Riad d'Or

Mora Mora the coordinator on the riad, was very accomodating and nice. He picked us up from the taxi and helped us when leaving.| He gave us directions around the medina and helped us with laundry.|The location of the riad is excellent and we have the best tagine in the country.|We visited 12 cities. Their tagine is the best. Excelent ingredients and preparation.

Staying in winter, the room was 35 degrees F, open courtyard contributed to cold cold morning. But the obviously broken shower(hose pulled out so it functioned like a garden hose) was an insult. We knew the place was booked so a room change was not an option. Manager was nowhere to be found. We left instead of staying second night- refund has not yet been sought.

This is a lovely Riad just inside the medina with the most lovely roof terrace with swimming pool. Our suite was spacious and quiet. Breakfast was very good and dinner was also available but better if you ear meat as otherwise it’s vegetable tagine which was very good but you don’t want to eat it every night! The staff were friendly and helpful and came to collect us from the car park outside the medina. really good value for. Knee and a calm peaceful place to stay.

This Riad is truly beautiful, with two courtyards below and a charming multilevel terrace above. Our rooms (two for our very large family) were unique and gorgeous - they smelled of aromatic cedar from the woodwork. The beds are firm and comfortable. Breakfast is local breads and condiments, yogurt, coffee, juice, and tea. Best of all are the hosts - so accommodating, they even walked us to a restaurant when we couldn’t find it. This is a treasure in Meknes, which is itself a treasure in Morocco.

The entry is dark and makes you think you made a bad hotel choice. No one seemed in charge. Very nice garden space and dining area in the truly lovely interior, ground floor. The Rhiad is a warren of often narrow and steep stairways that may not be appropriate for those with mobility issues. We had a large quiet room with beautiful ceiling. The pretty bathroom was up 3 stairs, a bit dangerous at night and had a strong odor of the sewer so we kept the door closed. Our beds were left unmade and the room could have been cleaner. Breakfast was all carbs, not great, and the place seemed understaffed, the manager overworked. The Wi-Fi was totally uneven throughout the premises. However it is also a bargain hotel.

Beautiful historic house, parts dating from the 18th century, a maze of courtyards and staircases, great breakfast, smiling staff. Simple furnishings and an overall faded feel would fairly point to a four rather than five rating, but for those who seek this sort of accommodation, like me, this is great, so I gave it a five.

Wonderful Riad in the ancient medina with big rooms, a lovely terrace with a view over the medina and a very nice pool. The house is beautifully decorated and the room where we stayed was very confortable. The breakfast and the dinner were tasty in a typical Maroccan style. The staff is very kind and eager to help you. We had a very lovely time there.
