Rick's Cafe Americain

This was one of my favorite meals in Cape Town and probably one of the best burgers that I have ever had. The cocktail was also delicious! Highly recommend getting the mojito and the Brie burger as they were divine. The service is also incredible and friendly. The vibes are immaculate and I could not recommend this place enough!

My partner and I decided to try out Rick's Cafe Americain on Kloof Street without a reservation, and we were pleasantly surprised by the experience. Despite not having booked in advance, we were seated at a table on the rooftop portion of the restaurant, which offered a lovely view of the city, even at night. The ambiance of the rooftop and bar area was inviting, with tasteful decor that added to the overall vibe of the place. While the service from the waitstaff was satisfactory, it didn't particularly stand out as exceptional. One aspect of Rick's Cafe Americain that we appreciated was the variety of options available, especially for those following a vegan or vegetarian diet. I opted for the homemade potato gnocchi, while my boyfriend chose the Rick’s cheeseburger. Both dishes were flavourful and enjoyable. However, the cocktails we ordered definitely left a lasting impression. I had a wonderful old fashioned, while my boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed his drink as well. In summary, our dining experience at Rick's Cafe Americain was pleasant overall. The rooftop setting, coupled with decent cuisine and satisfying cocktails, made for an enjoyable evening. While it may not have been a culinary adventure of a lifetime, it certainly left us with good memories and we recommend stopping by for a drink.

One of the beautiful rooftops in the city. Wide range of cocktails, wine and the atmosphere makes it a whole package. Yet to try their food though so can’t say much about their food menu. It’s a lovely place, l recommend this restaurant

We went there twice during our stay in beautiful Capetown. Rick‘s is an incredible restaurant with a stylish interior! I can recommend to make reservations for the rooftop or the balcony. The food was fresh, delicious and the strawberry margaritas divine! Additionally the service was extremely friendly. It was the perfect evening with view on table mountain. :) I loved it!

Visited Rick's for Father's Day with my family. We booked the rooftop terrace. Loved the ambience coupled with the breathtaking view. The food was delicious and everyone cleared their plates and the drinks were amazing. I also appreciated that they have good variety of vegetarian options. Service was unfortunately an issue. We waited a while for a waiter after being seated. We eventually had to waive one down with my husband having to tap him on the arm to get his attention. Due to the initial wait, we just ordered food and drinks together but waited quite a while for that too. Again, I had to stop the waiter to check how far our drinks were. There was no communication or check in to let us know that our food/ drinks was on the way. This unfortunately placed a damper on what was meant to be a celebration.

We were a group of 40 people on the rooftop section and the service I received was excellent, from our arrival, and the waiter keeping me up-to-date with what was happening in the kitchen with our foods, to the bill payment at the end of the day, all was excellent. Even when we had to vacate our table for the next booking, it was done respectfully and we were guided to the couches close by where we could continue our "kuier". Enjoyed the food (we ordered platters), making the booking was easy, the ambience was perfect and of course the view of the mountain was stunning. Will definitely go again, and will recommend peeps there.

This restaurant has great views of the table mountain. However, the service wasn’t great and I think it was due to the fact that they were hosting a birthday party and the restaurant was full downstairs. We would call the waiter and they would signal that they will attend to us shortly but we waited for them for 20 minutes. I had their fish and chips and it wasn’t appetizing and not nice at all. Their fries were too crisp. I did enjoy their cocktail.
