Rick's Cafe Americain

We were on our way to another well known restaurant just down the road when the rooftop at Rick's drew my attention. We went in for drinks and lunch, and to enjoy the views of Cape Town and Table Mountain. The rooftop deck is fantastic, as is the rest of the venue's decor. Service is professional and friendly, and prices were on par with my expectations. The only drawback for some might be that you cannot bring your own wine. I ordered the lemon chicken tagine, which exceeded my expectations especially with regards to portion size. The next visit will be on a perfect summer's evening for sure!

Amazing place, a must see. Great views from the roof with heaters and solid music choices, waiters were exceptional very friendly and funny. Had the spicy seafood mix blew my mind. The middle floors are quite chill as well some couches and the like to sit back and relax, something for everyone

The ambience was incredible. Awesome views on Table Mountain. The food was flavourful and unique. Service was attentive and fun. Ronald & Simba were absolutely lovely waiters. Will definitely come back for that lamb shank tajine!

This is an old time favourite spot of mine. I remember visiting Rick's when they were still in their old building. I stumbled upon them the first time after leaving a group of VIPs that I was chaperoning at Fat Cactus and needed a bite to eat.The owner was sitting on the 'stoep' in front and we started chatting and ever since then, (sorry FC) I used to take our groups here, all the way to the roof top. The vibe is best at sunset in my, always want to have fun, opinion. They have happy hour from 3pm (I think) Please check. Think Cuban, Moroccon, American and Mexican-fusion. I have traveled a bit myself and Rick's Cafe Americain - Restaurant & Bar, Cape Town reminds me of my travelling days. The decor is stunning, and something different. This business has survived so many set backs, (nevermind c19) but due to the owners dedication and passion, his love for good food and his staff, they have survived every single one of them. I love the new location! Just look at the view. Table Mountain goosebumps. I have been visiting them for the past 13 years (gosh correct me if I am wrong) and have always had absolutely amazing service and delicious meals, prepared with care and love and plated with detail. Do yourself a favour and try their platters! Mondays is burger special day, buy one get one free on selected burgers. Well, on all of them,except the double patty one. It was delicious, also the best Aperol spritzer that I have had in a long time. Thank you, Charles for the great service and care. Meals are super affordable and try to go when the lights are all on and the Cape Tonians are out. You will, just like me, drive from the other side of CT to visit, and leave with a massive smile on your face. Take friends, places like these are meant to be shared with others. ♡

If ever you have that itch for a some nostalgia then Ricks is definitely the place for you. I'm sure alot of people won't really get the atmosphere but those that do are in for a treat. The service is great and quick, they never missed a moment to ask us if we needed anything and the whole evening flowed well. It never felt rushed but we also never felt like we were waiting. I would advise going in a bit hungry because the serving sizes were quite large but also delicious and you do want to keep some space for desserts

We had a great time there on Friday evening, first sat downstairs at the bar while nice music was played by a trio Rick and the Ricksters, then went to the second floor where there was a great restaurant. If you don't know where to go, you would leave again right away, but luckily we had a delicious meal from the extensive menu. After dinner we had a nice nightcap at the bar while enjoying the live music.

Thank you for making my daughters 20th so amazing! Jolene was incredible and she went out of her way to make sure everything was great! Thank you so much!! She loved the Jazz band as well! So much effort everyone did to make sure the night was incredible! 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Apart from the great cocktails (including their unique Kloof Street Hurricane), the ambiance and decor at Rick’s Cafe Americain will be the highlight of your experience here. Even on a quiet weekday, the atmosphere is so inviting. We’re looking forward to trying the food on our next visit.
