TL:DR - mediocre, overpriced food and poor service. Don’t go unless you’re on a cruise. The Windsong resort is designed to cater to cruise ship guests, which we were not. We put our names on the waitlist but they forgot about us. Finally sat us when we asked why we were getting skipped. Took about 15 min to get a waitress. The food was dropped off by someone else who offered to get crushed red pepper but it never came. Our sodas and waters were never refilled. The staff focuses on keeping the large tables of cruise guests happy. The kale salad was a mountain of kale drenched with store-bought dressing and sprinkled with a few sad, store-bought croutons. The quinoa and black bean salad was a weird, mushy and crunchy paste of uncooked quinoa mixed in mashed beans. Seriously, what kitchen doesn’t know that quinoa needs to be cooked. The pizza was okay. The only good thing about dinner was the seafood chowder.

Waitress avoided us like the plague. Didn’t check on us. Kept checking the table right next to us. Food was good, we ordered butter noodles for one of my kids, it is only a small bowl of noodles, no sides. Which we weren’t informed. Had we known, we would have ordered more for her to eat. Our alcohol beverage sat at the bar while our waitress walked around and did everything except grab our drinks. They sat at the bar for about 15 to 20 mins. I also had a hair in my food. I ordered fish and chips, the last bite had a hair in it. (Pictured.) Manager Did comp the fish and chips meal and gave us some dessert.

This place has nice, friendly staff and presents itself well enough, but that's about where it ends. Everything at our table seemed slightly undercooked and bland. I had the crab cakes which were horrendously overpriced. They were quite small, didn't have much flavor and were very oily. The rest of my table had fish and chips and had the same issues; undercooked and oily. Myself and others noted how cloudy/dirty the glassware was, so I did refrain from drinking the water. I had hoped the homemade root beer on tap was going to be better, but unfortunately that was disappointing as well. It also rubs me the wrong way that there is no continental breakfast at this lodging due to the restaurant being on site.

Most overpriced and mediocre breakfast we have had in Alaska. Definitely read the low-star reviews first so you know what to expect from your dining experience if you decide to eat here. The 1-star reviews are accurate: overpriced and horrible food!! Wish we had read the reviews before eating here. Service was subpar, it took a while for someone to acknowledge us at our table. No spoons with coffee, and had to ask twice for cream. When our waitress asked how everything was, she was told the pancakes were lukewarm, she couldn’t get away from our table fast enough. A decent waitress would address the issue. We were surprised by the additional “remote location fee.” We’ve been all over Alaska multiple times over the past few years and we have never seen such a fee. This place is not “remote”, it’s in Seward a tourist destination.

Oh my! This was the best meal the three of us have had on our trip to Alaska! We are plant-based and occasionally eat seafood. There were lots of good options for us in the menu. The setting is FABULOUS! Service was great.

Google
This is a 3.5 star rating. We had both dinner and the breakfast buffet at Resurrection Roadhouse. Enjoyed dinner with a nice salad and fish entree as well as decadent dessert. Service was good. Returned for breakfast and this was less spectacular with ho-hum scrambled eggs, pancakes, yogurt and oatmeal with toppings. Service was OK, but mostly serve yourself. Must say that the views out the windows was spectacular though. Glad that there was at least another dining option close by and also a shuttle into Seward.

Google
The atmosphere was as expected and service was adequate. Our waitress was friendly and did a decent job. The only reason I said decent instead of great is because she was willing to serve food that was sub par. While we enjoyed the charcuterie board before dinner, my partners Halibut fish and chips was way more than “golden brown” leaning towards not quite burnt. My boulliabaise was mostly tomato/onion based broth and had a total of 1 mouthful of whatever whitefish was in it, 1 mussel and 2 butter clams. Seriously lacking in the “Alaskan seafood.” We were first clients on opening for dinner so it’s not like they were running out of it. Also, if you go to the bar before dinner be prepared to close out the tab as it does not transfer over to the restaurant. We were also surprised by an additional “remote location fee.” We’ve been all over Alaska multiple times and for many years and have never seen such a fee. This place is not at all “remote” by Alaska standards. Over all, based on the prices ($280 for 2 people) and quality of our food, we would not come back.

If you are seated next to the window or on the patio, you'll have a nice view. Food is alright but nothing to rave about. Service is good. If you're lucky enough to have nice weather in the morning, this is a decent breakfast spot.

