Rooms are simple, but a good size for a typical hotel and bigger than Japanese business hotels. There is no public bath, but the amenities include 3 different bath salts to choose from. These amenities are all at the lobby, free for guests to receive. (The drip coffee in individual packs is of good quality too!) Service is straightforward and fast. Payments and check-out are done thru the self-service machines. The location can either be good or bad, depending on what you like. It is at the edge of a drinking area with many drinking places and Japanese girls bar (places where guests enjoy drinks with women staff). However, it is still Japan so I have never felt it to be less safe than anywhere else, contrary to what some reviews here say.

If you want to travel comfortably and safe with your family, avoid this hotel at all costs. The location is in middle of borderline redline district where there are girl’s bars and drunks are everywhere at night when the night clubs and bars open even just right across the street from this hotel. If you are on a budget, and would love to explore the night life, this is a great location where you can basically walk anywhere historical during the day light. but for me, and my opinion only, I would rather spend money elsewhere. My family stayed at this hotel for a few nights because we weren’t eligible to cancel the reservation. I would give this hotel a negative star if I could. The rooms - we requested a non-smoking room and the room has a strong smoke odor. My kids hate the smell of smoke and we asked if we could switch rooms and we were told that there are no vacant rooms at the moment and cannot change our reservation. It was such a horrible experience. On top of that, the sink area and bath tub reminded me of 1980’s old bath tub and the tub didn’t drain properly, and the water took about 5 minutes to drain after I showered, which I felt unsanitary. If you want to explore 1980 style business hotels, this is it. I am usually laid back about the hotel, and I should have done enough research before I reserved the rooms (due to an inexpensive cost per night compared to other hotels in the area). It was 100% my fault for choosing this hotel and I am leaving this review so others don’t make the same mistakes as I did. Save your money and go elsewhere, make sure to look at the addresses of where you are staying to make sure that the location is safe for you and your family.

We were pitting this hotel against other chains like Dormy Inn and Candeo Hotels. Richmond’s value proposition is that you pay less but have less amenities. The rooms are bigger that what we were comparing with but you do not get a public bath and you do not get free drinks and noodles. For the price I think that Richmond is good in that aspect. The hotel lobby is nice and pays homage to the Dutch visiting Japan eons ago as Nagasaki was the first place they came into contact with then. It’s a typical chain hotel, but its located along the bar and nightlife street, though the events happening around that street didn’t bother us, I believe that the price is lowered due to the location of the place.

Room is spacious and bed comfortable. Easy registration and check out. Customer service pretty good. Also location is superb, near eateries and shops, very useful. However, to be frank, we find the car parking a bit stressful because you have to drive into a narrow lift. Well, the hotel is in the middle of the city so car parking space is very limited.

Yelp
Very comfortable hotel at the very center of commercial area of Nagasaki. A tram station is very closed. This would be a perfect choice if you are planning short trip around Nagasaki. 長崎きっての歓楽街「思案橋」の中心にあるホテル.路面電車駅からも近い.
