Rim Nordic XC Ski Area & Mountain Bike Park

Super friendly staff! Nice way to spend the afternoon. We did the snow shoes (I'm preggo and needed a snow adventure that was safer than snow boarding!) and enjoyed hiking around. Hardly ran into anyone on the trails (Super Bowl Sunday) which was nice, both due to covid and so we could get away from the crowds. It's not deep in the wilderness or anything but it was just nice for a little getaway. Next time I want to try the cross country skis!

Had a wonderful Easter day at Rim Nordic. Snow was great despite surprisingly warm temps for springtime. Highly recommend a visit to this gem in our local SoCal mountains!

I came up to ride with he Exploration trail, but unfortunately the trail was closed due to a recent fire. Rim Nordic was only a few miles up the road do we decided to give it a try. Mostly XC type trails, but still a lot of fun. Most trails provide a lot of shade, from plenty of tree coverage. Very relaxing to smell the pine on the trails. There are a few trails that are rated black, but they are more blue than black. Trail system is especially suited for e-bike, and we rode over 25 miles which was most of what was there to offer. The owner's are very friendly and the woman who runs the counter an excellent briefing of the trails for a "newbie" like myself.

A friend and I spent the morning here to learn to xc ski. It was a great experiance. We arrived at 9:15am, parked easily, and made our way to the rental house. We rented skies and waterproof pants. Our instructor Sarah was amazing. The beginner track was well groomed and gave us a good overview of all the basic skills; uphill, turns, downhill. What a great way to spend the day!

Great for hiking and walking when there is no snow

Small place with about 9 miles of skiing trails, but very warm and friendly services. The parking lot is kind of small, but it rarely fills up.

We finally made it up at the end of the season. The trails were perfectly manicured. The staff was very friendly and attentive to us first timers. We did the beginner trail and the boys enjoyed the scenery and they made a customer for life.

My happy place! It's nice, you can rent everything there. You can take some classes with an instructor on weekends and sometimes weekdays, which we did & John, the instructor, was very helpful. There's a few trails for different skills levels. Bev & Kerry are very professional and kind. We even got some winter merchandise there with their logo. Can't wait for the snow season to start again so we can come back.

Love supporting local, and Rim Nordic is more than deserving of that support. Great spot for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. We recently purchased our two pairs of snowshoes from Bev at Rim Nordic, who is very knowledgeable and helpful. Their prices are on par with online, so why not support local business? We can't wait to be back after the next snow storm for a snowshoeing adventure!

Last weekend was an amazing snow day. We opted for snowshoeing at Rim Nordic. We hiked up their hills and enjoyed scenic overlooks. The staff were genuinely helpful and informative. We had so much fun, that we purchased snowshoes from their store. Rim Nordic also opens in the summer for mountain biking... I will be back for that!!!

We decided to try Nordic Skiing last Saturday and headed up to Rim Nordic. From the first person we contacted to the moment we left we had a great time, very friendly and helpful at every step. Renting skis and boots was quick and easy. We spent the first half hour on skis flailing around a bit but after a few slow falls and lots of laughs we figured it out, (with some tips from the ground crew). After an hour or so we were moving right along the trail and could manage the easy trails pretty well. We stopped for a break and a cup of coffee and decide that we liked it so much we bought two sets of skis. Looking forward to going back again after the next snow. Dave And Kay.

Pulled into the parking lot the Friday before Labor Day on the way to Big Bear with the intention of inquiring about riding there on the way home on Monday and to let my dogs pee. Before I could get the words out of my mouth, I was greeted with a sour look and "dogs aren't allowed on our trails." (The dogs were leashed and NOT on the trails). Although we had NO intention of taking them on the trails, I did NOT know we would be unwelcome in even the parking lot and run out on a rail. This woman could not wait to get rid of us and suggested we drive down the hill to a pullout on the side of the road to let them relieve themselves. (Apparently assuming we were heading the opposite direction.) I guess I was naive in expecting a friendly greeting from my past patronage there as a racer and a volunteer for a women's mountain biking group. Since I was apparently not recognized as a "mountain biker," (even though we had 4 bikes on the back of my truck), we were basically told to take a hike. It was really embarrassing because I'd been telling my friend how great and friendly the staff there was. Oops, she sure made a liar out of me! This unpleasant experience was enough for me to say "I'll never darken the doorway of Rim Nordic again." If you go, better make sure you look like a biker and have your wallet open. And leave your dogs at home.

