Riad Laaroussa

We had a lovely stay at Riad Laaroussa. The riad is beautiful, peaceful, and full of traditional Moroccan charm. The staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout the stay, special mention to Fatima Zhara and Othmane. The atmosphere inside the riad is calm and relaxing compared to the busy streets outside. The rooms were comfortable and well maintained, and the overall experience was very pleasant. The rooftop have some magnificent views. A great place to stay if you want an authentic riad experience in the medina. 😊 Only downside was the temperature of the swimming pool (which could have been a little higher) as a heated pool. Kids loved the swim in this small backyard pool.

Where do I even begin…staying at the Riad Laaroussa was truly a magical experience. ||The atmosphere of the Riad is a tranquil, quiet, getaway from the hustle and bustle of the lively streets of Fes located conveniently just outside the front door. The rooms are all spectacular. We stayed in the Orange room with some friends, and had the opportunity to see some of the others as well, and they’re all uniquely wonderful, clean, and relaxing. The beds exceeded my expectations and were quite comfortable — easily the best we slept on during our time in Morocco (which included accommodations at 5 different places, from Fes to Marrakech). The different (and beautiful!) sitting spaces around the Riad provide multiple cozy areas to share conversation — or bread and olive oil with friends. Anything that we paid for beyond our room while staying at the Riad was very reasonably priced/great value as well, from meals to cappuccinos, or even shopping in their boutique store. ||Above all, the highlight was the service and hospitality of the amazing staff, Othman and his team. They were beyond attentive to our needs and ensured everything was perfect, from recommendations for places to eat in the old Medina, or where to get a Hammam (their own spa was booked the day we wanted to, but the place they recommended and helped us arrange was perfect), helping us get a taxi or porter, to the constant care and hospitality they showed us when at the Riad was beyond incredible. It’s as if you combined the degree of personalized care/hospitality of a Michelin starred restaurant or the Four Seasons and placed it in an intimate, boutique hotel, located right in the heart of the old city of Fes. It felt truly special not just to be the recipient of such great care, but to also see all of the staff take pride in and enjoy their work. Warm and professional do not even begin to capture it. ||If I’m ever traveling to Fes again, or providing recommendations to friends or family who are, there is no doubt that the accommodations would be at the Riad Laaroussa.

I rarely write negative reviews, but this place absolutely deserves it. My stay at this riad was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The reality is completely different from what they show online. The photos are misleading and the place feels neglected and poorly maintained. The atmosphere in the riad was very uncomfortable. Instead of feeling welcomed, I constantly felt tension and negative energy from the staff. Basic hospitality seemed completely absent. Some employees behaved in a very unprofessional way and clearly did not care about the guests’ experience. Cleanliness was also questionable. The room was not properly prepared, and the general condition of the property felt far from what you would expect from a riad that advertises itself as charming and authentic. Another major issue was the management. It felt like there was no organization at all. Requests were ignored, communication was difficult, and the overall service was chaotic. Fes is a beautiful city with many wonderful riads run by professional and respectful people. Unfortunately, this is not one of them. I strongly recommend travelers to choose another place if they want to enjoy their stay in the medina.

Hammam: 5/5 Restaurant: 1/5 Me and my wife went for a hammam and a massage service at this beautiful Riad. It is very big, luxurious and well maintained. Hammam and Massage: it was a great experience. We spend like 90min for both the hammam and the relaxing oil massage together with two different therapists. They were very respectful and informed us at every step of the process. We were both very satisfied with the service. Much recommended!! Restaurant: We went to the restaurant to spend some time while waiting for the Hammam and ended up ordering some food. The staff told us that it would take max 10min to get the food but we could only get the soup. We told them that we would come later and to not bring the burger that we ordered. After 2 hours of massage, they forced us to go to the restaurant, and eat the 2 hours old cold chicken burger. I even mentioned them that I don’t want to eat that and want to change to something else (I saw the same burger in the kitchen 2 hours ago), but the female manager/ staff simply didn’t even let me even read the menu. I felt scammed at a 5 star Riad 😅. We paid for a Burger menu that was 2 hours old and didn’t want from the start. This ruined our overall experience and that’s why the lower rating. I would recommend the Hammam but please avoid the restaurant.

Our family of four adults stayed at Riad Laaroussa during the week of Christmas. It was an incredible experience that we can’t recommend more highly. The staff is always there to help guests navigate Fes and they look out for all of your needs (sometimes even before you know you have them.) One of us had a terrible cold and had to skip a day of touring. The staff brought us medicine from the pharmacy, provided meals in the room and ensured he was comfortable. The Riad itself is gorgeous and well located. The restaurant is also terrific. Even though it was too cold and rainy to enjoy the terrace, we did go up there to enjoy watching one sunset. We will absolutely stay at Laaroussa if we get to Fes again. It would be literally impossible to improve on our visit!

Our family had a fantastic stay at Riad Laaroussa. You can’t drive to it as it’s conveniently located in the Medina but porters were waiting for us to take our luggage and show us the way. We had 3 rooms and each room was lovely. The Riad restoration was very well done and you feel you are in a special oasis away from the bustle of the Medina. Highly recommend!

We truly loved this Riad, it is beautiful. We stayed here for NYeve and that was a big big disappointment. We thought there would be music and a kind of party to celebrate NY eve but there was NOTHING. At 10.30 pm we were the last ones in the bistro and there was a complete silence. Very very disappointing as we found out that the Riad we stayed after this one the May Fez had a big NY eve celebration with music, dance and lots of fun.

Best hotel ever! The photos don’t do the Riad justice. We were awestruck the moment we entered the hotel. Beautiful courtyard and tastefully decorated public spaces. Our bedroom was spacious and well heated by a fire place and heaters.||Incredible service staff including all the ladies at the reception and waiters in the bistro. Always smiling and showing genuine interests in their customers. My suitcase was damaged and when I sought help from the Riad, it was returned to me the very same day, meticulously restored. ||Our stay was a truly amazing experience that far exceeded our expectations and we would 100% return if we visit Fes again. My only regret is that we were running late while checking out that I didn’t have the chance to express my appreciation to the people managing the Riad. Thank you.
