My mom and I had a great stay here at the Riga Royal Gran Hotel here in Naha, Okinawa. This was our last minute side trip on our trip to Tokyo, Japan. Our JTB agent booked this hotel for us in the last minute. I can imagine why I haven't seen too many reviews on this place as this hotel seems to cater mostly to Japanese clientele, and haven't seen too many Foreign customers here, save for the random American spouse or military personnel. The service at this hotel however is top notch and probably is on the the same level as the Hyatt or Hilton. Getting there from the Naha airport is a bit of a challenge though because of some construction in the area and their driveway is a bit hidden. It's also odd that you need to take a set of elevators to reach their main lobby and check in area on the 14th floor! (The only WTF moment we had.) Once checked in, you would need to take another set of elevators to your room on the lower floors. The room we received however was very nice, clean and luxurious. Nice beds, high end bathroom with the famous Japanese toilet w/ bidet seat, and even a mini bar. Of course there is free WIFI and a nice Panasonic flat screen TV to help you stay in touch. You initially get free breakfast coupons ( and coupons for other places to dine in the neighborhood ) on your first stay here. Their breakfast buffet begins at 7am till 10:30am in their lobby lounge called the Aiju. The Aiju becomes a very high end restaurant and bar at night so if you can afford the Yen, please keep that in mind. Otherwise there are more affordable restaurants nearby via the monorail to Kokusai Street or even the Lawson Convenience store downstairs which offers very good food and drink that you can grab and go or sit to eat in their cafe nook they have available. Overall this SF Bay Area boy was quite impressed with my stay here at the Riga Gran. If you can speak a bit of the Japanese language and feel adventurous, this is the place to stay. :)
