Nice travel, 8 hr waiting to take the next flight but it was not bad. First time in the city, It’s clean and nice. The airport has a lot of good food inside, bathrooms everywhere, free water in the walls in dispenser. It was a beautiful experience. They have a bus to move you from one place to another completely free. Employees helping people in wheelchairs. Lovely 🥰

I flew in last night because I'm visiting family here in Virginia, and honestly it was one of my favorite airports that I've been to most recently, and i fly alot. I say this because it's smaller so it's easy to navigate, and it wasn't too crowded. Very clean, quiet and welcoming.

Google
Very clean and surprisingly empty, made the whole experience smooth! Security check was super quick with almost no wait. Great airport for domestic travel, hassle-free and efficient. Overall great experience

Google
What a great airport! I flew out on a Sunday afternoon and it was so quiet and easy to navigate. The airport is well designed, and I waited zero minutes for TSA PreCheck. The Delta staff were super friendly and welcoming. There are plenty of restrooms, food, and beverage options, plus the WiFi is lightning fast. The rental car facility is connected directly to the terminal, making the whole process easy breezy. Looking forward to flying through Richmond again soon! Pro tip: If you have TSA PreCheck, this airport is a dream—no lines at all. And renting a car here is seamless since the facility is attached to the terminal.

I enjoy watching the planes get into position and as I was watching I had the opportunity to learn some neat facts about the airplane ✈️ when they do take off. I had a great time delivering an order to another pilot.

Google
I have been through this airport several times and have typically had a great experience. But today upon entering the security process my family and I have never been treated more poorly. The TSA associate barked at us from the moment we stepped up for our turn to show identification. We didn’t hand her anything the “right way” apparently and she scolded us at every turn. I truly hope it was just a rough morning, but if not, she is someone who definitely should not be working with the public. Do better Richmond TSA.

Google
Ashley in baggage claim was radiant with enthusiasm and a kind smile. In addition, the facilities are always clean, restrooms are clean. Parking is a breeze, it’s a crisp 68° when it’s 100° outside. Simply a pleasure flying in and out of Richmond International Airport.

Taina De La O Henriquez

Google
The staff is friendly. However, the airport is terrible for long waits or flight delays because there are no places to get food. Additionally, there aren't many amenities or places to sit and wait. These aspects should be improved.

Yelp
We love Richmond International airport. It's such an easy airport to navigate. TSA moves quickly for both pre-check and the main lanes. Bathrooms are bright and clean. Baggage has been very good lately. The shuttles to the close-by economy lots are excellent! They run often and drop you off at your car. We always try to park in economy for the savings at $7/day vs. $12/day for the garages. It's also easy to pick up visitors with a close cell phone lot. The only downside are low number of food options.
google avatar

Serge A.

Yelp
Mostly due to the TSA. It's a heavy bottle neck. Only side an and side b. The lines get 20-40 mins long and people get impatient and creative forcing the TSA team to react which is always nasty and rude. I would get to the airport at least 2 hours prior.... Also they do not have CLEAR for quick TSA. Although they do have expedite TSA.

Yelp
Small airport but oh so clean! Flew in on a Friday night and it was not busy at all. Basically got off the plane, gathered my belongings, went down the escalator and bam, I was outside waiting to get picked up. I left Richmond two days later on a Sunday afternoon and going through security was a breeze. There was two lines to get through security. One for regular and the other for precheck. Though the lines were kinda long, going through went rather quickly. Next thing you know I was at my gate. This is a smaller airport so I wasn't expecting a whole lot but I do appreciate the cleanliness and how efficient the TSA officers were with the passengers getting through security. I literally got to the airport 1 hour before takeoff and still had time to pick up a snack by my gate and enjoy it before boarding.
google avatar

Barbara C.

Yelp
Richmond airport is a smaller airport. An older airport with updates throughout. Carpet was updated and some of the gate areas. Security line was long but they only have a regular line and TSA no Clear. Landing and getting through the gate to the car rental was a breeze. The signage was great the walkways were wide and large and easy to navigate. The personnel were friendly and helpful. There aren't many food choices. Eateries are limited. The restrooms are a bit outdated and the sink has some mold. The restrooms can use some more cleaning and some of the sinks were out of commission.
google avatar

Cheryl M.

Yelp
It's a very small airport. Not very busy but they're friendly and they have what you need. There are a couple of restaurants and coffee shops. Smaller security area and shorter lines. Busy but just smaller.
google avatar

Heather M.

