extremely cool little shopping building in the middle of chinatown!! there are a bunch of vintage/retro stores that are super thoughtfully curated. the shops were kind of reminiscent of all the best parts of nakano broadway in tokyo if you've ever been. the bookstore was also really cool to see and very instagrammable lol

If Korea has Starfield Library, then KL has this! 😉 It may not be as tall or as spectacular as Starfield, but it definitely has its own vibe and coolness. The design is charming, and the atmosphere feels unique — a great spot to take photos or just chill while browsing through books. If I may add a little suggestion: it would be so much nicer if the management could install an air-conditioning system. That way, exploring the whole area would be way more comfortable — especially during KL’s hot and humid days. 🥵 Still, I really love how this place celebrates creativity and reading culture. 📖 A must-visit spot for book lovers or anyone who enjoys unique public spaces!

Very unique place. I believe it’s located in the old cinema! Down it has several places to eat as well as drinks and coffee. And on higher levels it has antique shop with vintage pieces. And more on top it has this labyrinth looking book store. It’s a bit hot inside the book store, but I’ve never been to such a place so I would go again! I really liked the idea of a “blind date with a book” - you can get a book wrapped with just a few sentences to explain what it is about, but you don’t know either the name, nor the authors.

I love their overall building, with a lot of vendors and all of them are very aesthetic. If u looking for vintage store that sells vintage stuffs you should come here. Expect the high crowds on the weekends, since this is been a very popular place nowadays for young people.

Reformed from old cinema. G/F: ex- concourse of the cinema. Food court is behind the staircase. Packed. Nails from a construction site torn my shirt. 1/F: retail shops. 2/F: a kind of gallery, fee payable. Look like a cinema. Didn't enter there. 3/F: a photogenic bookshop. Attractive site. Toilets are available, free of charge.

A lot going on in a relatively small space which is why it's totally worth a peek. Hand-craft stalls, a coffee roaster, a bike shop, niche eateries, an experience theatre, a book excess shop, a collectible shop, rooftop dining and more. Something for everyone, young and old!

REXKL is a creative and cultural hub repurposed from the historic Rex Cinema, located at Jalan Sultan in Chinatown, Kuala Lumpur. It blends heritage architecture (old cinema hall structure) with modern creative energy—bookstores, cafes, bars, retail boutiques, art galleries, event/workshop spaces—making it a lively spot for hanging out, discovering local indie brands, or attending cultural events. Visitors love its design and atmosphere: it offers lots of Instagram-worthy corners, a cozy maze-like bookstore (BookXcess), and frequent live performances, flea markets, exhibitions, and immersive shows (like REXPERIENCE).

Nice interior to take pictures but it was so crowded when we went (Monday morning) so it's tough to get a relaxed quiet vibe if that's what you're expecting visiting a bookstore. But definitely worth visiting especially if you like art scenes. Got cool posters for 3 RM for souvenir, which I imagine is hard to find in other parts of KL