Yelp
We made reservations for dinner to show up early, and we were able to get in since it was dead. It took forever to get service to find an unpleasant waitress helping us. 2 people ordered drinks, and the rest had water. When she came back to take our food order again unhappy and short. I then decided to go to the bar to order a drink and noticed she was coming back with our drinks. After that she was nice. The meals were 2 burgers. 1 was mediym as is. 1 was MW with just meat cheese and fries. I had to tell her a couple times, just those items which also meant no bread. Then the special pasta and the rock fish.

Yelp
Food- Came for breakfast. Expensive but the whole state is. I asked for over easy, received sunny side up. Smoked salmon was DRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. English muffin not even warm enough to melt the butter. Tables were empty so not like they were busy. Service- very slllllloooooooowwwwwwww. Did I mention slow? Yep, we almost left due to the kitchen being slow- sat down at 8am. Received food at 8:22am The waitress was slow. Never got asked if I wanted anything to drink or needed any condiments with my breakfast. My hubby had to ask the waitress for my water which was cloudy as heck but all the other waters when brought out were clear. Won't be back.

Shirin P.

Yelp
Food was decent but nothing to brag about. Got a table outside and ordered a couple of fish dishes. Salmon and halibut. Everything tasted as they're supposed to but again nothing to go crazy for. The table next door ordered the nachos which I can't get out of head. Calling the nachos HUGE is an understatement. I wish we could go back so I could order the nachos. Our sever was helpful and friendly and the view from the patio is gorgeous. Definitely recommend this place if you're in the area to visit or hike the Exit glacier.

Yelp
Stopped by for a couple of drinks before walking back to our hotel. Place has a real Alaska feel to it with all the wood and stone fireplace. Walk through the lobby and dining area to get to the bar. Very nice bar set up. We sat at bar and enjoyed talking with the bartender. They have a pretty extensive selection of craft draft beer. Good selection of liquors. Nice place to unwind after a day in Seward.

Yelp
Ordered tomato soup and it was oily and had rotten vegetables! Would not recommend this place!

Cristina X.

Yelp
Nice set-up with 360 Mountain View and art work on all the walls. Service was not good - our waitress was impatient to answer our questions for the menu during dinner. The next morning another waitress forgot to serve us water. Food is good but portions are small - we really like the root veggie salad and salmon main dish. Nice restaurant but feel a bit too commercial.

Grace B.

Yelp
Brussels sprouts very tasty but it's not hot served. It will taste great if they serve it when it's hot. The halibut is very tasty and serves right away when it's done. Steak frites is a little bit cold and tough.

Lisa M.

Yelp
Best sit down breakfast in Seward!!! Definitely would recommend but make sure to get a reservation.

Sanjali P.

Yelp
The salmon here was really dry. The service was really slow for breakfast, but EXCELLENT during dinner. I loved our waitress for dinner, she was amazing and had great recommendations. The beer here is also good and the seating on the patio was beautiful. Good spot close to glacier exit. Beet salad here is fantastic. Halibut was the better fish dish between the two. Salmon was dry. Dessert was good. Smoke salmon bites were okay.

Tammy N.

Yelp
So disappointed in the food. We ordered the nachos with steak and the cheese sauce was like paste and came to our table cold. We had to pay an extra 16 dollars to add steak to our nachos and there was only about 10 pieces. The kids had cheeseburgers and fries, definitely to much salt on the fries. When we left another couple left at the same time and shared their disappointment in the food too.

Joe P.

Yelp
Food was not good, cold and salty with every dish that was ordered. Service was subpar

Tonya C.

Yelp
Food selection is limited. We were with our son (22) who prefers traditional burgers or pizza. We did get a stripped down burger, but very over priced for a plain burger in my opinion. I got the seafood chowder with was VERY good. It was a good size bowl and was my dinner. They served it without a spoon and took asking twice to get one. Soup should have been warmer. The potato in it was almost cold. The location is spectacular with the Mountain View's. I would go back for the chowder in a heartbeat

Yelp
Stayed at Windsong for 2 nights so we ate dinner 1 night at the Roadhouse. We got super lucky and found a table in the bar about 30 minutes before our scheduled reservation. So, I gave my reservation to someone else. Anyways... like everywhere else I've been... they are running short staffed so be patient .... just sit back and relax. I love that their wine list by the glass has 2 sizes.... 6oz or 9oz pours. We got the large ones since it had been a long day. ha! We were pretty hungry so we ordered all sorts of stuff... soups to start and then shared the 1/2 size beet salad with chicken, cauliflower tempura and crab cakes. All of it was great! Hit the spot for my mom and I who were exhausted from a full day of 'adventuring'. Note... I think they gave us a whole head of cauliflower. The cauliflower "appetizer" is huge so take note if you get that as an app. I highly recommend reservations.

