Nice place just very difficult to find, accidently went to a residential area before finding this place. There were signs all over saying it was private so we got the impression it happened often. Little bit dark in the kitchen as well as a random step that could be dangerous

Generally very bad. First of all, they did not tell us where to collect the key. We ask a neighbor. The key was collected in another town 5 minutes away. Then the woman gave us a map to get home like that a child drew. On the wall of our room there was a box of electrical cables The sheets were very old and very worn. The window was not very airtight and it was cold and damp. Although it was not winter we had to turn on the heating. In the kitchen all the utensils were very old and not very clean. Also the glasses and cups were all different XD. In the window of a door there was a giant cobweb with a very fat spider, which indicates that it is not cleaned often. In the bathroom he was not very careful either. For example the shower had a plastic connection and it looked like a cheap offer. The front door did not close properly and opened by itself. The cleanliness throughout the house was very superficial and there was a musty smell throughout the house. One night it cost us € 130 for two people. We have felt totally scammed, because also the photos they have on the Internet and on Booking do not correspond to the place where we stayed

Clean, cute. However, the shower wasn't working. Toilet did not flush. Blinds broken. Old, soft mattress. Significantly ovepriced for what you get.

This hostel was our least favorite of all of the places we stayed in iceland. Check-in was a bit of a pain, you have to drive to a different location to check-in and parking is extremely limited at the house for how many guests were there the night we stayed. Not sure if it was a very busy night, or what happened but it seemed to be way too many people for the space and only one shower for the entire house. I would estimate there was about 10-12 adults in the house, with only one shower and two toilets (one being in the shower room). We couldn't figure out how to work the furnace in the bedroom so we were cold all night (September), and there was no working blow dryer. When I asked about the blow dryer the evening we stayed they responded saying they were unable to resolve the issue. I would HIGHLY recommend eating at Thorbergssetur restaurant/museum just down the road, one of the best meals the whole trip!

We have been very happy, staying one night in room 1, at Katrin and Hjalmar’s place of Ekra!! |The view would have been amazing, had it not been for the fog that day. |The room itself is tastful, modern, and has all the feel of a superior room of a high-end class hotel. |The beds are great and the bathroom is just wonderful, with a very nice shower! |Being just 11 km from Vatnajökul this is the perfect place to start or end (or both) an adventorous day. |The information received a couple of days ahead of our stay was precise and with exactly the information needed. |Remember to bring your own breakfast: the room comes with a tiny fridge to hold milk/skyr/butter and there is a kettle and coffee/tea available.|We can only recommend this place!

Room looked a bit different from the pictures. And the overal building is quite out dated. How and where to check in was unclear. You have to drive 2,6km further.. Made a call and they helped me out though. The front door kept locking itself, so we were lucky there were other people in the house. Bedroomdoors are extremely loud, you can't close and lock them silently so we were woken up by people a lot and we probably woke other people up as well. Location is very nice though, with a mountain with 2 waterfalls as background.

Convenient location for visiting Jökulsárlón, as we joined the ice cave tour in the next morning. There is restaurant 1km away where is the check in reception. But if you want to cook, please buy the food before you, there is no supermarket nearby. The house is good for 6 people, the house is a little bit old but facility are in good condition. The view and environment is excellent too, there is a waterfall at the back, it's really rare to have such view. We had enjoyed silent night with northern light!

For this place, the check in location differed from the property location. After visiting the glaciers, I didn't realize that this place was so close to where I was visiting and missed it completely driving all the way to Hofn. There aren't many properties in the area so it can be missed with a blink of an eye. The good thing was that the check in location had a restaurant so I didn't have to go far for dinner. Once at the guesthouse, there were lots of places to hang things. The room was clean and had crisp sheets. There was no place to put your shampoo or soap in the shower, no bathmat so it can be slippery when you exit the shower because the shower level was level with the floor and the floor was wet. You can hear all the sounds in the guesthouse throughout the night and there was only one outlet in the room. All single rooms are on the 2nd floor so you do need to do stairs. The bed was a very narrow single bed. For the price, this guesthouse was on the high end, but did not provide high end service.
