Dined here while visiting Zürich this winter and enjoyed the meal very much. You dine inside an old horse stable, adding a veneer of history to the place. You sit at long tables -- which we didn't really mind at all, as there was plenty of room for comfort -- and running along the walls of both sides of the interior are old water and food troughs (emptied, of course), adding to the ambiance.
It was only fitting that I order the Pferdefilet (horse filet), which was glazed with a light pepper sauce and sat next to vegetables and, of course, a side of frites. Having been the first time ordering horse, I tried it medium rare and the piece tasted nearly identical to NY strip -- albeit a tad chewier.
Service was terrific as well. We didn't feel the slightest resentment at speaking English (they do have an English menu, for those who don't speak German), and delivery of food and drinks was prompt. If you're visiting Zürich, be sure to stop by this place for lunch or dinner.