Erin B.

Yelp
We had a really great dinner here last night. Nice atmosphere with an amazing view of the mountains and some great artwork on the walls. My husband had one of their pizza's and my mom and I split a salad and the seafood puttanesca. Food was delicious. Service was fast and great.

Jordan L.

Yelp
We came here a couple times while in Seward. Breakfast was delicious with soft French toast and salty home potatoes. For evening appetizers we got the beef skewers and salad. Dinner was delicious as well - chicken burger is yummy and I loved their fries (note that they are not super crispy). We finished dinner with lava cake which was delicious!

Everett W.

Yelp
Waiters have no sense of urgency to care for guests. Watch out for food poisoning as well. Root beer is supposed to be specialty but was lacking. Wouldnt recommend. Only thing going for it was the cool mountains.

Lon H.

Yelp
Ordered a medium roadhouse burger with chips. Salad and soup came after 45mins only after prompting. 1st burger was well done and came with fries instead. 2nd burger was well done and came with chips. 3rd burger (pictured) was medium rare and came with chips. Do not order the burger. Outdoor seating had bugs but waiter (Jacob) didn't allow switching tables. Only managed to switch after asking another waiter (Forest). Service was slow and could be better. Will not recommend this place.

Yelp
Gayle and I recently stayed for 3 nights at the Windsong Lodge. The Resurrection Road House is right next door, and this is where we enjoyed 3 breakfasts and 1 supper. This place is pretty much out by its lonesome, so for us, this became our meal choice by default if we were already settled at the Hotel. The Resurrection Roadhouse is an attractive and large lodge-type building, which has spacious dining areas and a separate bar space. It has large windows for scenery and great light. Because of all the post-COVID related staffing issues, getting a seat at a table and/or the timing of food from the kitchen was sometimes a little slow. However, the staff that served us working very hard and professionally. In other words, a generous tip was always appropriate. Tip 1: If offered at breakfast, go for the buffet as that speeds your meal up and takes pressure off of the Kitchen. Tip 2: You're in Alaska. Think "Island Economy" meaning that restaurant prices are higher than you might expect. As for the food, that was very good, whether that included omelets, and American Breakfast combination, or a nice Halibut dish for dinner. Please not that if you want some variety for dinner, the nearby (and walkable) Salmon Bake provides and excellent alternative.

Wayne S.

Yelp
On vacation with my lover and wanted to get some halibut before leaving the state. I was not disappointed. We both got the grilled with polenta and beets. Interesting combo but it worked. The blueberry cobbler is their best dessert. Our service was good but they seemed a little short staffed when we were there. It took some time for the food which isn't a problem for us since we prefer the European style of eating which occurs for a longer duration than the typical American dinner.

Shikha H.

Yelp
Definitely recommend this place. We were almost going to skip this place considering the less number of reviews but glad we didn't. I had the pacific black cod which was grilled and served on a plate of veggies which was delicious. Some other dishes we tried were the fish and chips, crab cakes which were great too. Great service, food and vibe! However our friends tried their Root and Stems dish which was a bit of a disappointment.

Matt K.

Yelp
Fish and chips weren't very good. Batter was soft and soggy. Fries were also soft. The whole plate kinda presented itself like it was microwaved. Disappointing for the price, but your options are somewhat limited in town. Service was great though.

GoatWard G.

Yelp
Chowder was the best my husband has had, our meal portions were small not overly impressive to me or my husband

Beth W.

