"The charm is simple—and highly photogenic—at this 1947 property, where old western actors like Roy Rogers used to get away between takes. When new owners bought the ranch in 2016, they began renovating bit by bit, outfitting the rooms with vintage-inspired Smeg refrigerators, turntables, Coleman lanterns, and Pendleton wool blankets. The accommodations vary wildly, ranging from four original knotty pine–paneled cabins to midcentury-modern rooms in the lodge to a glass-and–corrugated metal duplex called the Hatch House, which Lloyd Russell designed in 2008. There’s even an option to stay in a remodeled 1960s Airstream, which features a live-edge wood bar with copper inlays. True to its original intent, the 11-acre ranch is laid-back and without pretense, the kind of retreat where hikes in neighboring Joshua Tree National Park stand in for a spa day, and guests make their own meals in the antique kitchens and at the outdoor grills. The real magic happens at sunset on the observation deck, and is best enjoyed with a BYO cocktail."

Rim Rock was perfect. It was everything and more and beyond my wildest dreams. Gwen and her team did an amazing job, she helped with every detail (big or small). I was beyond impressed by their kindness and passion in the work. I will recommend anyone holding their wedding at this beautiful space. The space has so much character, furniture that was perfect for our event. I truly am so happy and pleased. Thank you Gwen and team! 🥰

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue for our wedding. We had scoured the hi-desert and almost thought that the perfect venue didn't exist... until we toured Rimrock Ranch. The location is absolutely stunning, with Joshua trees scattered across the landscape, rocky mountains in the distance, and beautiful western cabins surrounded by open desert. It made for the most breathtaking backdrop to our special day. The venue itself is simple yet elegant, and allowed us to easily personalize the space to fit our vision. The staff are exceptional and made us feel so valued throughout the entire process. They were incredibly friendly, always ready to help, and went out of their way to ensure everything ran smoothly. Their warmth and professionalism truly made a difference, and we felt supported every step of the way. Reno, Gwen, Eric, and all the staff are rockstars whose expertise in weddings really shined. Having our families and wedding party housed on-site was such a bonus, it made the wedding weekend an easy, fun, and camp-like experience. We stayed for three nights, and having that extra time to relax at Rimrock made the place feel like home—it will always hold a special place in our hearts. If you're looking for a wedding venue that is versatile, picturesque, and offers a warm, rustic vibe with amazing service, Rimrock Ranch is the place. Highly HIGHLY recommend!

Google
A seriously perfect venue for a MAGICAL wedding weekend. Gwen is absolutely incredible but was unable to be there for our wedding weekend. Reno was there all weekend helping us with WHATEVER we needed. All the staff were incredibly kind, helpful, professional, cool, fun, enthusiastic... I could go on! They are really there to make it the best stay possible and do just that. We have also stayed at Rimrock as guests and loved it. For a wedding weekend, it is wonderful to take over all of the cabins. The staff really make you feel at home. I will say, the cabins can feel a bit rustic! Design is A+ and super cool but if you are used to hotels, be prepared for some more dirt!!!! The Ranch itself is stunning. So many of our guests said it was the best wedding they had ever been to and RAVED about the venue! Because of the stunning scene - vivid stars, joshua trees sprinkled all over the mountains, etc, any additional decor is just extra! I would truly recommend Rimrock Ranch to anyone considering having a wedding in the area.... it is truly extraordinary.

I had my wedding at Rim Rock ranch and it truly was the perfect day. Gwen and Reno went above and beyond to help make our day run as smoothly as possible. The setting felt like it was out of a movie, this location makes for a fantastic wedding venue. Reno was there to help facilitate the day of the wedding and she was truly one of the kindest people we have ever met. I felt like I could truly enjoy my day because she was there to help. I truly could not recommend this venue enough!

Gwen + Eric + Reno and the whole Rimrock team made our wedding weekend everything we imagined and more! Gwen was helpful in making sure everything was good to go & helped us plan everything even though we live on the east coast. Gwen is the sweetest person to talk to and she really goes above and beyond. Rimrock is a beautiful venue that made for the perfect wedding, we wouldn't have changed a thing!

We are local wedding photographers and this is one of our very favorite venues to work at in the desert. The whole property is breathtaking, filled with Joshua Trees, modern buildings with a southwest vibe, and sprawling desert to explore and photograph in. The staff is incredible to work with and getting married here allows your guests to have a whole weekend experience since you can stay on site. Highly recommend and can't wait to document more celebrations here again soon.

Great cabins, great property and great owners. Can't wait to go back. There are so many cool areas to sit and relax. It's also a 7 minute drive to Pappy & Harriet's. Stars at night are amazing.

Yelp
Gwen and Eric hosted us on their gorgeous Rimrock Ranch for our October wedding. They seamlessly met any challenges for us, and brought a fun and vibrant energy to the event. We're so grateful to them and their team for all they did to support us. Host your wedding or event here and you will not regret it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

A PERFECT Venue and a MOST Magical Wedding!! We had always wanted to have a ranch style wedding and Gwen and Eric have created the most memorable location and atmosphere to host our wedding. Our guests were blown away and we will ALWAY remember our weekend celebrations.

