This Riad is a little treasure in the midst of a place which is still catching up after an earthquake in 2023. When you are walking to the Riad, you wonder what you are walking towards. The surrounding area is not plush, if plush and nice is what you are after then this is not the holiday area for you. If you are open minded and willing to embrace the local culture, then you are in for a treat. The Riad itself when you enter through the door is really nice. The welcome from the staff is great, with a local tea 🍵 to help you settle in. The room itself, although quite narrow has loads of space to get changed and store your clothes. The shower room was nice with nice towels and a hairdryer and straighteners for those who need. Plenty of hot water. Bottles of water are provided daily for your teeth brushing etc. There is no fridge in the room but plenty of plug sockets for your charging points.
Breakfast each morning was slightly different each day, with a good selection of bread, eggs, yoghurt and delicious fresh fruit which really did fill you up to the point where my wife and I did not need any lunch.
Really nice rooftop seating area for lounging in the sun should you wish to relax for an hour or so. Breakfast is also served up there.
The area itself is really interesting. The people are really nice and don't get pushy when you are wandering through the old city streets. Lots to do and see for about a 4 day trip but not much longer. Loads of nice places to eat at night. Just wander about and find some fantastic roof top restaurants for your evening meal. Dishes were good, tagines fantastic but not large Portions, but good value for the money.
Taxi from the airport to the medina is £15 which you will find straight outside the airport. You pay at a booth and get a taxi number and ticket, same price on the way back, no issues. Swap your money in the airport exchange. Good amount of cash machines in and around the streets, we found bank of Africa really good.
Don't expect to have alcohol on offer in all the restaurants as it is a predominantly Muslim country. You can find a drink if you need to at some restaurants.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay in this Riad with the Staff team who were all fantastic. We would recommend this Riad as a really good base for your stay in Marrakesh.
