Rimowa's Latest Creation: A First-of-Its-Kind Bike Case with BMX Athlete Nigel Sylvester

"Nigel Sylvester, a professional BMX athlete, collaborated with Rimowa to create a unique bike case designed for ease of traveling with his BMX bike. This collaboration was inspired by Sylvester's need for a more efficient and visually appealing travel solution for his bike, compared to the repurposed golf bags he previously used."

The person who assisted us in the store was very friendly. They explained each product one by one and informed us about both the warranty conditions and what we need to do for maintenance. We were also very pleased that they offered us water. If I make another purchase, I will definitely choose the same store in Munich again. Thank you very much once again.

We had an excellent experience at the Rimowa store in Munich. The location is beautiful and easy to access, and the store has a great selection with plenty of inventory to choose from. A special thank-you to Paul, who provided truly exceptional service. He was patient, efficient, and incredibly knowledgeable. He took the time to answer all our questions and helped me find exactly what I needed without ever making me feel rushed. His professionalism and friendly attitude made the entire shopping experience enjoyable. Highly recommend this store — and especially Paul — for anyone looking for top-tier service and premium products.

This review is not about the store or its staff. I have been a loyal Rimowa customer for over 15 years and have long appreciated the quality and durability of their suitcases. Unfortunately, my recent experience has been extremely disappointing. In September 2023, I purchased a suitcase from Rimowa’s Essential line, which appears to have replaced the Salsa line I previously trusted. Despite very limited use, this suitcase has suffered multiple material failures. After just three trips, the inner lining tore. Getting this addressed was a frustrating process: I had to repeatedly push customer service to acknowledge the issue, then fight again for them to provide a shipping box and cover the shipping costs. From my initial email requesting a repair to finally receiving confirmation that they would fix it and pay for shipping, six weeks passed, with constant back-and-forth. Fast forward to today—I’ve just returned from another trip, and this would have been only the seventh or eighth time I’ve used the suitcase since purchasing it. I discovered a 2–3 inch crack near one of the wheels. I used to recommend Rimowa enthusiastically to friends and family. In fact, the very first Rimowa suitcase I bought 15 years ago only recently developed its first crack. I did not expect indestructibility from this purchase, but for a product that is positioned and priced as premium, it is reasonable to expect it not to experience repeated material failures so early in its life. Taken together, these issues suggest a broader decline in quality rather than isolated incidents. Prices have risen while quality appears to have dropped, and I simply cannot put myself through dealing with Rimowa’s service process again. That is why I’m sharing my experience here.

2026 — and apparently service here is still based on appearances. I was made to stand outside in line. A couple walked up after me, told the staff member at the door they had a small repair issue, and were immediately let inside. When I said I had the same issue, I was ignored. When I calmly asked why they were allowed in ahead of me, the staff member in charge of the door pretended the interaction hadn’t happened. This was not a misunderstanding. It was deliberate and dismissive. I’ve had RIMOWA warranty service in New York, Tokyo, and Paris, and it has consistently been professional and fair. The contrast with this Munich location is striking — and damaging to the brand. A premium product is defined by its service, and service begins at the door. That standard was not met here. Please don’t respond with a templated apology. The opportunity to do the right thing already passed in person. (Visit: January 3, 2026)

Extremely pleased with staff's approach. Young lady was very helpful, and although I do not know her name, I'm recommending her as your agent. She guided me through the store, explained the usage of some products and helped me make the right purchase. The purchase went smooth but there was unfortunately a problem in the Account Registration system (not their fault!) so it took a bit longer. The interior is well-organized and clean. They offered me a cup of water or cola as well. Overall I am very satisfied with the purchase and experience and am definitely recommending this store to others.

I went to buy suitcases on 4/25. There was a Moroccan male employee who was very friendly and the service was cordial (sorry I forgot his name). Great shopping experience.

Super fast service and Lucas at service counter is a mind reader, knowing what I need before I speak. Friendly staff throughout the shop that makes everyone feel welcome. And he is the first German to speak my name correctly.

Discriminatory and unacceptable service. A staff member at this Rimowa location deliberately treated us differently because we are Asian and could not speak her language fluently. She purposely left us standing outside in the cold while allowing customers in front of us to go inside first. When we tried to ask simple questions, she refused to answer and ignored us completely. Her behavior was rude, dismissive, and felt blatantly discriminatory. This is completely unacceptable for an international luxury brand. Language barriers should never be met with disrespect. Rimowa seriously needs to address this staff behavior and improve training.

Yelp
For my first review for 2025, I have to reflect back on my experience at this Rimowa in Munchen. The service was just as excellent as our experience in Madrid (please feel free to read that review). After spending a lot of time in Old Town and visiting the main attractions such as Glockenspiel, St. Peter, and eating pastries and meals in this area - we were drawn to this Rimowa on their famous street - Dienerstrabe. Salman was very attentive in showing us models and we were able to pick up our selection after walking around some more and eating and site-seeing. The luggage was kinda heavy after walking about eight (8) blocks (about 1.5 miles) back to the hotel. A few more thoughts, the gold initialing of the name tag is behind the scenes though (unlike in Madrid - they do it in front of you), so that wasn't as exciting. Salman did not understand Tagalog but spoke English, and that was helpful. There was a Filipina employee there and she was our Plan B if there was a language barrier but thankfully, there wasn't any. :) I've contemplated going aluminum but there are weight restrictions when flying to Asia so I opted for polycarbonate once more. I guess, if you're going with United, carry-on weight doesn't matter. But it does matter on PAL and EVA, so lighter is better, because they'll charge extra. Make sure to submit the tax information at the airport so that you can save on part of your taxes (Global Blue). It can be a pain in the arse but it's still worth jumping through all the hoops.