Yelp
This was by far one of the easiest check ins I've ever had The staff are so friendly and legit happy to be here We decided to fly out of here rather than Norfolk the flights were cheaper and the drive about the same but avoiding the tunnel is priceless
google avatar

Yelp
The Richmond International Airport is very clean, spacious and updated. I flew SWA from the A gates. Granted it was a 7:30am flight so, there no lines and all was quiet within the airport. Bathrooms were extremely clean and well kept. There was only 1 gift shop and 1 restaurant/bar in the middle of A Gate terminal which wasn't good since there wasn't much of a selection. It was a bit strange to see people at the bar drinking beer at 7am on a Sunday!! I'm barely awake so I can't imagine chugging beer this early in the morning. AND I couldn't find anywhere to get coffee! Ugh! There was a drinking fountain but it didn't have those water bottle filling station that are convenient and helpful. Because there was no coffee vendor and no water bottle filling station, I gave this airport a 4-star rating!

Yelp
I flew into E gate and walked to A gate to leave with American Airlines back home. After a week of pizza and hamburgers, I was craving lighter fare so picked up some sushi on the way to my gate at the big central food court. The sushi was fresh but the people that worked there were a bit rude. Once I arrived at A gate I realized I was not going to be able to leave unless I went through security again. It was disappointing I would not be able to walk to the big central mall area if I wanted. There were signs to warn you couldn't go back once you were already in the gate but it was inconvenient given I had a long layover. In A gate there were a few places to eat but it was so crowded, it would have been hard to get a table. They had several charging stations but the chairs were not very comfortable and had no back support. The bathrooms were mostly clean and had plenty of soap and paper towels. If arriving and taking a rideshare, make sure you wait in the upper level departures area, the signs to wait for the rideshare in the airport were misleading. Overall an ok experience for a crowded airport.
google avatar

Kimmi S.

Yelp
Richmond airport was nice and quiet a 10am...very few travelers. Made a restroom stop and bags were already done in baggage claim. Seems like a good place to make a connecting flight
google avatar

Andy M.

Yelp
The Good - smaller crowds and easy to get thru security. Not spread out so short walk to your gate and the people working in the airport were quick to show you where to go and quick to answer questions. The Bad - Not a lot of places to get food. Car Rental was under staffed and the vehicles were filthy. Airport seems to be dated and in need of an expansion / revamp and needs more choices to get food and coffee.
google avatar

Yelp
This airport is so small and is super easy and fast to go through! I wish it had more direct flights but honestly I'll take it to have an easy and smooth TSA. They only have two terminals which is nice and easy! Not a lot of options for food to get at the airport. I am on crutches and requested wheelchair access. Wow, the lady that helped my friend and I was sooo friendly and helpful! The guy that pushed me in the wheelchair was super nice and friendly, especially for it being so early in the morning. Even on the way back from the trip the guy that helped us was super friendly!!

Yelp
Richmond International Airport is a small airport. They split between a concourse A and B For the different airlines. I always love that TSA is always super quick for non precheck people. It's alway 10 minutes or less every time I've come. The seats are ok but not they aren't as modern like bigger airports and they do not have any ac outlet on these chairs. To charge a device you need to go to a charging desk/table but they are often filled up. Bathrooms are ok. Restaurant is a bit below average. And the big thing is no airport lounge for those with credit card or status. Overall good for a small airport.
google avatar

J David H.

Yelp
After over a dozen times using RIC it's consistently above average. Keep in mind however it's not a large airport. They fly more directs the Norfolk which is a plus. Not a lot of food options, but you will find enough to not starve. Your big carriers fly out from here, but I don't recall discount lines. I will stick to Norfolk International for convenience and skip the 1:30 min drive when I can.
google avatar

Erica B.

Yelp
No frills airport. Possibly one of the easiest I've ever been through. Zero line, zero wait on a Sunday around 8pm. Also zero food options available (can't remember which gate I was in), but I was flying southwest. I stoped at 2 bars, the kitchen was closed, drinks only. Bummer because my flight was delayed. Clean restrooms!
google avatar

Cas R.

Yelp
TSA at this airport is cool because it's split by gate so the lines aren't too long, but they closed all restrooms due to the weather, which is ridiculous because should anyone need a restroom, they have to exit the terminal and go back through TSA. Compared to other nearby airports, they could do a better job salting and clearing the roads. This airport does offer direct flights and shopping available in terminal, but during heavy winter weather, Charlottesville might be the better airport.
google avatar

Mike F.

