Riad Altair, a Design Boutique Hotel Marrakesh, Morocco

"The riad is ideally located in a quiet street, only 100 metres from the Bab Doukkala mosque. The Double Terrace on the roof offers a panoramic view of the Red City. This typical Moroccan house has been completely renovated to offer modern comfort. The patio and pool will be a cool oasis in the heat of the day. The Riad Altair features 6 large air-conditioned rooms, all decorated in a blend of traditional and modern styles. This hotel offers Moroccan cooking lessons, massages and beauty treatments. Thanks to its privileged location the riad is only a short walk to the bazaars and 10 minutes from Jamaâ El Fna Square." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

We have just spent 7 nights at the Riad Altair, our first time in Marrakech. |We had a wonderful time! The hotel is beautiful, a haven of peace after exploring the city. Our room was lovely, spacious with a large bathroom. The hotel is well placed and within easy reach of the main attractions. There is a lovely roof area to relax in the sun if you wish. We cannot praise the staff highly enough, they are all so cheerful and helpful. We ate in the hotel each evening and the food was superb. Each night chef Saida served us three courses of traditional Moroccan cuisine, delicious. Yassine, our waiter, was always happy and smiling, he always explained the dish and its ingredients and was very helpful in telling us how to get to the places we were visiting. Thanks also to Samira who cleaned our rooms and, on one evening, also cooked us a lovely meal. The breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of fresh fruits, home made yoghurt, pancakes, fresh bread, croissants and sweet pastries and eggs. Finally, a special thank you to Abdou, the manager, who made us feel so welcome and was always helpful.|This a fabulous place to stay and we would not hesitate to go there again.

Riad Altair – A Peaceful Oasis in the Heart of Marrakech! We recently stayed at Riad Altair for four nights during a special trip to Marrakech to celebrate my birthday, and it was absolutely wonderful. Before our visit, I contacted the Riad to help arrange a traditional hammam and a day trip to the Atlas Mountains. Abdou, the manager, couldn’t have been more helpful, he organised everything perfectly and made the process effortless. From the moment we arrived, we felt an incredible sense of calm. The team welcomed us with mint tea, and our room was decorated with a birthday banner across the bed, such a thoughtful surprise! The Riad truly feels like an oasis in the city, just a five-minute walk from the hustle and bustle of the Medina, yet inside it’s tranquil, cool, and beautifully decorated. Every time we stepped through the door, it was as though we’d come home to peace and quiet after the energy of the city outside. The staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. The breakfasts were delicious, and the evening meal we enjoyed on our last night was absolutely beautiful. We left feeling completely relaxed and cared for. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Riad Altair to anyone visiting Marrakech, we would absolutely stay again.

I stayed at Riad Altair for a few nights and overall I had a very good experience. The riad is intimate, quiet and well maintained, with clean and pleasant common areas where it’s really easy to relax after a day in the chaos of the Medina. The welcome was excellent: my reservation was in order, on arrival the room was already ready and the staff were always kind and helpful, both at reception and in the dining area. I really appreciated their availability in giving information about the city and helping me organize the transfer, which was punctual and well managed. The meals were good and table service was attentive and quick. Personally, I also really liked the absence of a TV in the room, which adds to the peaceful atmosphere of the riad. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and the Moroccan-style décor very cozy. However, I would point out two small areas for improvement: there is no full-length mirror in the room, which would be very useful; and the air conditioning did not work properly in heating mode and no warm air came out, which can be a bit of an issue in winter. The only real downside concerns the payment of the bill: I was forced to pay in cash, so I had to withdraw money and pay about €5 in bank fees. Since there was no alternative to paying by card, I would have appreciated at least having this extra cost covered, or being clearly informed about it in advance. All in all, though, my stay was pleasant and I would happily return to Riad Altair, hoping that these small details will be improved in the future.

We had a wonderful stay at Riad Altair. The hotel is incredibly tranquil and peaceful, a perfect escape from the busy streets of Marrakech. The hospitality was outstanding — Abdou, the hotel manager, was warm, attentive, and gave us a detailed map and helpful recommendations as soon as we arrived. We were welcomed with lovely mint tea and biscuits. Breakfast daily was yummy with different options each day. Must try having breakfast on the terrace, so relaxing! Also to mention the night staff were lovely and friendly. The talented chef prepared an amazing dinner for us one evening. Apologies i didn't catch anyones names. Honestly, we enjoyed the food at the riad even more than the restaurants in the area, we only wish we had booked dinner there more often!||The rooms were beautiful and comfortable, with a charming terrace that offered breathtaking sunsets and sunrises. Housekeeping was done daily without us ever needing to ask, and any questions we had were answered immediately. The only things to note are that the rooms can feel a bit dark, especially if you like doing makeup in bright light — although opening the doors and sunroof brings in gorgeous natural light. We visited during a colder period, so our room felt chilly at night, but we’re sure the staff would have helped if we had mentioned it. We booked through Jet2 so greate value for money.||Abdou helped us with our bags on our way to and back from hotel as our taxi transfer from airpott was arranged through the hotel were smooth but on the pricier side. However worth it if you are new to the city but there are definitely cheaper alternatives available. The location itself is excellent and felt very safe.||Overall, we were extremely well looked after and would absolutely stay here again. Thank you Riad Altair. Will miss you!

