How to Plan a Ski Trip to Revelstoke Mountain Resort in British Columbia

"Nicknamed “Pow Town,” this mountain claims the most vertical feet in North America and an average of about 34 feet (over 400 inches) of snow yearly; it offers a 5,620-foot vertical descent (the largest in North America) and North America’s longest ski run at 9.4 miles. The terrain is expansive (about 3,121 acres) with long runs rather than many short ones: of 75 named runs, 12 percent are beginner (green), 43 percent intermediate (blue), and 45 percent advanced (black). There’s an abundance of ridge traverses, wide-open bowls, glades, and local powder stashes, plus intermediate progression terrain, a dedicated beginner area, cat- and heli-skiing options, and guided backcountry tours. Art is integrated into the experience — you can ski through a gallery of 22 pieces made from recycled skis and snowboards — and programming includes kids’ lessons, adult lessons (including a “Cat Heli Prep” class), and a First Tracks experience for early-chair fresh runs. Laura Meggs, the communications manager, sums up the mountain’s character: "We have two personalities here. We're known for the extreme, so a lot of our terrain mimics the backcountry, and that's why people love coming here," and she adds, "I think the terrain and the snow are what bring people back for sure, but the part of the puzzle you can't really put your finger on is the community." Lydia Syme with the local tourism office emphasizes the town connection and culture: "Our history is rooted in the industry, most notably railway and forestry. Canadian Pacific Railway trains still roll right through town ... For a small town, our culinary experiences rival those in the city, and our coffee culture is second to none. All of this is bolstered by our deep and unwavering relationship with mountain sports." - Evie Carrick Evie Carrick Evie Carrick is a writer and editor who’s lived in five countries and visited well over 50. How to Ski the Powder Highway in Canada

"Boasts the most vertical in North America and has a rugged feel with chutes and bowls up top and beginner-friendly terrain near the base; the nearby town is described as picturesque and charming. A major on-site development, Cabot Revelstoke, will sit right at the base of the ski area when it opens in 2026. Access: just under a two-hour drive west from the previous stop (and reachable on its own via Kelowna International Airport, about a 2.5-hour drive). 4 Best Ski Passes Worth the Investment This Winter

Great time on the pipe coaster and the new suspension bridge is a nice and easy 0.5km hike from the upper gondola. The restaurant at the top has good food and amazing views. Buy the 3-attraction Adventure Pass online the day before for best value, you can then do the suspension bridge and both of the pipe coaster tracks.

The new mini suspension bridge offers great views. Gravel trails make it tough for strollers. Pipe Mountain Coaster was fun with a short wait. I gave it 3 stars. There isn’t much for a family looking to sightsee.

First time visiting this place and we came from Edmonton. We purchased the 3 adventure pass cause I wanted to try the sightseeing, the coaster ride and the aerial place. The view was nice and cold, took a lot of pictures there. The coaster ride was nice actually, and apparently track 1 is best (you’ll just have to find out why) and the aerial was fun and tiring. Will definitely come back cause I haven’t really explored the small commons there

The Revelation Gondola at Revelstoke was amazing! Our kids had tons of fun riding up through the trees and onto the Glacier View Deck, where we all took in jaw-dropping glacier views. It’s a perfect family-friendly experience with breathtaking scenery and easy access.

The pipe Coaster was a major highlight of our road trip. The gondal right to the top of the mountain was very scenic and felt like an additional experience on top of the coaster. Staff prioritized safety which was highly appreciated. My suggestion if you are going with a group is to put the faster riders (or who you think will be faster) and have them go first. Or when the light turns green for you to go, wait another minute. That way the person in front won't slow you down. Highly recommend this experience.

The Revelation Gondolas in Revelstoke was great, even though we did not go all the way up. The site from way up was really marvelous, despite the wildfire smoke clouding the air. It is worth the price of admission to go up into the high heights of Revelstoke. I hope to come back again.

What a beautiful mountain. We took the gondola to the very top. Spectacular views! The new high line trail with a viewpoint and suspension bridge were worth the trip up. Going back for some hiking this week.

It quickly became my favourite ski resort after the first run! Got two days for free with my Grouse Mountain Y2Play pass effortlessly, and quite kind staff and super supportive helping me with maps and lift access for my first time. Can’t wait to go back next season for an early ride!