Yelp
Richmond International Airport is a smaller airport, but it consistently impresses with its cleanliness and fast service. I'm always to my gate without fighting through the long lines. One of my favorite airports.
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
We like to fly into and out of the Richmond International Airport. It's small enough to be easy to maneuver, yet large enough to offer frequent flights to desirable locations. The airport is clean, staff are friendly, and the parking (and highway access) are easy. Not a 5-star rating only because the fast food restaurants are often closed when we arrive in the evening. Unfortunately, we can often get better international fares by flying out of one of the Washington, DC airports.

Janice M C.

Yelp
To many rules on what you can take in your carry on bag. They don't care how much it costs you, if it's not the right size they take it out a throw it out. Not allow to take any kind of liquid on what's so ever. Just so ridiculous. Ppl spend money on their things to use not to be thrown out. What airports should do is put those things in a separate container and place up in a secure spot in the plane. Then the ppl can grab it after their flight. That would be the smart idea. Maybe next time I travel I may just rethink if I want to take a plane or just drive or a train if Available for my trip.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
Check in was smooth, but unless you are cutting it close to your flight time, there's not a lot to offer. There was no chain coffee joint like Dunkin's or Starbucks, only Ironclad Coffee. When I was finally hungry for a snack, staff disappeared from behind the desk. There was another customer that walked away before me. Ended up eating at Cross Grain Brew House (separate review there). I was frustrated with the bathrooms as well. The sensors on the faucets didn't work and on one side, the soap didn't dispense.
google avatar

Michele F.

Yelp
I love flying out of RIC. It's a small airport and the longest I've ever had to wait at the TSA checkpoint is about 10 minutes. No need to arrive well in advance of your flights. My only criticism is that there are very limited food options that are pretty pricey. Best to stop to grab a bite to eat before you get to the airport.
google avatar

Emily B.

Yelp
I am so thankful that the Richmond Airport has direct flights to Chicago. It is so easy and quick to travel through this airport. It's also very clean - even the bathrooms are great. There's not a lot of great airport food options, just the regular Hudson News stands and some small coffee shops and Applebees so make sure to pack food and drinks beforehand. One thing that was super easy about my travel today was the parking. I parked in Economy B for $7/day which is a great price! There were people waiting there with shuttles to direct me to a spot and take me right to the airport. They were so nice and helpful and the whole process took less than 10 minutes. And the airport has free wifi which works pretty well. It made my experience great!
google avatar

Isaiah V.

Yelp
Great airport! Very nice terminal and very clean restrooms. Although I'm not from Richmond I usually fly Norfolk international, this place does give me a decent vibe of RVA. I do think that VCU has too much branding in the terminal and limited Richmond "feel" but it was fine. TSA was very fast and efficient. Out of all the airports I've been to this one is somewhat similar in size and feel to Raleigh Durham airport. I'd fly here again if the price is decent.
google avatar

Sterling G.

Yelp
Good sized airport. Some issues with TSA. Very slow through the regular line. Even more difficult when you have plates in your ankle.
google avatar

Lou C.

Yelp
Cute little airport. Richmond International Airport RIC is the smallest airport that I have been. According to my Uber driver, they spent some money to remodel and upgrade the airport. I think they did a good job. First time arriving, I was mad because all the budget eateries were closed during a Saturday afternoon at Concourse B. I didn't need to go far to look because there were only 6 restaurants and I can't have any of these restaurants for my dietary restrictions. The airport is divided by an Atrium. To one side is Concourse A with premium airlines and Concourse B for budget airlines. Each concourse has its own TSA Checkpoint. Once you leave the concourse, you need to go through TSA again. There are many charging stations throughout concourse B as the only concourse I've been. I assume it's the same on concourse A. Just not in the Atrium. I used the outlets at Ironclad Coffee Roasters for charging while I recharge with some caffeine.
google avatar

Shana S.

Yelp
This is one of the nicest, cleanest airports that I have ever been to . Never crowded. Love it
google avatar

Steve M.

Yelp
The airport was clean and very easy to get around. I definitely like the fact that you do not have to take a shuttle to and from the rental car garage. That is always a huge plus. They have free internet but you basically have to sign your life away to get on it so I figured I would pass because you only last all that legal stuff if you have had problems. Overall a nice airport.
google avatar

Miss L.

