Reykjavik Downtown HI Hostel

I love this place. Clean rooms, with large in-suite bathrooms. Super friendly staff, they are super helpful. After the airline delayed my luggage and had it shipped here, they reassured me they would sign for it and receive it. I really like their separate kitchen and lounge area, perfect for when you want to have a quiet dinner and just chill, read or study.

Quiet hostel, warm and cozy. Beds were decent, thought shower was a bit dirty. Lock boxes were decent size, and laundry service wasn't too expensive. Staff were very nice and accommodating. Not close to many things in the city, but close enough that it isn't a struggle to get places. Only complaint was that the fire alarm went off four times in the night, and nobody came to room to say what was happening. Unfortunate, but overall stay was nice.

This was a great experience. Super friendly reception. Thoughtful amenities. Immaculately clean and organized. I appreciated the little details, like the hairdryer, spot to swap unwanted items, and the devoted cubby space with outlets that runs the top of the bed. I also loved that the kitchen/common area is in a separate building (very close); I was up late and I loved not worrying about waking people up. The breakfast costs extra but was quite delicious. Overall the vibe here was clean, calm, and thoughtful.

Super friendly and helpful staff! The room is spacious. Toilet is clean. Complimentary breakfast is adequate and yummy! The only drawback is the not-so-clean bed sheet. You may ask for change if you really can't accept it.

I liked the layout of the room - snagged a spot on the far end by the window so there was a lot of privacy because there's walls between bunks. Bathroom was spacious, but older. Laundry was expensive and they don't rent locks, only sell them. Bring small luggage sized locks as the larger combo ones are slightly too big for the lockers.

Great hostel. Clean, comfy and convenient! I stayed at girls’ dorm for 3 nights. Although there were 10 people in a room, we didn’t bother each other. There are lockers in the room to store the valuables. It’s close to the bus station no.4 where all the pickups for tours happen. The common area is nice also with good music and lighting. The kitchen is big and has everything I needed. Overall, good experience!

The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. The breakfast was simple but filling. The kitchen facilities were also clean, well organized, and well stocked. It is also wonderfully located right downtown. Everything we wanted to see was about a 10 minute walk away max. All in all it was a perfect place to begin our stay in Iceland.

Excellent hostel! Within a 10 minute walk of most museums, groceries, coffee, city hall, bus stops etc. Staff were super helpful with storing bags, booking shuttles and tours, local advice. . . Loved the location and room set up (I only had 3 other people in my room). Everything was clean and simple. Didn’t mind having to walk a bit as you get a much better price and to see more of the city. Would highly recommend 👍🏻👍🏻
