The views are delightful, and the room inside is pleasantly cool in hot summer. Guide with all details: ⏱️ you’ll need about an hour to see everything 🍽️ to eat, it's best to eat at the port, as the nearby restaurant has a low rating and tends to be overpriced 🚌 getting in and out from the castle, the public bus is the most convenient option-just a quick 7-minute ride (departs xx:07 & xx:37 every hour from the castle) 🚶‍♂️there are also steps available if you prefer a more scenic route on the way up 💶 6 per adult / 4 child, no need to book in advance 🚢 if you are on a ship ride - you need 2 hours between arrival and departure 🍦take in the port on the way up or down

It was great experience to visit the castle (mostly ruined) and have an insight of what happened here during medieval era and after French war. There are several things you can see like the Europe’s largest cold store and beautiful view of Rhine valley at the top. It is mostly under construction due to repair work going on.

Nice castle but we hiked to ones that were better with no cost or minimal cost . Unfortunately it was under construction which is understandable but took away from the experience and some sections were blocked off. The museum was closed for 1 hour for a theatre show so we waited a while but felt we didn’t want to wait anymore. We thought it was over hyped in our opinion with the high reviews! It is hard not to get spoiled with so many castles around!

An amazing ruin. Great entry price and we were free to walk around even though lots of maintenance happening. Definitely worth a visit.

This was a great castle to view, because unlike many of the restore castles, this one is more in its original state. It had some very fascinating areas to explore with great views of vineyards and the river. And the museum area has a lot of beautiful artifacts that are very interesting as well. Definitely worth the visit.

You can visit only few parts of the castle as it is under major renovation. What is really a must, if the weather isn't rainy, is the restaurant. The view from the terrace is simply astonishing!

Beautiful and big. There’s a hotel, a store and a cafe inside. The views from the castle are unique also.

I like the old broken fortress better than the renovated ones

Yelp
We stopped in for the view of the castle, which sits on a peak overlooking the Rhein. Much of this castle was renovated as it was in bad shape from the several wars. Today it hosts fine dining, a gift shop, and events. We stopped in for an hour to enjoy some drinks and appetizers. The host graciously allowed our party of 8 to put together some tables. The weather was raining so not many guests were coming for the view. Enjoyed some beer and a couple of pick plates. This host was friendly and the ambiance was spectacular.

Yelp
It's one of the medieval castle ruins looking over the Rhine River on the western shore in the town of Sankt Goar. It is the largest and one of the most magnificent castle ruins on the Rhine. The parking is available at the castle site for .50 euro per hour. You'd need about two hours if you tour the castle for 5 euro per adult. Limited English tour is available, but you can always go on a self-guided tour (without a tunnel part). You can use your imagination to see yourself in the Middle Ages, explore fortifications, towering towers and halls and passageways cut into the rock. The importance of the fortress in military as well as cultural area is clearly presented to you in the museum of local history in the former chapel. If you are limited with time you can spend here, you can forego with the exploration of the ruin inside, and enjoy an excellent view of the Rhine from a vantage point--I'd give about 30 minutes to accomplish this with a quick visit to the gift shop.

Yelp
This is a great shell of a castle cost is only 4€ each. Parking costs 1€ per hour I think you will need at least two! We did the Rick Steves' tour from his book which was a great tool to learn more about the castle. Bring a flashlight or headlamp! There are some scary pitch black tunnels to explore! Watch your head though the ceilings are low and made of unforgiving rocks. The bathroom is really cool make sure you take a peak! And it is free unlike most toilets in Europe.

Yelp
We parked in St. Goar and walked up the "nature trail" (path entrance near the train station) to the ruins of this historic fortress. While we missed the English tour and weren't able to go through the tunnels, we used Rick Steve's self-guided tour. Beautiful and sweeping views of the valley from the top, and fun to walk the ramparts. The museum has some interesting artifacts that are worth a visit.

Yelp
What a stunning property on the Rhine. As American tourists we were shocked and pleased by the low price of admission and that you could bring your dog. It's a self guided tour, so you have as much time as you want to explore. The castle is huge so take your time and check out the whole property. Fantastic views of the Rhine river valley. Great museum on site with all kinds of interesting artifacts. A must see along the Rhine river valley!

Yelp
Great castle - $5euros per adult. Family rate does not include a kid over 12. It would have been nice if the ticket taking lady wasn't short (impolite), and would have taken the time to tell us of a tour option.
