"Amongst the Alps An hour outside of Zurich is Mount Rigi, one of the most stunning places I've ever seen. Departing from Zurich on a day tour, we drove by bus to Lucerne where we were lead to a cable car depot at the foothill of the mountain before continuing uphill by train. This took us close to the summit where we carried on by foot. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day. The air was fresh, the lake crystal clear, the sky blue, the sun bright and the experience priceless. Once atop the mountain within the Alps, we were in awe of the spectacular panoramic views, we contemplated life and took time out for lunch at the hilltop restaurant before heading back to Lucerne by ferry before dusk. As you see here, it was a joyful day. We did flips and cartwheels amid the Alps to mark the success of our accomplished journey. It's most definitely a day I won't forget. By barbara chennault"

An amazing, breathtaking experience! We took the cogwheel train up to Rigi Kulm and then the cable car down to Weggis. The view of the Alps from the top is absolutely fantastic. The moment you cross the cloud barrier in the cable car is a truly memorable experience. Combining the boat trip on Lake Lucerne with Mount Rigi is a must-do. Highly recommended!

This one of the most beautiful cloud beds I have seen in my life. No amount of words can describe the beauty of this place. Must visit if you are anywhere in Lucerne or Zurich. It was free with Swiss travel pass. We had amazing time there.

The access from Luzern is convenient. While I went sightseeing, the souvenir shop at the station kindly kept my suitcase for me. The staff there were very friendly and kind, and I ended up buying some souvenirs afterward. The view from the mountain was beautiful. Although it was cloudy at first, the clouds gradually cleared, and I was able to fully enjoy the scenery.

Absolutely breathtaking! My last summer trip for the year and so glad we made the train ride up here. Low key we didn’t hike up only down but that was more than enough to make some memories I’ll cherish for a life time.

Really enjoyed our ride up the funicular to the top. We then used the restroom on the top, had a quick meal, took a few photos, and then begun our descent. We walked as far as we could on the day down before getting tired and joining a funicular stop down. Along the way there were a few homes that opened as mini stop areas for food. No ticks no bugs, really great to be at a high altitude. Plenty of cows and bells welcoming you along the way.

We took a ferry from Luzern (just outside of Luzern train station) and after one hour got off at Vitznau. The mountain railway is just outside the station, and with 30 min it took us to the top of Rigi. After 40 min walk we reached Rigi Kaltabad, from where we took a cable and with 5 min we were down to Weggis, another 15 min walk we got to the ferry station and boarded the ferry back to Luzern. All is covered by Swiss Travel Pass. The view alongside the journey is splendid.

Incredible views on the the way to the top from Lucerne. Great for a day trip you will enjoy the views without a doubt.

Really nice view!!! I love it! But be careful if you go too late like me and decide to go down with a cable car 🚠 it cost 30€ UNBELIEVABLE

Just a lovely cafeteria style restaurant. Wonderful views from the deck. Good variety of made from scratch meals. Pasta dishes, sausage dishes, very nice beer and wine selections. I didn't have any but the desserts looked good. Tourists from all over the world make it an even better experience.

If you came to Switzerland in the winter and were expecting lots of snow but were disappointed, then you might want to try heading here. It's high enough that you'll likely see plenty of snow but low enough that you can still see views of the surrounding areas, particularly of Lake Luzern and not be affected by the altitude or endure bone chilling cold. The train ride is a little over half an hour from Vitznau and connects right from when the boat arrives.

Set your overall expectation low as this place is packed with tourists. After taking the cogwheel train to the summit, there were two restaurants. One is more cafe style while the other is slightly fancier. Nice view with outdoor seating but food wasn't impressive. Oh they were expensive too but hey it's Switzerland!! Glad there were some hot beverages and soup.

Foods okay. Like fairly nice cafeteria food and would have been 2 stars. The view though is spectacular and you can grab a couple libations hence the 3 stars.
