Google
Really love the Swiss rolls here! Not too creamy and not too much flour. Doesn’t feel Gao Wei when eating. Soft and fluffy bite and easy to swallow. But price is harder to swallow. Cos it’s double the price of swee Heng so it’s quite a novelty to try out. Preorder cakes are slightly cheaper than awfully chocolate but wish they had more flavors

Google
Quite the old school kaya roll and they have quite a few variety such as durian , mango , red velvet . Note that at Kandahar street only accepts cash. The kaya roll is layered with kaya spread and comes out as an authentic kaya treat filled with pandan flavor . I have also tried the mango roll it’s packed with real mangoes pieces in between the fresh cream

Google
My utmost favourite is the kaya swiss roll. Best Kaya Swiss Roll I’ve tried made of authentic real good old days kaya that tastes like what my late mother used to make at home. Brings back good memories. I’ve also tried the other flavours like Chocolate, Strawberry & Pandan Cheese. Looking forward to try more. The sponge cake is dense yet soft and not dry and the filling is generous, good quality ingredients (not just butter cream) not too sweet and very satisfying indeed. Always a hit at gatherings with the kids and adults alike. Keeps well and fresh in the fridge for 2 days. Affordable at $12 per roll and value for the price you pay.

Wedding gift given to us. This is mango & tbh, only their Kaya can make it. The rest is just average. Not worth the calories for such hefty pricing

Google
Just normal... I used to frequent this shop very often 10+ years ago and I remember the filling was a lot and tasted much better! Now, the kaya filling is like 0.2 cm thick only. But okay it tasted natural and not artificial. Quality =/ price

Used to bough swiss rolls from R&G in the past. However, the qualities of the rolls have drop tremendously. It was such a disappointment. Hope R&G will improve on their qualities. Flavour : Kaya, Durian, Chocolate and Mango Price : SGD 12 per roll Payment Mode : Cash only

Google
I have always liked their Swiss Rolls but it was very unfortunate that my last purchase was not very good. We bought this on Wednesday at their Kandahar branch in the morning. Both the coffee and chocolate rolls were both very dry especially the chocolate roll. There wasn't as much cream inside either. I think some quality control is due here.

Google
The Swiss roll is nice but the attitude of a female worker is questionable. Is she one of the owners? Why is she always rude? Has she ever realised this? She is that type of person that we say 没家教 or kurang ajar. Over the years, whenever I happen to be in the area of Arab Area, I patronize the store, I always feel disgusted by that woman.

Yelp
So delish. After admiring their sleek new shop at the Jewel, my cousin surprised me with a durian swiss roll during my stay in Singapore...and it was incredible. Fresh durian with lots of flavor, the fluffiest cake, and plenty of whipped cream. Since then, I've been to their old school (original) Kompong Glam shop twice to buy a number more rolls for family and gifts for others. I've still only tasted durian since I'm durian obsessed but have heard very good things about kaya as well. Cash only, and the nearest ATM is at the Raffles hospital.

Yelp
After going on a tour of the Kampong Glam district, our guide pointed out the Rich & Good Cake Shop. Not really promoting it, just highlighting that it was kind of an institution of sorts. Grab and go, after waiting about 10 minutes in a line, cash only, $8 a roll. When they are out, they are out. It is like the soup nazi...be ready when you get to the front to know your order, pay and go! They do not have a sitting area. When I got my mango swiss roll back to my hotel roll, I launched right in. I think it is ideally meant to be kept cold via refrigeration, but it was fine for the hour and half it was in my bag before getting back to my hotel. Simply delicious! I mean creamy, but the real deal, good kind of cream. I mean light and airy, knowing the cake part was freshly made that day. Fruity and tasty with real mango filling. Now I know it is only a little dessert, but for quality, this was an exceptional swiss roll (save your calories for the good stuff!). I have never really had so many kind words to say about a swiss roll. Little Debbie has nothing on the Rich & Good Cake Shop! If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and pick one up.

Yelp
Didn't know about this place until a friend insisted on getting some because she was in the area. out of curiosity i bought the durian roll. it was a couple hours later till i got home and that was the recommended time it should be outside the fridge once you buy it from them. the expiration on these rolls is 2-3 days. the roll itself was fluffy and the texture was nice. not the best durian filling but it was good enough for my first try. there were many other flavours so if i am back in that part of town i would give it another try.

Yelp
The softest swiss roll I've had in Singapore. Not talking about the Japanese roll, but swiss rolls. The aunty was also in an okay mood, no angry outbursts or snappy replies. I got the pandan kaya and strawberry. The pandan kaya was fragrant, and the sponge cake itself was soft. I liked the strawberry too. A lot. The buttercream was not too sweet, but sweet enough. The strawberry bits were fresh and they had a really nice sweet smell. It makes me want to go back and try the other flavors. It's very addictive too. I bought two rolls, and finished half within the hour after reaching home. Of each roll.

