I have a different experience with this airport because I have flown commercially in and out of here but back in the 80's when I was a student pilot I made my first "big" airport landing here with big commercial planes coming and going. It makes me smile thinking about it now because it was pretty intimidating that day but Boston and NY were much bigger deals later on but I digress LOL
PVD Providence or T. F. Green International Airport is actually in Warwick, RI opened in 1931, the airport was named for former RI governor and longtime senator Theodore Francis Green. Rebuilt in 1996 the renovated main terminal was named for former RI governor Bruce Sundlun. It was the first state-owned airport in the United States. The airport didn't change much until a new terminal was built on Post Road in 1964, replacing the old 1933 terminal along Airport Road. In 1996 that terminal was replaced, expanding to 18 gates, and adding a lower arrival level and an upper departure level. In 1997 four gates were added. In October 2017, T. F. Green's runway 5/23 was officially opened for use at its new expanded length of 8,700 feet.
So that's the big history let's talk about the everyday stuff :-) The commercial airlines out of here ar United Airlines, Sun Country, Southern Airways Express, Southwest Airlines, JetBlue, Frontier Airlines, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, Allegiant Airlines and Air Canada.
They have a creative parking situation but the pickup/drop-off scenario is pretty standard with well-marked signage so that's good. However, they could add a nice holding lot with a real-time arrival & departure board. Just sayin' because places like Nashville have it so c'mon Warwick or rather Providence, step it up you guys! :-) Just a personal peeve there LOL
On the big upside, PVD is the Official Airport of the New England Patriots. offering easy access to Patriots home games via highway with the stadium less than 45 minutes away! They also have great options for Patriots nation to support the team on the road. Bravo!! #GoPats
Okay for food there's Dunkin, Donat's Place, Libations Restaurant & Lounge, Iron Works Tavern, Wolfgang Puck Express, and Wendy's, that's all good :-)
Here's a question that a lot of people ask, how are the check-ins? Everybody that I know who flown this airport has agreed with me that the TSA is quick, friendly, and helpful, and that's a pretty big deal for me.
News Flash: May 2021 The state House of Representatives Tuesday voted 63 to 9 to make Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport the new name of the airfield originally known as Hillsgrove. The Senate had already passed its version of the legislation. So that's happening.

Bottom line: Much like the review I recently did of the Pensacola airport, this is also a smaller airport, clean and efficient plus it's great for avoiding huge crowds when traveling.
