I've ordered takeout from Richie's Kitchen before, but this was my first time eating in. We were actually on our way to another place, but as we were walking by, I realized that Richie's had just opened for the day, so we stopped in. The ambiance and service were definitely worth it! The inside is very trendy and modern, but also warm. They had great merengue and bachata playing. It reminded me of the big parties my family used to throw when I was a kid.
My son was very energetic, so he was running around a little bit, but our server was very kind about it (he wasn't touching anything he shouldn't and there weren't other patrons until just before we left).
The food was FANTASTIC. I got los tres golpes with a side of coffee. The plating was gorgeous (see the picture). The egg that came with it was fried TO PERFECTION. Nice and crispy on the outside and exactly the right consistency of runny yolk. It was legitimately the best fried egg I've ever had. My son had a grilled cheese sandwich from the kids' menu, plus a side of plátanos maduros, which he was very pleased with. I also got him a morir soñando to try for the first time. He liked it a little; I liked it a lot and was happy to help him finish it.
All in all, I'm very happy that we stopped in. It's just good Dominican food, made by someone who clearly knows high-end cooking. I'll have to make a point of eating in more often. And I'm DEFINITELY taking my parents the next time they come to visit (tbh, I was already going to do that based on the takeout, though).