Yelp
Ordered the half roadhouse salad and smoked chicken to split with another person. The salad was fresh, however the smoked chicken was not as described. The description was smoked half chicken with crispy fingerling potatoes, blistered cherry tomatoes, chicken gravy and roasted seasonal vegetables. Instead of cherry tomatoes and seasonal vegetables and chicken gravy, we received olives and pickles that were sliced in a way to look like potatoes and zucchini. There are no cherry tomatoes on this dish and very limited fingerling potatoes. It was a pretty small portion to share so by the time I took my 2 bites of chicken and bit into an olive that I thought was a potato, the plate was gone. Wish they would have just told me they were out of the ingredients to make the dish but had the chicken. When I told the staff the menu was incorrect, no apology was given, probably because we ate it all. I would not recommend this dish at all, it was not good.

Carol F.

Yelp
Large and noisy. Overcooked meat. The waitress was honest and said "no, you can't get it cooked the way you want - it's easier in them to cook everything the same way.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed at the Windsong Lodge and the room was fine, but the restaurant at the location (Resurrection Roadhouse) was terrible! We walked into the restaurant to find the bearded male host (possibly Bulgarian) playing with his cell phone and barely looked up to acknowledge us. He sat us by an open door and we asked to move because of all the mosquitoes and little white seedlings or Dandy Lion-type things floating around outside and blowing into the restaurant. The guy said there were no mosquitoes in Alaska. Really!? I told him I just killed one in our room. (I would later kill 3 more in our room later that night.) Our waitress was BECKY from Florida. No smiles from her either. We had the smoked salmon sandwich and lemon rosemary chicken bone-in. The sandwich had lemon aioli and we should have asked for it plain. It was not good. The bread was stale. The chicken had a strange, bitter gravy on it too, plus the chicken was dry. BECKY later came back and asked how our food was and we mentioned how the aioli and gravy were not what we expected and she made no effort to make it better. She then brought our check and had no additional questions or comments. I forgot what the meals cost, but I'm sure it was pricey and definitely not worth it. I would later stop by the lobby for something and mentioned to the clerk (ERIC) that our dinner was awful at the Resurrection Roadhouse. He asked why and I told him. ERIC wanted to make our visit a pleasant one and offered us two breakfast buffet comps for the next morning. We gladly accepted his very generous and gracious offer. Props to ERIC! The next morning, we went to the breakfast buffet at Resurrection Roadhouse. The selection was decent, but more importantly, the hot dishes (scrambled eggs, sausage and French Toast) were lukewarm at best. I even tried selecting from the bottom of the trays, in hopes of finding hotter or warmer foods, but no luck. We were almost done eating when we noticed the heating candle burners that were underneath each tray of food were not lit. We mentioned it to a waitress who then lit all the candle burners. At least the people eating after us were able to have hot dishes! The cold dishes of sliced fresh fruits were not cold either. They weren't on ice, only in trays and were more on the side of being room-temperature. The pastries were dry, hard and stale. The 1-Star rating was for the eating experiences at the Resurrection Roadhouse. Not the Windsong Lodge. I would give the lodge 5-Stars. Our room was more than satisfactory. The lodging portion was very pleasant from ERIC in the lobby to DAN, the shuttle driver that gave me a lift from the lobby back to our room. It was a long walk and I have a bad back. Kudos to ERIC and DAN! If we should ever stay at the Windsong Lodge again, we will go into town and eat at one of the restaurants there instead.

Yelp
When I walked in, the warm decor brought back great memories from my last visit years ago. We had prompt friendly service, which is always nice, especially after a long day of travel. We weren't in the mood for full entrees, so we shared the chowder, nachos with pork, and salad. We're were full and satisfied.

Erin M.

Yelp
Wow! Hands down THE best meal I have had in a long time. Upon walking in, my brother and I noticed the whole esthetic of this place is top notch. We both ordered the halibut and it was the best halibut I have had in Alaska (and I'm from here)! The staff was polite and well trained. The desert was the perfect ending to an evening I will remember for years to come. Thank you for making our night memorable and above all DELICIOUS;) Keep up the good work staff and management!

Shōn D.

Yelp
May 30 2021 (Wife and I) Had the Dry Aged 14 Oz Ribeye and Cauliflower Tempura. Steak cost $46, was way overpriced. Steak was dry and nearly tasteless. Cauliflower Tempura was decent. They didn't have their Salmon dip with bread this time, super disappointed. Last year (August 2020), the steak was perfect and juicy and they had awesome Salmon Dip Not a good meal this time!!

