"For a low-maintenance, high-style lodging in the very heart of the Icelandic capital it’s hard to improve on the Reykjavík Residence Apartment Hotel. Its units are distributed among a small handful of buildings (including the former Prime Minister’s residence) just one street to the north of Laugavegur, the city’s main shopping avenue, and is within walking distance of the vast majority of this compact city’s sights — and, crucially for a self-catering apartment-style hotel, its restaurants. Even the studios are spacious enough, with kitchenettes and en-suite baths, and the suites and apartments spread out to more conventionally residential dimensions." - Tablet Hotels

What a phenomenal experience! From check in to check out, our stay was comfortable, warm, safe, and memorable. Sandra was able to accommodate an early check-in, and that was a kind and generous start to a lovely stay. All of the little touches in the room—milk, juice, cereal, coffee, heated floors, the towel warmer, individual comforters for each person on the double beds!—provided small but significant luxuries. The only thing that did not work at all was the phone app for the room key. A physical key is definitely the way to go. And coat hooks near the front door would be super helpful. We made the right move on our first trip to Iceland to stay in a hotel so that we could get help navigating and have a place to store our luggage as needed. Raul was so helpful and kind when we needed to call a taxi. Sandra‘s professionalism, kindness, and excellent suggestions about how to live like a local made our trip truly unforgettable. She is an absolute gem! We look forward to returning to Reykjavík and can’t wait to stay here again!

We had a really nice stay at this hotel. We stayed here twice during our trip. The first time we lucked out and our superior room was in the main hotel- it was larger, the bathroom was amazing with really great space, storage and hot water. Everything was very clean and well organized. It was the perfect amount of space for the 3 of us. It was also very convenient to the best part of Laugavegur street. The second time we checked in- we were put in another building called the tannery. It was very beautiful- the furnishings were comfortable, it was clean and well laid out. This hotel however was a little small for 3 people- the bathroom had the teeniest sink and there was not enough room in the bedroom for two people’s luggage. There was no closet to hang out coats or put our boots. The bathroom products were l’occitane which was really nice and all rooms had lotion which during the winter was very thoughtful. The location of the main hotel was also ideal while the tannery was a 2 minute walk from the check in desk outside which was a little inconvenient on both ends of our trip. Overall I would 100% stay here again but if asked for special requests- I would recommend asking if they can accommodate you in the main hotel.

This place deserves 10 stars. Our experience was so good, we decided to extended our stay instead of traveling around the island. The room was very clean and spacious. The bedding was premium and very comfortable. The bathroom was very clean, and also spacious. The kitchen also had everything you need for a quick fix. They have a small fridge, and a dishwasher. The room had a steamer and a blow dryer. I was traveling with my daughter and we always felt safe. The staff was very professional, I can’t say enough good things about them and specially Miguel. They made our trip better with their kindness and professionalism. We got completely breakfast goodies in the room and bread delivered to our door every morning. The location was also perfect. Walkable, quiet during speeding hours despite the construction, we were not disrupted. I recommend staying at Reykjavik Residence Apartment Hotel 100%.

We stayed in the Prime Minister's Residence building, a beautiful building. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable, with a great shower. We loved the daily vegetable in our breakfast basket along with the usuals. It was quiet when we stayed, and in a good location. There was a ramp to the front door, and good accessibility in the bathroom. Due to extreme weather, it looked possible that we'd need to stay an extra night, and Reception was very helpful. There were a couple of minor let-downs. When we first arrived, late at night, our phones wouldn't open our apartment door. When I called for help, I was told to go to reception for a key. As a disabled person, this would've been very difficult if not for my husband being with me. The kitchen space is tiny and was a struggle to use effectively. I also wasn't a fan of the fresh bread, it had a very distinct taste.

This place was wonderful! Staff were friendly, accommodations clean new tastefully decorated and roomy for our family of five. Bath products top notch. Even milk and juice in fridge made easy breakfast before departure for our kids. Location could not have been more perfect. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed our stay in our studio suite in the Embassy building, room 301, very much. The room was plenty spacious for the 2 of us during our 3 night stay. The room was clean and well decorated and the bed was very comfortable. It had a nice kitchen area which included a microwave, toaster, coffee maker and plenty of plates, bowls and utensils. The location couldn't be better right in the center of everything, yet the room was totally quiet. The concierge service in arranging transportation was very helpful and much appreciated. The daily breakfast was delicious and satisfying. |The only issue we had was with the shower. The slanted roof line in this top floor room made standing up under the shower impossible. I am over 6 feet tall, but even my wife who is 5ft 6, had difficulty showering. If you are over 5 1/2 feet tall, you will want to request a different room. Also, this room is up a flight of stairs, so it wouldn't be suitable for anyone not able to climb stairs.

My second time staying with Reykjavik Residence hotel. I had a great experience in 2017 and decided to stay with them again on my 2025 trip. The service was as excellent as I remembered and the rooms were comfortable as well. We were two couples and had a family suite with 1 king bed in the main room and another king in a separate room. The bathroom was in the main room. We had a table and small effecient kitchen to cook on if we wanted. We were in the Printers Building and it was a perfect location- 2 blocks off the main walking street. We also were close to the harbor and kept running down to the Sun Voyager to check for northern lights. All around great stay!

Very good overall experience until check out today. Confirmed late check out twice at 12:30 and was a total of 13 minutes late from then getting out of the room because of having to unexpectedly go to the airport 2 hours in total to exchange a rental car with 3 young children. Management told me that check out was 12 and 12:30 impossible because they never allow that late. When I politely said there must be a miscommunication because that’s what we were told and that we were actively loading the car she said “good. get out quickly because housekeeping is waiting.” she did not offer to help or have any sympathy for the situation. then 3 housekeepers entered the room and began working not waiting. the property is pleasant and well situated, but the front desk doesn’t seem to want to be in a service industry and will act like you are no longer an important guest out if you are delayed and blame you aggressively. I won’t stay here again. I will also recommend that physician moms who have enjoyed this property in my travel group consider my negative experience leaving. No one wants to spend lots of money on a large unit to be treated like crap. How about a helping hand instead?
