Amazing castle, amazing views, and delicious food! Parking is a bit limited and only for 2 hours. First, I will say it's a bit of steep walk to make your way up to the entrance (I think you call them for disabled help) but it's worth it! The entrance was beautiful and the attendant was friendly and gave us good explanation of the map. This castle is packed full of history at every turn and you can walk up multiple floors and most are fully furnished. There are stunning panoramic views as well. The icing on the cake is the Café. It has beautiful views and great food. We had the Flammenkuchen which was so good and interesting! Who knew salami and roasted grapes would be so awesome together. I mean we were in wine region so why not!!! The area is packed full of other thi gs to do so you could make a day trip to this area! We would definitely go back to this place for a 2nd visit!

A pretty castle in the Rhine Valley. Easily accessible from roadside parking. Not suitable if you're physically disabled, as the castle must be accessed by a series of steep ramps. The cafe offers a range of food, but no cake. :(

The castle is a lovely day-trip destination. It was a bit tricky to climb (to enter the castle) with two small kids, but doable. The restaurant offers Flammkuchen and local wine

The castle is great. For once non-German and German speakers are treated equally. All the information provided in the castle are bi-lingual, same for the leaflet you get wh your ticket. Also one castle you can visit without guided tour! The parking along the road is free. A short climb gets you to the entry. I highly recommend it.

We visited just to tour the castle, and it's a gem. You can park along the Rhine road and then you climb up a steep path, but it's totally worth it. My four kids really enjoyed touring it, and it felt like you could go almost anywhere in the castle, including several high towers. The cafe was also very nice, with great flatbreads. And the WC was one of the nicest I've been to in Germany.

This is not a hotel, it is a castle at the top of a steep hill and and there are lots of stairs in the castle itself. Well worth the climb! Beautiful view over the Rhein River, well documented history within the castle.

Very very cool castle! Its like Cochem castle but it has its own charm. There was a family who actually used to really live there! There was also cool tower, it was pretty creepy to go up there, it was tight and a bit claustrophobic, would be difficult also for big sized people, just in case. Other than that, its suitable for families and kids. Definitely worth it! Parking is a bit difficult, max two hours and must leave the car with time card or your car would be towed. And parking is free but you need to be careful leaving the parking since it’s directly to the main street.

Personally I've never stayed here, but I have enjoyed a slice of cake and tea at the cafe which has the most incredible view! You are welcome to come and walk around the castle grounds for free. Just keep in mind it is a hotel now, so you can't go too far hahaha

Yelp
This is hands down one of the more fun castles to tour in the Rhineland. It's not the fanciest, or filled with the most artifacts, but it is in my opinion the most fun. It's accessible via the rhine river cruises that run up and down the river in this region of Germany, and is a bit of a hike up to the castle, but it's worth it! I will say, it isn't the most accessible if you have mobility needs, though, I do think an electric scooter or wheelchair (with assistance) could likely make it up. I'd call ahead if if you have accessibility questions. Once you make it to the top you purchase tickets in the giftshop and from there you can explore the entire castle. Let me say that again, they let you explore via self guided tour, the entire castle grounds. This is what makes it so special. You want to walk up to the top of the tower? go for it! You want to poke around each room - go for it? Take pictures? they don't care! It's really a treat to be able to immerse yourself in the history at your own pace and really take it all in. You could easily spend two hours here reading labels, climbing to the top of the tower, or simply sitting and enjoying the views from the many scenic panoramas available from the castle itself. Keep in mind, it has a small gift shop and no food options so if you think you'll need a snack I'd pack one, along with some water for your time here.

Yelp
Beautiful castle to visit in Germany. It is only 7 euros and you can by a pamphlet that is in English for 3 euros. The views are gorgeous and the workers are very friendly. I will be recommending this castle to many others. You can even stay in the castle for a romantic experience with your lover.

Yelp
It's a steep, zig-zagging walk up to the castle, but boy, is it worth it! This medieval castle sits on a cliffside above the Rhine river and offers the most gorgeous views! There is a tower study that you can climb up to (on external stairs), and a few patios to look out over the river from. The chapel is lovely, as well. Every room was interesting and beautiful in it's own way, even the very rustic kitchen. The hall with all the suits of armor, weapons and hunting implements was impressive considering how small it was. There are benches to rest along the walk up to the entrance, and a small giftshop and courtyard with picnic tables just after it. Tours are DIY. I'm always amazed at how much technology there was back then to allow such large and intricate buildings to be built on these steep, narrow, lofty and difficult-to-access locations. A must-see along the Rhine! 37/2020

Yelp
We stopped in for a bite to eat and then toured the castle. Overall, we were quite surprised by our trip. The food was delicious! We had a flammkuchen (German styled flatbread). This was crispy and soft with tons of flavors. We also got one of the specials which was a kalbshaxenragout dish. This was some of the best, most tender meat we have found in Germany. We will be back to eat again. I also had the castle wine. We enjoyed our lunch with a fantastic view. Now, you pay 5,50 to get into the castle. The castle is great, well taken care of, and has a lot to offer with the views and information.

Yelp
We stayed at the hotel and went to the museum. I'll start with the museum. It was fantastic and well worth the €5. The set up lets you wonder around with a map and you're able to explore the castle at your own pace. There aren't many items behind glass which really surprised me, it but made the experience much more authentic. The hotel was great, the breakfast in particular! The room was very modern and comfortable, the only thing that I would change would have been the pillows, they where almost too puffy. The only other down-side I can think of would be that over the summer there isn't any AC to cool down the room.

Yelp
We took a river boat to the castle, and toured. It's a bit of a zig zag hike up to the castle, but it was so worth it. They thoughtfully include benches with amazing views on the way up for people to rest. The castle itself was in great repair, and so much fun to explore. It even came with a castle kitty! The restaurant was only so so. We were limited to what was available in the season, which ended up being salad and minestrone soup. The soup was good, but in a very small cup.

Yelp
Loved exploring this medieval castle! We had only a short time in the region, and I researched all of the castles around before deciding that this was a must-see. We biked here from Bacharach (beautiful ride along the river), and went on the self-guided tour. Afterward we had lunch at their restaurant, which has a stunning view of the castle and the surrounding area.

Yelp
It's a steep climb but worth it! The view is breathtaking and the castle can be visited at your own pace without a guided tour! The rooms are carefully decorated with 17th-18th century furniture. The castle is a familyrun business and also has a restaurant.