Yelp
Oh my gosh, I love this airport! Everyone we have encountered has been so friendly, especially the JetBlue team. Parking onsite is convenient, navigation inside is a breeze, and there are lots of areas to relax before you board.
google avatar

Hazel K.

Yelp
Richmond International Airport definitely needs a remodel. I am aware that yes, Richmond is small but getting stuck here for 8 hours I can tell you that they need an upgrade. The chairs here is uncomfortable and they do not even have a charger underneath or even close to the chairs. you have to move to an outlet or they have a small area on the middle of the walkway and there you can charge your phone. Also, this airport is darker than most airports that I have been, hence they need a face lift. They have few restaurants to offer but nothing that I am crazy about. I do believe that they should renovate this airport since Richmond is growing. Bathroom is also very outdated. I think what will be nice is, if they invite the smaller business owners to open a small spot in the airport so that people who are travelling in Richmond will see that we have lots of great places to offer.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
This is a nice clean spacious airport. Returning my rental car was nice and easy. Checking in was a delight. Then I get to TSA checkpoint and that's where it went off the rails. There was one security guard checking IDs for both Pre-checks and regular passengers. So of course this slowed things down. And if that wasn't enough the people scanning were so slow. The entire line was backed up. There were too many TSA people standing around. At one point I saw two security guards walking away ostensibly to go on break I guess. Um no breaks can wait until customers are taken care of. RIC is a small airport. I've gotten thru security at a quicker pace at much larger airports And of course there is no Starbucks at this airport so I couldn't order ahead. There was one coffee shop with backed up lines and no sense of urgency from the employees behind the counter. So here I sit sans coffee waiting
google avatar

Starr D.

Yelp
Oh my, love how much less people are in this airport, only if I live close to this airport, i will be flying out of here as often as I can . Compare to LAX, DCA, IAD, BWI, OHR... this is the 2nd airport I've been to so far, that is nice and clean and barely have anyone. Security check was super fast, staff throughout the airport are so friendly. Only 2 restaurants choices, but for couple hours of wait, its good enough.
google avatar

Catherine S.

Yelp
Needs wheelchair assistance and they were AMAZING!! Very kind and helpful. Very positive and patient. And during the holidays too! Great people!
google avatar

Leslie C.

Yelp
Smooth, positive experience. Very clean, not crowded, and friendly service. Very easy getting in and out of this airport. Going through security is quick and painless. I appreciate that they have water filling stations frequently throughout the airport, as well as electronic recharging stations. They also offer Mother's Rooms, so my friend can comfortably nurse and change her baby's diaper. They encourage social distancing with signs on the floor, as well as marking middle seats off so people will sit on the end seats.
google avatar

Lea L.

Yelp
Great airport! One level. More flights are added so I was able to take this to travel back to Los Angeles. Swift and effortless!
google avatar

Jeff U.

Yelp
I thought the airport was easy to get in and out of. We did not park a car as we had used Uber to get there. I thought it was clean and it had ample stores to be able to buy things once you cleared security. The planes were on time, and the staff was nice.it didn't take very long to get through security either but maybe that's because we arrived earlier than most everyone else.
google avatar

Rose T.

Yelp
We have got to do better and upgrade RIC, that airport is so depressing and such a. Ghosts town. There's only like 4 restaurants/coffee shops inside and most of them weren't even open yet. The bathrooms were also very filthy. The only reason I give it 2 stars is because going though security wasn't a breeze.
google avatar

Darnell P.

Yelp
Hit or miss. You never know what customer service you're going to get here. Recently, travelling is a pressure cooker. I had a great visit this morning. Good luck to those who are traveling!

Nava B.

Yelp
This is the first time we have been to Richmond Airport. We were very worried about the parking situation, but were pleasantly surprised. We have never been to any airport where the parking has been so easy and well-organized. Add to that the people who take you to and from the terminal and it was pretty perfect. The people were efficient, friendly, and helpful. The check-in is efficient and quick although, as in any airport, most of the people are officious. Regardless, there are decent food options and the bathrooms are clean.
google avatar

Lena M.

Yelp
I love flying out of RIC. It's a small airport so it's quick to get through. Since I have TSA Pre-check, I usually come about an hour before my flight with no issues. There are only two terminals (A and B) which aren't too long. This airport doesn't have a lot of options for food. The restaurants inside aren't great (pricey for not so great food), but it's nice to have something to eat if needed. When flying from RIC you'll usually have one stop somewhere, but there are a few non-stop flights to bigger cities. While there are some small airport trade-offs, I do love how close this airport is and how easy it is to get around.
google avatar

Arcadia S.