This is a beautiful place to stay. Very good location and, above all else, Abdou and His team are fantastic. Great value, lovely breakfast, comfortable rooms, 2 level roof top terraces. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They can arrange tours and transfers for you and restaurant reservations.||Can't speak highly enough of them and this excellent Riad

We spent 4 relaxing days at Riad Altair. Perfect location, in the heart of the medina but once you step inside the front door you are in a peaceful, calm oasis. Our bedroom was comfortable, with aircon. The staff were so kind and friendly, helping with taxi bookings, organising tour guides and our amazing sunrise hot air balloon ride. The views from the rooftop terrace over the medina were stunning, you could just make out the Atlas Mountains! A plentiful breakfast every morning is included and we had dinner on two evenings, both delicious home cooked meals. Thank you so much Abdou, Yassin and the whole team!

We're just home from our trip to Marrakech and could not be more pleased! ||The Riad is beautiful - clean and comfortable, with good sized bedrooms and different spaces for socialising. We were really impressed and pleased with how peaceful it is, given that it is located just two short alleyways away from the bustle of the Medina. After a day spent out in the rush and noise of Marrakech, the Riad is a welcome pocket of calm and relaxation!||Our welcome with water and tea was pleasant while we waited for the manager to finish welcoming some other guests. It seems that he has a well-practiced routine for introducing guests to the area with a map, and marking out places of interest. I'm not sure that the paper map is a necessity, with the popularity of things like Google Maps (and we had next to no issues with signal the whole time), but it is a nice touch.||Meals were lovely - breakfast was hot drinks, fruit and yoghurt, pancakes, pastries, and eggs if you wanted them. We enjoyed being joined by the local songbirds coming down through the open roof to get their morning crumbs! The team were accommodating on the morning that we had an early start for a tour - when we got downstairs there was coffee and pastries out on the table for us||Dinner was varied, good portion sizes (actually a little too much for me) and worked out as a good price for a 3-course meal. Just had to let them know in the morning if you were in or out for dinner so that the cook and prep as needed. ||The roof terrace was probably our favourite place. We would take the pastries from breakfast up with us to munch through the lazy mornings before heading out. And also enjoyed tea and games (we always travel with some boardgames!) in the evening.||I've seen a couple of reviews mentioning the lack of alcohol? But it's a majority Muslim country so I'm not sure why that should be a surprise. There are other restaurants and bars nearby if that is a preference (find Kabana just down the road - it is excellent!)||I would recommend this Riad over any of the big hotels we passed to anyone heading to Marrakech. We loved our stay||Thank you team Altair!

Wow wow wow! Myself and friend have just arrived back home after the most wonderful stay at Riad Altair. ||We were met at our taxi (which we arranged with the Riad) by a lovely lady who walked us to the Riad, she was so welcoming and friendly. ||When we stepped inside, it smelt wonderful and was wonderfully peaceful. We arrived very late due to delays but they had prepared us a meal which was really delicious. (We had arranged the meal in advance) ||Our room was absolutely gorgeous and spotlessly clean. Perfect size for 2 people, plenty of storage space, towels, robes and toiletries. I was really impressed. It was peaceful all night, we popped the air con on and had the best sleep. ||We were greeted in the morning by lovely, happy, smiley staff. Breakfast was plentiful, fruits, yogurt, breads, egg, pancakes and more. We even had English tea. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff they were absolutely wonderful. ||The rooftop terrace is lovely, perfect to sunbathe, there is also places to relax in shade. The small pool is wonderful after a long hot day exploring. ||Yasim sat down with us, gave us a map and lots of information/ tips. What a wonderful man. All of the staff were amazing, polite, friendly, helpful. ||I would have loved to have stayed longer, it really felt so homely. ||The location was fab, a short walk to Jemaa El-Fnaa Square. Lots of cash points on the way. ||Thank you so much for an amazing stay. We loved everything. xx
