On the Grid : Royal Hibernian Academy

"Another great addition to the Dublin art scene, the RHA was originally set up by a collection of artists who were interested in developing, affirming and challenging the public’s perception of the visual arts. Providing workshops, lectures and exhibitions on a regular basis they continue to uphold this aim. Coppa Cafe is situated just inside the RHA’s front door and serves up delectable food and coffee." - It's Okay

Excellent patronage by the Royals 🙇‍♂️ and Stunning displays of local artists 🧑‍🎨 across the street outside st Steven’s green. Lovely testimate to the trust and honesty of the Irish ☘️ scan QR codes to connect with the artists. Personally love the oils and mixed media, don’t have enough film to capture all the beauty! Favorite artist is Johnman Spraycan. Once I have a home I’ll add a few.

Great gallery with contemporary art :) Spacious and usually not very crowded, so can really enjoy it at your own pace. Exhibitions often change, meaning that almost every month you can find something interesting. Another plus that it’s free.

Came down from Armagh to see the Annual Exhibition. It was incredible. The variety and quality was exceptional. The exhibition is a free event that artwork can be seen over 2 floors. Catalogue is €20. As that has the prices of the artwork. I'm not sure where you would park if you took a car?

Visited this year's exhibition and it did not disappoint! It always fills me with delight, wonder and exasperation! Because if the huge eclectic range of art, photographs, pottery and constructions their is something for everyone! What may delight me may not move you and what seems like "emperor's new clothes" to me may be just what you like! Have a look at the photos I've taken and then go to the exhibition and find have your own wonderful and surprising experience! It's free and fun!

I recommend this Gallery as a great set of spaces that easily permit one to replenish the soul. The location alone, just moments from busy roads, is surprisingly quiet, and unfussed. There is paid on road car parking nearby. Bicycle parking for up to 2 on solitary pole to right of entrance. Semi redundant bike parking on Bells Lane usually blocked by vehicles, but in a vulnerable hidden spot with little or no security.

Always a pleasure to admire and appreciate the great exhibitions. Planned to take in a final day of one exhibit, and i did, before loosing myself in another. Wonderfully curated prints available and the staff were on hand and so helpful and informative. Also free. If you have the time, I'd also recommend Margadh for a bite.

Yelp
Love the RHA which is a visual arts society run by artists. A superb city centre gallery space also offering various art classes as well as regular exhibition. In particular their Annual Exhibition is fantastic and I love to visit it to see the wealth of contemporary Irish art selected via open submission - paint, sculpture, print, photography, drawing and architecture - it's all here, and it's all fantastic.

Yelp
Tucked away down a side street next to Stephen's Green, I only became aware of this art gallery when I went to a "Hennessey Lost Friday" event hosted here (using the gallery as a space to give artist tours as well as cocktail lessons, art work and music). The first thing you find on entering is the cafe - a smallish space, with a relatively simple, yet tasty menu (the meatballs were delicious). Then into the Academy, where there are a set of different rooms hosting different artwork. I was lucky enough to get a tour of one of the current exhibitions "Foggy Dew" from the artist (and current RHA President) Mick O'Dea, which further enhanced the experience (head there soon to see his contribution to the centenary celebrations). With no admission fee and changing exhibitions, worth a look in if you are in town

Yelp
I think it is both the mix of media used together with the huge selection of Artists and beautiful wide open spaces which makes the RHA such a pleasure to visit. What ever the mix, whatever your tastes, you will find something that appeals. It is definitely worth a shot.

Yelp
It's modern facade makes it stand out from the Georgian buildings that line Ely place. But it is not gawdy, it has an understated coolness about it. All of which is quite fitting because the art that it displays is contemporary. I am always pleased to see a large professional space for Irish artists to display their work, thus giving the outlet to sell their work. It also is good to see that they also display the work of other international contemporary artists which raises the overall standard and prestige of it. During the summer months they display work by the members of the Academy, I just had an amble around last week, well worth the visit. Oh it's free admission!

Yelp
'Royal Hibernian Academy' I think this is one of Irelands best influential contemporary art galleries. As soon as you walk into the gallery it challenges peoples apreciation of the visual arts displayed in there. In there i saw drawings, paintings, and photography which are all shown in four galleries. they are all exhibitions of Irish and world wide art. They also have a gallery for artists that are not commercially known yet. This ia a great gallery to see if you like art and like to challenge the your appreciation and understanding of traditional and innovative approaches to the visual arts.

Yelp
The 186th exhibition is currently taking place in the RHA. The exhibition spaces are so beautiful and the layout is perfect. I spent over an hour leading from one piece to the next. Definitely recommend even if you're not a gallery lover to check it out.