Yelp
I don't fly except once every 23 years, but I most definitely transport my air traveler loved ones to and from the airport on the regular. Not all airports are created equal and Richmond International Airport stands out as especially user friendly imo. It's laid out intuitively, from parking to drop off to pick up to baggage claim, it's all good. Great big glass walls, natural lighting, clean restrooms, cute waiting lounge... they nailed it.

Terry W.

Yelp
Flights are consistly delayed or on returning flights canceled or extended delays. I love this aiport for parking, ease of check in and security. However the airlines- Delta, United and American flying in an out just aren't dependable unless you don't mind rerouting and driving last legs. Example 1- American to Dulles connection to San Fran flight. Flight was full, weighed too much and it took an hour to get 3 people to we be willing to get off plane, then we had to wait 45 minutes to get luggaged pulled. Forty minute flight to 2 1/2 hours. Another example, coming back from Dulles, JFK (yesterday), Dallas, Chicago and Charlotte flights canceled and we were told we had to wait 2-3 days for flights. Yep not next day. Rated worst to bad- American, Delta, United. We've had to reroute to Dulles instead multiple times and rent a car ($200) for 3 hours to drive to Richmond and get our car. Hopefully the airport could push the airlines a little to no cancel flights? My sense is most our canceled flights was demand or lack of demand and trying to consolitade flights. That would be fine except the airlines don't rebook dependably or you get to call a 800# and let's just say, good luck. Last thing your need after multiple international flights is to have to deal with last piece canceled while your in route.

Vilija T.

Yelp
TSA is fairly easy & simple, well at least at 4:00 AM. B Gates seem pretty quiet, not sure what later in the day could bring. My only issue was Return Rental Cars. There are signs, but not clearly seen (behind shrub/tree) or clear directions. I travel on a regular basis & I had no issues. Now, if I was an unfamiliar traveler; I could understand their frustrations.
google avatar

Jodi B.

Yelp
Easy and small airport. Security is usually quick if you have TSA pre. Not many dining options on the American side.

Yvonne C.

Yelp
Richmond International Airport is the worse airport I have ever been in. This airport was full of flying bugs. They kept crawling on the chairs which were cloth. They should get rid of them. Unfortunately I spent 2 days stuck in this airport due to a storm in Florida so my flight kept being delayed. It was horrible. Not enough airport staff. There were no bugs at the entrance they were in the seating area in the middle of the airport. There was no cleaning people around. The bathroom was smelly and needed cleaning but no one was around to clean. They had 1 restaurant Applebees and I literally got cold food. My fries were hard and cold. The burger was just about frozen but it was cooked. Then there is a little store with pastries and coffee. One lady said someone will be with us shortly but we waited an hour for someone to help us.
google avatar

Diana C.

Yelp
Easy in and out. Very short TSA lines with easy to follow directions throughout the airport. Just enough restaurants / shops for passengers waiting to depart. The ride share pick up area was easy to find and easy for pick ups and drop offs
google avatar

Joe G.

Yelp
always takes too long for baggage. I can understand when it's busy, but we got in at midnight & it took nearly an hour. this airport just isn't that big or busy. the parking folks, on the other hand, are all over it. dropped us off close to the car & all. bit of a mixed experience.

Brian C.

Yelp
The Richmond airport is small and clean and easy. This has to be the most poorly run Delta staff that exists in the US. The crew has no idea when the planes are getting there and always seem to be coming g off break to guide planes to the gate. You can wait 3-15 minutes with no other planes. What a joke. I have never seen an airport staff that doesn't know how to work the luggage belts. Put it on another belt already if you can't get this to work. So piss poor of a crew on the ground here in RIC. Never have I seen one plane take 30 minutes to get bags into the carousel. Management is to blame in this airport!
google avatar

Drew O.

Yelp
Ive flown into this airport a lot more when I was at FedEx. It's small and doesn't offer many food options. I assume the security lines are manageable because it's a small airport but I wouldn't know. Typical small airport.
google avatar

Scott G.

Yelp
Very easy airport to transit though and my local airport as well. Lots of destinations to go to as well from RIA.
google avatar

Katelyn F.

Yelp
Quiet and clean airport. Decent dining options if waiting for a flight and lots of places to charge electronics.