Deb L.

Yelp
Located at the windsong hotel property! Fabulous restaurant had breakfast and dinner several times! Staff was fun! Definitely recommend

Yelp
Summary: decent food, but poor service with a wrong order, long wait, and an oddly rude server Jacob. Visit: July 2, 2022, 6:45 to 8:25 PM. Party of 5. Pros: - Most of the food was decent. Seafood chowder, Roadhouse salad, Exit Glacier pizza were 3.5/5. - The manager recognized and apologized for the issues we faced and compensated part of our order (see below). Cons: - We initially sat outside but asked if we could move inside after the mosquitoes started swarming us. Our server Jacob was strangely unaccommodating and rejected our request outright, apparently because we "ordered a pizza" and therefore can't move indoors. We had to ask another server, Matt, who was very kind and helped us move indoors without hesitation. - We waited 45 minutes after ordering and nothing came out, not even the salad or soup, until prompting the server. (Ordered at 7, waited till 7:45.) Then all the food came out within 15 mins. Does it take 45 min to make a salad and soup that was probably sitting in a pot? - One person ordered a medium Roadhouse burger with chips, instead he first got a well done burger with fries which was sent back. The second time they got the chips right, but the burger was still well done - they brought it out in 5 mins so we were skeptical anyway. The third time they finally presented a medium rare burger which was still not what was ordered but we didn't want to wait any longer so we took it. I guess they don't know how to make a medium burger... - The chips were a little too salty. - The seafood chowder came out warm. Overall two star experience: food 3.5/5, value 2/5, service 1/5. I would not recommend coming here, or if possible, avoid the server Jacob. And definitely avoid the burger if you want anything less than well done as it has been complained about multiple times. There are too many better options here (e.g. Salmon Bake down the road) to allow this restaurant to leave a sour note on your otherwise pleasant vacation.

Hannah M.

Yelp
The convenience of this restaurant is one of its only redeeming factors. Otherwise, it is overpriced and underwhelming in both flavor and food quality. Waitstaff is kind. Breakfast was odd (voucher vs no voucher). Eggs Benedict was over salted. Breakfast buffet is good for a person with a large appetite to get your moneys worth. Drinks are expensive - would recommend Breeze Inn for better beers and more local vibe. Would recommend Rays (though long wait) for similarly overpriced food, but with a better view.

Joe P.

Yelp
They are ending the cruise season but running out of cranberry juice for a Cosmo seemed odd. Our server was good but the food could have been hotter. All 8 of our entrees were lukewarm at best.

Cherilyn I.

Yelp
Great service and the food was delicious! We dined in the first night that we stayed at Seward Windsong Lodge and got takeout twice after that. The salmon and the seafood chowder were the best!

claudia a.

Yelp
Stayed at the hotel and breakfast, lunch and dinner. The location and view from the restaurant are breathtaking. The service during all our meals was superb. The kitchen does close down between lunch and dinner. Bar opens at 4 and dinner starts at 5pm

Xinyue L.

Yelp
Super slow and poor service; they also probably need a new chef. Understandable that staff is short but when you give an estimated wait time to be seated of 5min, it's unacceptable that it turns out 20min+. Not to mention getting water served, taking order, each step took that long even after calling service multiple times. If the food was good then the above might be justified; unfortunately that wasn't the case. Salmon was over cooked and very dry. One person from my party had less than half of the fish and fries she ordered and didn't want to box the remainder. Would definitely not recommend. Update: changed from 1 star to 3 after a few more days of traveling in Alaska: I guess overall Alaska just doesn't have good food/service so this restaurant can actually be considered average.

Ken B.

Yelp
Really nice atmosphere and views. The wine was very cheap, they forgot our appetizers, and the food was not warm. Not worth the money. I do not enjoy writing bad reviews however I was quite disappointed.

Ethan A.

Yelp
Decent food, ordered the salmon and salad, nothing particularly good. Service was a bit slow.

Derric B.

Yelp
Overall disappointing experience. Of all the restaurants we frequented during our week in Alaska this was our least favorite (but also one of the priciest). We were a party of six and our food and cocktails were all hit and miss. Had to send two entrees and two cocktails back. Overpriced. Underwhelming service. They did virtually nothing to even try to make it up ... but did add an automatic 20% gratuity to the bill. View is nice but that's about it. Do yourself a favor and skip it.

