Retro Hostel

This hostel is on the edge of the Old Town, with the remnants of the south wall to its side. There's a very cool common room in the basement, down some very steep stairs, also a sauna, but I didn't use it. The kitchen, a bedroom and lobby are on the ground floor and the rest of the bedrooms are upstairs. There's no lift. My bed was comfortable, there was a bathroom in the dorm. I used the wifi in the dorm and in the common room - strong signals in both. Access to the room and to the hostel itself are by a code which they send you, but the host was there quite a lot of the time - he seemed pretty helpful.

I arrived in Cluj- Napoca with just a screen shot of the location of the Hostel. I was able to get in contact with the host Ciprian who came to meet me at the door that evening. I was very impressed with his quick response and his knowledge of the local area. His willingness to assist and help everyone in the hostel is second to none. I reserved a private room for 3 nights thus far. For the price you really cant beat it. It is about 150 lei for a private room and 1-100 for a dorm. Private room has a wardrobe tv and a decent little bed and chairs to do work at. Nice window with a view of the old town street. There is a nice little kitchen with tea and coffee and a sauna in the basement which is a necessity after a long night of partying at the Flying Circus. There is a perfect communal hall in the basement with tv, records and tables to get together at. A great place to meet friends and be close to the Christmas markets, bars and cafes. This City is a vibe and i want to thank the host Ciprian and all the amazing people I have met while staying here.

I love the environment; it is a place made for young travelers, with favorable conditions for socializing in the 'living room' with free coffee and everything. The host, Ciprian, is very nice, and I hope to see him again one day. The location is perfect; it's in the old city, a bit off, but there's a supermarket close by, and you can join free tours around Cluj or some specialized tours for a fee. I enjoyed it, and I recommend staying here if you are an adventurer.

Quiet and spacious rooms. Great sauna access. Receptionist was always helpful. No dramas with self check in.

The mattresses are old and gross, the room didn’t seem to have been cleaned. We got bites of some sort during the night. I almost had the feeling that the sheets hadn’t been changed. The only good thing about this place is the location. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this place.

Very prompt reply! Clean room! No bed bugs! Shower is strong Very central! The guy who helped me is super awesome! He told me where to go etc! Easy to get to the airport with the buses! Don’t wait! Just book!

A very clean and well run hostel. The manager helped us with booking transport and was very understanding and helpful. We were prescribed a room though that was under the roof space, and while clean and comfortable, it lacked bedside lights and had a very low ceiling 😂. The check-in desk if often left unattended but this isn't much of a problem. The place felt a little cramped, but you could also phrase it as cosy :) it even has a sauna in the basement! Very nice place!

Nice hostel. Clean - they emptied the garbage & picked up dirty towels. The garbage in the kitchen was emptied. The kitchen is small but well equipped. The room & bathroom were tiny, but I knew this before I came. The man at the front desk was kind and helpful & I could not have received better service! One night I did get up at 4:48 am when the people next door came in b/c the walls are paper thin. The email with the door code was sent while I was on the plane here, so I had a problem getting in. There is someone at the front desk only in the mornings, but he was kind and helped me with a taxi to the airport when my phone was not working. The hostel is in a very central location & there is a supermarket just a few minutes away. There are also restaurants & places to get coffee. I had a comfortable stay here.
