Great views fro. The Richmond Castle over town and surrounding areas. We had an English Heritage pass so no additional charge ... Nice little shop with selection of ice creams and some local gin too.

Great day at Richmond Castle again. Norman re-enactment group, in place over this weekend. Very good showing different types of Armour and weapons of that time. Shields, maces and of course swords. Stalls talking about the found options at the time with taste options, cheese cake very nice, but not like modern cheese cake. Another stall concentrated on the types of medicines at the time, more options than you might think, very informative. All in all a great day thanks

We had a wonderful time visiting Richmond Castle! The site is full of fascinating history, and the surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. The castle sits right in the heart of a charming town with convenient parking nearby. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the English Heritage facilities were great. There are accessible toilets and facilities for disabled visitors, which was really appreciated. We explored the castle easily even with a young child. Highly recommended for a peaceful and scenic day out!

Partially ruined castle with the keep still standing and accessible giving fantastic views over the surrounding countryside There is a large grassy areas inside the walls suitable for games and picnic. One dide of the castle ends in a steep drop and isn't adequately fenced off so keep an eye on children There is also a small exhibition room just off the entrance charting the history of the castle and its inhabitants which is quite interesting

Parking in the town centre. Busy but managed to park ok. Some disabled parking. Lovely town centre with a small market on when we went. Short uphill walk to the castle. Stunning views. Climb the keep for fantastic views all round. The Green Howard's regimental museum is close by.

Yelp
A castle atop of Richmond. Great views from the Tower. Not much else of substance after all these years compared to some of the other great area castles. The short walk to the falls down below and the falls themselves are lovely. The gift shop was great, full of trinkets and gin and the girls super helpful.

Yelp
Another great example of our great British Heratage. A large Norman tower dominates Richmond town & surrounding country side. The view to the north York Moore's to the East is spectacular on a clear day. It's well worth a visit if in the town, together with the Green Howard's Museum in the market place. The is no immediate car park but plenty of parking in and around the town which is easy walking distance. Within the castle walls is a clean & well maintained toilet block, should get caught short. Point to note, the top of the tower is accessible by a very narrow & steep staircase.

Yelp
An interesting castle; well worth a visit. There's plenty of it to explore, some of it at quite dizzying heights -- you get spectacular views of the town and the surrounding countryside from the top. There's quite a lot of useful information around too, giving you details of the long history of the place. The day we went (a couple of years ago now) it was fairly wet, and this was a distinct disadvantage -- we could have spent longer there had it been dry. But all in all, it is definitely worth the entrance fee, and we would certainly go again (whatever the weather!) when we're next in the area.

Yelp
Medieval castle in the pretty town of Richmond on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It looks wonderfully impressive from the outside and is definitely worth a visit to have an explore within its walls. Naturally a lot of the castle has been lost over the years but there is enough left to give you a sense of its previous grandeur. There are a few 'rooms' still standing and a pretty enclosed garden but the highlight for me is the tower/keep. You can climb to the very top for wonderful views of Richmond and the surrounding countryside and it is probably worth the entrance fee for this alone. The keep was built in the 12th century by the wonderfully named Duke Conan the Little and the castle is one of the oldest stone built castles in England, equalled in age only by Colchester and Durham Castles. There is an exhibition Centre and also a shop so you can pass an interesting hour or so within the castle's walls. It is an English Heritage property and when I visited in 2012 it was £4.70 Adult, £4.20 Concession and £2.80 Child, English Heritage members Free. It doesn't have its own car park though so it is necessary to find somewhere to park in Richmond and then walk to the castle.