Keith C.

Yelp
Excellent food. The halibut was prepared perfectly- the best we had in Alaska. Our server, Kathleen, was outstanding.

Tom P.

Yelp
Wonderful seafood chowder, & smoked salmon! Very nice outdoor deck for the sunny days that Alaska has. Our friends had the deserts & enjoyed the lava cake & berry cobbler

R P.

Yelp
Found this place to be loud when we entered tonight. We were seated in the main dining area and informed it was the quietest area they had. After looking at the menu we requested to see the bar menu and were informed we had to be seated in the loud bar area. Originally seated to stay away from the noise we were told to move to the bar and we could order but would be required to leave the building if we did not wish to be in the bar.

Emily S.

Yelp
I was surprised that this establishment did not rank higher on many lists for restaurants in Seward. I had my best meal here in Alaska since arriving in Anchorage 6 days ago. The menu has something for everyone and does not rely on deep fried preparations. We ordered their smoked rock cornish hen with fingerling potatoes and a sautéed halibut with picked beets. Both dishes were out of this world. With a wonderful outside deck area and log cabin-inspired dining room with views of the mountains of adjacent Exit Glacier Area the ambiance couldn't be better. They were very busy the night we went but the hospitality and attentiveness of the staff made the time pass quickly. Do give this somewhat hidden gem on the Kenai Peninsula a try.

Gwen M.

Yelp
I'd love to comment on the food but I guess they don't know how to serve a group of 5 people. Last night I tried to make a reservation for 7 pm for my family of 5 & was told nothing was available until 8:45 pm. Okay, I originally understood until I saw others from our tour (who didn't make reservations days beforehand!) walk out with content faces. They must have been groups of 2-3... After walking to 1/3 mile to the delicious Salmon Bake restaurant, I stopped back in the Resurrection Roadhouse to make a reservation for tonight. The employee didn't even look down at her books: "either before 5 or after 9 for 5 people." Evidence of how they care for their guests... We'll go into town and spend our money there...

S M.

Yelp
I tried to take current labor shortages and supply issues in mind. However, multiple food items were found to be unavailable after we placed our order(s) and waited several minutes in between reorders to correct said shortcomings. Orders finally came, but had to ask for simple condiments. Checks came at the end of our meal which included items that we ordered but did not receive. Staff was unapologetic. Will not be coming back to this establishment.

Stacey C.

Yelp
Fancy restaurant but not so fancy food. The halibut tasted like rubber, hence over cooked. The "bed of Argula" consisted of four pieces and four red beats. The cauliflower steak and veggies were very limp yet again very over cooked. Nothing had any flavor at all.

Nicole B.

Yelp
Just wasted $22 on the worst burger I've ever had! Stale bread, my rare burger came out beyond well done (no wonder it took so long for a to-go order), the meat was flavorless and dry, and even the fries were awful! Don't waste your money! There are plenty of better choices in town.

Chris S.

Yelp
I am conflicted about this review. My wife enjoyed her soup and salad. The cocktails were ok. My wife had the lemonade and I had the mojito. Would we order the same drink again, not likely. The main issue for me, I wanted fish and chips. I am an Alaska resident, I know good fish and chips. I know fresh fish and chips. I spent the extra to get the halibut fish and chips. $36. The fries were good but borderline too salty. The halibut was mushy. Like, pink salmon during the spawn mushy. Halibut is flaky and firm. This was flaky and mush. Could it have been the fish, mmmm maybe. Could it have been frozen too long? Maybe. Could it have been boiled? A strong possibility. Too say I was disappointed is an understatement. $100 for a drink and a dinner each? And for one to be mush? We will not be eating here again. Sorry. Too much disappointment. A Saturday during the summer and this is what you serve? No thanks.

Pat A.

Yelp
We stopped here for supper after hiking to Exit Glacier. It was a gorgeous evening and they have a fabulous deck with the best views you'll ever find while eating. The food was also quite good; I had a good clam chowder (could've used less pepper, but I often think that) and an excellent salad. My husband had a good (not great) burger. It was good enough and reasonably priced by Alaska standards so that we went back the next night. Then we had a pizza and it was excellent. Honestly, it's worth it just for the view, but the food was very good overall also.