Great place to do some XC skiing and snowshoeing! Friendly and welcoming service. I came on a weekday so there weren't any lessons happening (only on the weekend) but the staff showed me how to clip in my feet and pointed me towards the easy trail. I spent an hour out on the trail because it was warm it that day and the snow was melting fast but I still had a great first time! $33 got me ski and pole rental and a trail pass.

On a little bit of a whim, a friend and I decided to run the gauntlet of holiday crowds to try cross country skiing. When the Los Angeles Times ran an item on Rim Nordic, I thought, "Destiny, here we come." Rim Nordic is a small, wonderful place. It's run by people who are warmly welcoming, as well as astonishingly helpful to the ski-impaired. John, our instructor, was patient and had a zen-like calm. If you've never inserted a foot into a ski boot in your life, I absolutely suggest taking the class. It's only an hour, but you need all those tips and strategies to enjoy your time on the trails. There's not a lot in the main store/cabin, just some packaged snacks. Pack a lunch. (I'm not complaining about this either, because I love small places that aren't overrun by people trying to buy a slice of pizza). The class, the all-day trail pass, and the rental package (skis/poles/boots) is a bargain at $45.00. All day fun away from the city and the strip malls. Beautiful.

I had a great experience today! The men in the parking lot were great greeters and Dianelee, John and Bev were nothing less than the perfect hosts. They knew I was a novice and got me set up for a fun few hours of cross country skiing at 6000 feet. The course had some challenges which were good and there were times that I thought I was watching Saturday morning cartoons I will be back with family and friends.

Really disappointed in an experience we just had here. We have been so excited to take our son cross-country skiing after a good experience in Michigan. Instead of a good time, we were met with judgement and aggression instead of compassion or understanding. Our son, frustrated from falling a lot, ran off off the trail and we had a hard time getting him under control. It happens; he is five and having some challenges with frustration tolerance. I had no problem with them laying out the ground rules - in fact I was grateful for my son to hear that he needed to get back on the trail. I draw the line however when you angrily tell me "You should grab him instead of reasoning with him." That may work for a lot of children but not mine! We have to get him calm first before picking him up or else he will get even more out of control and physical. So I called that guy out and to his credit, he apologized. Thank you for that, sir! We all make mistakes. But then another employee who we hadn't even interacted with had to jump in and ask why he had run away in the first place. How it was unsafe. NO ONE was even talking to this woman? She claimed to be "just curious" but it was judgment pure and simple from apparently the best mother ever?? I guess in addition to being skiing experts, they also consider themselves parenting experts?!? Who knew! Anyway, the only reason I'm giving this two stars is bc the red headed lady was very nice as well as another gentleman. Do better, Rim Nordic, by working stressed out parents who picked your place above a lot of other choices in town.

Took the family here for XC Ski lessons. Although it was busier than usual because it was the weekend after New Years, the trails didn't seem crowded at all. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The rental equipment was in excellent shape, and they even had the necessary size 14 boots for my son and I. Since there was a family with small children there for lessons as well, Bev decided to take the family separately so the small children wouldn't slow the rest of us down. Christine gave us our lesson. She has been a ski instructor for many years, and really gave us a good start in the sport. They also sell new and used equipment. Since I enjoyed it so much I decided to buy my own skis, and they gave me a better price on a package deal than I would have found anywhere (and I do mean a really good deal!). This is a great place for a family winter outing that will give you a workout too!

Love love love this place for trail running! One of my favorite places in the area. Lots of beautiful single track and changing scenery/terrain. I've done snow shoeing here also and it's perfect for that.

Wow so glad we found this place. First time XC Skiing experience was great. The equipment we rented was perfect, the trails were well groomed, quiet and scenic. The staff were so great. They were helpful, fun and genuinely interested in their customers fun too. I will definitely try XC skiing again based on my experience here.

My wife and I went to Rim Nordic the day after Christmas. It was snowing so traffic was a a drag and we arrived after the lesson we were planning for. No worries. Since it was a slow day Bev Brown took us outside and gave us some pointers. This after she got us fixed-up with good, well-fitting boots, snow pants and nice skis. The trails are beautiful. The air is clean. It's easy to lose yourself doing such a great thing in such a lovely place. This is a great alternative to downhills and the grommets on snowboards. Highly recommended!

Great spot to mountain bike! Hills to climb and fun trails to ride down!