Yelp
I love it when my sister brings home these delicious Swiss rolls!! So small and yet so awesome!! I definitely would grow addicted to these if I could get them everyday!! The strawberry roll has strawberry jam in it, the jam itself is sweet but the butter cream gives it a slight tinge of buttery bland to it, offsetting the sweetness! I just can't get enough of that buttercream... The kaya swiss roll is what the rich & good bakery is famous for... however, I found the kaya pretty bland.. it wasn't as sweet as the strawberry swiss roll.. I mean, even the kaya spread for my bread tastes more "kaya-ish" than this.. but it is a very soft swiss roll smile and I still enjoyed it.. But I would definitely get more strawberry roll next time!! Since, takeaways are a must at Rich & good bakery, they provide you with really long boxes to accomodate the swiss rolls and don't forget to visit them again!! smile I need more strawberry swiss rolls in my life!

Yelp
Rich and Good refers to their signature kaya roll. Everything else I say after this is just in support of this one point...just so many more words to make sure you understand that it's the kaya roll that rocks! Another success in the form of a mother ship that spawned babies that are just as good. Of course, these babies are just retail outlets for the products of the one kitchen that bakes all that goodness. Rich and Good is also a small enough concern for the name to have some cache and garner you some foodie cred if you happen to show up with the kaya roll as a present. Trust me, it'll always be welcome, and not in the way that a fruit cake or a tub of ice cream might be, with a rictus of a grin, but with genuine delight. Ok, let's talk product. The kaya roll is a dense comforter of pandan sponge wrapping a generous layer of unctuous kaya. Consider this fair warning! The kaya roll is Category 1 Medication addictive.

Yelp
A retro little storefront is all that marks this hole-in-the-wall bakery along Kandahar Lane, where it's stood for 14 years to date. While it calls itself a cake shop, Rich & Good really only specialises in one type of cake - the Swiss Roll, a flat sheet of sponge cake with a layer of flavoured cream all rolled up. While it's the only cake you can get there, it is available in several delectable flavours; what's available is dependent on your luck because they only make certain quantities every day, so give them a call to reserve or pop by early if have particular cravings, because stuff can sell out quickly. What makes the Rich & Good Swiss Roll so good is the soft spongy texture of the cake, and that they use actual fruits in the cream which makes this treat super yummy without tasting too artificially sugary. My personal favourite is the Mandarin Orange flavour (which makes a great Chinese New Year snack), but the Kaya, Mango and Durian are quite popular as well. Ok who am I kidding, all the flavours are good, but I'm a little let down by the chocolate flavour because it's not as rich as I generally like it. It comes in a long roll about the length of your arm (my arm length at any rate) and are great for sharing if you're feeling generous. Anytime I'm in the area, I end up getting 2-3 rolls... just because!

Yelp
Full review and photos at FoodieFC's blog. Rich & Good Cake Shop is located in Arab Street next to Kampong Glam Conservation Area. This place has gotten quite a lot of positive word of mouth (WOM). Despite its location; at least 15 minutes away from the nearest MRT station (Bugis), this place was packed when I went there twice during lunch time. And it will not be easy to find this shop if you are not familiar with the area. In case you are wondering, this shop specialises in Swiss rolls. Stacks of unroll Swiss rolls. Yes, they make it themselves and they sell it in a whole roll; uncut. Wide variety of Swiss rolls and the prices. Nothing fancy about their packaging. Looks simple and dull. I ordered a Kaya Swiss Roll and a Coffee Swiss Roll for $13.00. The packaging and swiss rolls look simple. But appearances can be deceiving. The swiss rolls were soft and spongy. The Kaya Swiss Roll which is their best seller. The kaya was tasty, rich and fragrant. This is really a must try. Totally fantastic. The owner say that to keep the cake in the fridge and finish it up by 3 days. Well, it was so delicious that we finish it up within 24 hours. The Coffee Swiss Roll was quite delicious too. Soft, rich tasting coffee flavoured swiss roll. If you have not tried this, you will not know what you are missing. They sell lots of other flavours too such as Blueberry, Chocolate, Durian, Green Tea, Mango, Strawberry and Orange. As as it's shop name shout out, it's swiss rolls are really rich and good! Yelp
"I bought some rich and good cake." 'Oh really? Where did you get them from?' "Rich and good." 'Stop kidding me! Just where did you get them from???' #truestory For the unfamiliar, you would probably not know Rich & Good Cakes, which is tucked along one of the streets near Arab Street. It's a swiss-roll cake speciality shop, that sells nothing but swiss-roll cakes. As good as the signboard says! 'Rich & Good' ;) I love both the durian and kaya ones. Best and fresh!

