Room:
Lived in room 203. 4 beds (2 bundbeds). 1 table. 2 closets. Clean. No air conditioning that it got really hot on warm days even though we slept with open windows. The bed was hard, but it had the hardness I was comfortable with.
The toilet was clean. It was divided into 3 sections: one with toilet, one with basin, one with shower. Possible to lock the toilet only and their was a door to the shower, which was good when sharing room with many other people. The water pressure was good.
Me, not being used to youth hostel didn't know that they didn't even have handsoap available in the bathroom. They did not even sell it in the reception. Good that there was a grocery shop nearby.
Location:
Not much nearby except the park. At least 20 min walk to Mainz city where there are cafés and restaurants.
Food:
The breakfast is not too bad. Surprising good quality of the watermelon served. Not the most amazing quality, but they had typical breakfast stuff available. No warm breakfast items. The coffee was bland. Their ice tea was sour(?) and watery. Orange juice also watery.
The lunch was often pretty tasteless. Good that they offered much vegetables. They also had some kind of simple desserts (such as pudding)
The dinner was german dinner consisting of similar food as breakfast. Not really of my preference.
