We had no idea when we booked Riad Anata how wonderful our experience would be. It’s very beautiful and incredibly well run. The staff is exceptional, gracious and so welcoming. They booked an amazing guide for us the first day who took us all around the Medina and taught us so much about the history of Fes. The next day we did the most amazing cooking class with Samira. We cannot recommend her and her wonderful class enough. And the breakfasts and dinners are so delicious.

Three of us took a cooking class with the lovely Samira today. This wonderful woman was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip. From the very beginning, it felt deeply personal and authentic — not a touristy demonstration, but a genuine glimpse into Moroccan home cooking and culture. We started the day by walking through the lively local market together, where she guided us through the stalls, teaching us how to choose the freshest vegetables, fragrant spices, and tender cuts of meat. Everyone in the market seemed to know her, and it was such a joy to experience that sense of community and warmth. Back in her kitchen, we rolled up our sleeves and helped with every part of the preparation — chopping, seasoning, tasting, and learning little family secrets passed down through generations. She was patient, kind, and so passionate about sharing her love for Moroccan food. We would highly recommend this to anyone that wants an authentic Moroccan experience.

Today Samira at riad Anata provided us with a fantastic cooking class. The market to get the ingredients and her way of cooking were both enjoyable. We immediately felt at home. And we had a great lunch after all our work together. Thank you Samira

We had a wonderful stay at Riad Anata with my parents and my brother. The place is beautifully decorated and incredibly comfortable. One of the things we loved most was the location — right in the touristic area of the medina, making it easy to explore it. We also really appreciated being able to rent the entire riad exclusively for our family. It made the experience feel even more special and private, just like a home away from home. Highly recommended for families or groups looking for a unique and peaceful stay in Fez!

We had the riad to ourselves and the team made us feel like we were home. A warm welcome from Mohammed and Driss’s careful meals and check ins made the experience even greater. Breakfast was amazing, but that chicken with lemon tagine was probably our best dinner on the country! Rooms are beautiful, it’s easy to get in and out, and while we did have to hire a tour guide to understand how to navigate the Medina, once we did that, it was so easy! There is a place nearby that does your laundry in a couple of hours and the massage from the folks next door is awesome too!

We had an amazing stay at Riad Anata and the food was always so tasty. We spent in total 3 nights, had twice dinner at their rooftop and really sparked our stay in Fez with recommendations and a very welcoming staff & Valerie (owner) which made us feel so pleasantly cared. Totally recommended!

Dear Riad Anata Team, We just wanted to send a heartfelt thank you for the wonderful stay we had at your beautiful riad. As a couple traveling with our little girl, we truly appreciated how warm, welcoming, and kind everyone was—especially with her. She felt right at home, and that means the world to us. Thank you again for your hospitality and for making our stay so special. We hope to come back soon!

This review is for the cooking class, we did not sleep in the Riad. We met at the Blue Gate and then were asked what we want to cook. Then we had a walk around the souk to buy vegetables and a chicken. We were also navigated to a spices location. Overall the market visit felt a bit short. Then we walked to the Riad. It was hot that day in the little roof kitchen, but the cook tried to make it as pleasant as possible for us. We were asked to peel and cut onions, oranges, pepper etc. No cooking in that sense, no use of the stove from our side. The rest of the time we watched how the cook prepared the dishes and we wrote down the recipes while she explained them. Because we started with multiple things at a time and then continued in parallel, often in the beginning it was unclear what we actually prepare right now. Until now we don't know the name of all the dishes. The dishes themselves were good. We had two delicious desserts, which were actually the best dishes that day. We enjoyed the food on the rooftop with a nice wind. We were a small group of only 3 participants. This was nice. A bigger group would probably struggle in the small kitchen. This was not our first cooking class. The experience overall was good, but we were somewhat disappointed about the missing preparation (esp. recipes written down for us) and missing participation in the cooking process.