Yelp
Buying cakes from the Rich and Good Cake Shop is truly an experience. Famous for their delicious swiss rolls, you can choose from a few flavours and order from the counter. Personally do enjoy the swiss rolls but I cant say that Im totally blown over by it. Some favourite flavours of my family includes the kaya, mandarin orange and the durian. As what I have written in my tips, do make sure you decide what you'll like to order before you enter the shop cos the aunties dont have much patience. Also, always have a back up flavour in mind if you must leave the shop with a cake, cos some flavours may be out at time of purchase and it's better to just call out the next flavour that you want than to stand there and think. Overall, a great dessert for the family to share or to bring to group gatherings (cos each swiss roll is about the length of a 30cm long ruler). They dont cut the cakes for you so do ask for a plastic knife if you need one to cut the cake yourself later.

Yelp
A good Swiss roll by any standard. It has a wide variety of favors to satisfy any cravings. We chanced upon this little traditional cake shop while roaming the little streets here. Cute enough for us to join the constant stream of customers. The lady boss proudly told us her most popular favors are durian and kaya. When we asked how many people per roll, she confidently told us "one person can finish one roll, my rolls are very light!". Ok, I wouldn't buy one whole roll per pax. While they are moist and light, they are not exactly something that you can finish by yourself. At least by my standard. I am not a Swiss roll person, so this is interesting and quite good, but not something that I will crave. My friends all enjoyed it, especially the kaya one. Love it for its old school charm though!

Yelp
I went to the shop at Changi airport but this Kaya Swiss roll is the best I've ever had. It's not overly sweet. Really flavorful Kaya flavor. Soft and great worth tea. LOVE IT!

Yelp
watch out arrogance will have its karma. negative customer service will be back to bite u sooner or later. no customer should be humiliated to enjoy a wonderful thing as a cake.

Yelp
I loveeeeeeeee Rich & Good. I, however, hate and despise durian. So I guess it's saying something when I actually look forward to eating the durian swiss rolls from here. Rich & Good specializes in rolls. Their rolls are the right amount of soft and spongy, sweet and delicious. The flavours are to die for. The kaya, especially, and even the durian as I said. It's become a must-do tourist attraction for me whenever I bring friends from out of town. I practically force feed them swiss rolls from here because I love it so much.

Yelp
A gem of a find, most people find out about this bakery through word of mouth. Which is good really, cos only the genuine people will visit. Located amidst the cafes and bars along the culturally rich Kandahar Street, Rich & Good have been churning out deliciously soft Swiss rolls for decades. With a host of flavours to choose from (kaya, mangao, blueberry, coffee and durian), this Swiss rolls are priced incredibly cheaply and come in just one size - foot long. Packaged in retro long pink boxes, this soft pillowy cakes are packed with dense fillings that make it a perfect tea time treat to have. As kaya is one of the most popular flavours, be sure to get there early or you'll have to wait till the next day to get them once it sells out.

Yelp
Rich and Good Cake shop as the name suggest sells rich and pretty good cakes. I would have to say that their hot selling Swiss Roll cakes are some of the best I tasted. The come in assorted flavors, I had the coffee and Kaya ones. Lovely! Not too sweet and not too heavy on the cream. The sponge is soft and truly moist, a real treat with a good cup of coffee for your afternoon break. The shop is tucked away in a row a shops and if you're not looking hard enough you might just miss the nondescript looking front door.

Yelp
Make a reservations for 15 Swiss rolls and carrot cake. However was told that we came late (we were there at 11.30am) and there they have given our orders to walk in customers. When we first made a reservation, the matured lady told us to come at 11am. However they didn't follow up with a call prior to collection day so we called them to confirm our orders, was told by a younger lady to come anytime before 12.30pm!! Seriously pissed that THEY have internal miscommunication and yet when we reach, the matured lady started to lecture us saying we were late and we shouldn't be late and now that we are late, it's our fault that they gave our orders to walk in customers. Wth is wrong with their attitude? Super poor client management even when it's their own fault. You don't tell off customers when your own staff told us to come anytime. Definitely WILL NOT PATRONIZE THEM. Good customer service is everything, just because your Swiss rolls is good doesn't mean you can be so rude to your customers. We are paying customers, without us do you think your shop can survive? If you want to experience super bad customer service, do go to them. This is not the first time they have complaints!
