
This local restaurant is an icon for the local as a culture place where great thinker used to meet and discuss about culture, special events and about life.
From time to time are event about local icons around the history of Barranquilla or their special festivals such as de the Barranquilla Carnaval.
Food is good enough. Is a mix between local traditions and Arabic species.

My favorite place in Barranquilla! The food was excellent (those crab muelas changed my life) the fish rice was also delicious. The place has so much history and art. Also lots of live music. Can’t wait to visit again
