Riad Dar Zaman, Marrakech, Morocco - Explore & Book

"The taxi dropped me on a main road opposite a narrow cobbled lane which looked, for all the world, like yet another dark dead-end in Marrakech's winding medina. And while it may be a cul-de-sac in the strict sense, a regal wooden door at the end opens to reveal a true haven from the bustle of the outside world. Riad Dar Zaman’s beauty lies in its intimate size (there are just 4 rooms) and its truly personalised service. It also happens to be great value. When Peter, a British former ad exec, first visited Marrakech in 2005 he had no plans to settle, but on entering the calm of the riad it is easy to see why he has stayed. The building - little more than a shell then - has been lovingly restored to emphasise the beautiful pointed arches, white stonework and wrought-iron grilles of the central courtyard, which now provides a perfect space to relax after a day of exploring the madness of the souks. As soon as darkness falls, the riad comes alive in the glow of candle light and warm hues. The 4 bedrooms are stylishly simple and decorated in neutral tones to complement the Zen ambience. Couples on a budget will love it here. Highs Peter and Hassan's warm and attentive service will leave you feeling like you have spent your time in Marrakech with kind and knowledgeable friends An easy 10-minute walk from the main square, and a short walk from some of Marrakech's best restaurants & street food spots – the team will advise on their top picks Excellent value for money, and a pretty and peaceful haven from the busy streets outside. We awoke to nothing but the gentle sound of birdsong Our 3-course evening meal was delicious, fresh and creative, which cannot be said of all in-riad dinners Their cookery classes are brilliant – they include a walking tour of local food markets to buy ingredients, and a lovely meal at the end Lows Finding the riad can be a tricky, but someone will come out to meet you at the main road when you first arrive Bathrooms are quite small, with little natural light; bedrooms are narrow too (as so often in riads) With just 4 rooms, you'll need to book early There's no swimming pool, but a small plunge pool in the courtyard provides relief from the summer heat" - Charlotte Bonsey

Delightful little Riad. Very friendly, attentive staff who supplied delicious food tailored to individual tastes, arranged trips/taxis, etc., gave advice on local customs, maps, and lots more, and generally looked after us very well. Lovely terrace to eat on and very comfortable rooms. It was hard to believewe were right in the middle of the bustle and noise of Marrekech as ot was so peaceful and relaxing within the Riad. Would thoroughly recommend.

Words cant describe how much we enjoyed and how much we will miss this place. ( we will be coming back again) the place was very beautiful, the first day we came they helped us bring our luggage from the taxi to the riad. The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It really made us feel like home, the breakfast every morning was filling and we somehow fixed our sleeping pattern when we was over there! Room service was amazing too as our beds were being laid when we went out||I would like to thank ALL the helpers there for being so helpful especially the helper that always gave me my orange juice and eggs in the breakfast |-Jubril

Riad Dar Zaman is a beautiful, calm escape from the bustle of the medina. The rooms are stylish and comfortable, the breakfasts are delicious, and the rooftop is perfect for relaxing. The staff are incredibly warm and helpful, going above and beyond to make our stay special with great tips and personal touches. A true home away from home – highly recommended!

Staying a night at Riad Dar Zaman felt as though we’d been welcomed with care into an old friend’s home. Excellent communication beforehand from Peter; a smooth & comfortable transfer from the airport, well worth booking; the best & most helpful welcome from Hassan that we’ve EVER received somewhere we’ve stayed, which was the perfect introduction to confidently exploring Marrakesh; a great location for exploring the medina; warm & friendly service from Adel; beautiful food prepared by Karima; a comfortable bed; and a lush breakfast (very vegan friendly) served on a sweet terrace. You know somewhere is excellent when you’ve only stayed one night and feel this strongly about how great it is!

They said make yourself at home, so I did, it wasn't difficult!... This Riad is a gem. Comfortable and authentic. Rooms surround a beautiful interior courtyard, as cool as it is hot outside.I had the Terrace room, good size with shower, everything I needed. The bed was the comfiest ever. Breakfast is good. But the best about Dar Zaman are the staff...nothing is too much trouble, they really did go over and above to make my stay special. Helpful advice from Hamza and Hassan was invaluable. In fact, they all make for a great team. I would definitely recommend a stay in this lovely Riad.

The Cooking Class at Dar Zaman was the TOP highlight of our one week in Morocco. It starts with a guided walk around the neighborhood, which in itself is an exceptional experience. Peter took us to places, which we'd never visit on our own (inside the hammam, the local bakery etc. etc.). It's a great way to learn about the local life in the most friendly and funny atmosphere. And then the cooking itself takes place in the most welcoming and home-like circumstances. The dishes we cooked were sooooo delicious...

Service and friendliness was top noch! Place exactly as shown on pictures in adverts. Lovely courtyard and terrace. The room was a bit dark and on a smaller size, but I managed to get myself organised despite that. Sometimes, talking noises from the room next door can be heard, but as long as you are unlucky with arrogant neighbours who do not care to be quiet, it should be fine. Place is suitable for those who prefer and respect peace and quiet. Good location too. Breakfast is plentiful but is repetitive, which is fine for a short stay but may be a downside for a longer stay. Dinner at riad is must have - delicious food, intimate atmosphere and good price compared to high rated touristy restaurants.