Yelp
Where do we even begin?! TRULY MAGICAL EXPERIENCE My wife & I got married at Rimrock Ranch on Saturday, June 10th, 2023. We arrived on site Thursday, June 8th in the evening & began the circus of preparing for our wedding. We had the entire property for the next couple of days. Family & friends staying in all of the cabins & lodge bedrooms. We really took over! We're loud. I'm sure the people in Yucca Valley heard us. Gwen & Reno are absolute ROCKSTARS. From the moment we arrived they were by our side helping us with absolutely anything & everything. Not only that, but they were imperative in the planning process answering every email, text, & phone call with kindness & patience. They prepped the space for our rehearsal dinner. They finagled all of the bells & whistles like ICE, CUPS, etc. They even got a Bluetooth speaker set up to play music. ABOVE & BEYOND. They were literal SUPERSTARS on the day of. Prepping the ceremony space. Answering every question. Providing cups after we forgot to rent glassware. Coordinating where deliveries & drop offs land. Just absolutely everything. There wasn't ONE single issue. IMPRESSIVE. KIND PEOPLE CARING PEOPLE GOOD PEOPLE A DREAM COME TRUE WEDDING VENUE Book Rimrock. Do it. You won't regret it! WATCH OUT FOR RATTLE SNAKES LOL

Yelp
Perfect Wedding at the Perfect Venue The high desert is a special place for us. It's a second home and it's where we truly fell in love. So it was a no-brainer to have our wedding there. Rimrock Ranch was the first venue we toured and we knew right away that it was the right place for us. The grounds and views are stunning, the cabins are charming, and the staff is like family. Gwen, Eric, Reno, and Team are incredibly kind, thoughtful, accommodating, and easy-going. They make you feel right at home and completely safe in their hands. They've done a bunch of these and it shows. They also have fantastic vendor recommendations. The bartenders, the caterers, and the audio set-up were all first-rate. We had the wedding of our dreams at Rimrock Ranch and could not recommend them more!

Yelp
Wowowow where to begin? If you're looking for a venue that provides both a scenic ceremony and/or reception spot, PLUS a weekend retreat this is possibly the best find in the greater Joshua Tree area. We stayed Friday and Saturday night at the venue with our closest friends which was a one-of-a-kind experience by itself, and the rest of our guests were completely blown away by the mountain views and beautiful desert landscape of Joshua trees and blooming spring cactuses scattered around the property. This picturesque oasis must be seen to be believed, and there is no doubt in my mind that our wedding photos are going to turn out immaculate. Onto the staff: Gwen and Reno were rockstars from day one. We knew they were our kind of people from our first phone call and that was reconfirmed every time we spoke to them. Despite the fact that Gwen was dealing with an injury at the time of our wedding, she was more hands on that we could've hoped for. It rained (and snowed!!) on the day of our spring wedding (we also got a cool rainbow out of it) and Gwen was there to help us make a game time decision about where our ceremony would be held on the property. We decided about a week before the day that because of the rain we'd need to move our reception to another venue indoors and Gwen was with us every step of the way offering us guidance and making sure it was a seamless transition and still incredibly beautiful. Because of both the venue and the staff, our wedding was the exact vision we hoped it would be, weather curveballs and all.

Yelp
Rimrock Ranch is truly the most magical place in Pioneertown! No matter what the weather is, it is so beautiful and has a such a relaxing vibe and feel. We hosted our wedding here and it was so all time. Not only was the venue absolutely beautiful, Our guests loved everything about this place. Gwen, Eric, and there team were so accommodating, so cool, and great peeps. We will always be visiting this place to reminisce the best day of my life and I life. Love Rim Rock!

Yelp
Underwhelming. I don't care how many Edison bulbs you string throughout the Spahn-like ranch, it doesn't disguise the fact that the cabins you stay in are subpar. While the rooms may look homey, there is no privacy whatsoever with the threadbare curtains that barely cover the windows or the thin walls between cabins. When the person in the next unit is having a normal conversation, it sounds like they are in the same room with you. And adding to this misery is the sound of the jet engine that passes for a heater/ac unit, which is conveniently placed 3 feet above the head of the bed. This does help to drown out the conversation next door but it makes for lousy sleep. I can only vouch for Cabin 3 but I have no intention of exploring the others to find out if they have the same issues.

Yelp
Phenomenal venue for a weekend wedding or convention. The staff and owner, Gwen, are exceptional and provides wonderful customer service. A special shout out to Reno, and the others, who remembers to smile and made our weekend extra special.

Yelp
We wanted a remote, relaxing, inviting and beautiful space - while supporting a small business - our first trip in over a year due to the global pandemic and we found everything we dreamed of at Rimrock Ranch. While I can definitely see why it is an amazing wedding venue, we can also say it is a perfect retreat from city life for friends and family alike. Whether you're traveling alone, looking for a quiet time with your immediate family, or if you want to make a gathering with multiple households or couples staying in the wide variety of available spaces, Rimrock Ranch has what you desire. The kitchen was stocked with dishes and silverware, the accommodations comfortable, and the grounds equally enjoyable for kids and adults to explore. The lookout tower was a huge hit, as well as the older vehicles and the eclectic art. Gwen and Eric were amazing and accommodating hosts, always around as they live on-site but were never intrusive. Access is easy - quality roads, good signage, plenty of parking, and easily found on modern mapping applications. Internet was reliable and visiting Pioneertown, Joshua Tree National Park and the entire area couldn't have been easier. Highly recommend Rimrock Ranch for your next getaway - to quote a text from my partner, "I can say this is one of the best trips I've had" - great for kids and adults alike. Choose Rimrock Ranch - you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
This was a perfect spot for my team and I while we were working on a production in the area. It was very well appointed and always nice to come back after a long day onsite. I look forward to returning and enjoying more time at Rimrock. Gwen and the entire team were always there to check in to see if we needed anything. 5 stars!

Yelp
We love Rimrock Ranch! Have stayed here for romantic weekends several times the past few years and even got engaged here! The property has a 1940s (?) era cowboy dude ranch vibe with a half dozen period cabins that are beautifully preserved and kept up well with cool amenities, Pendleton blankets, and small kitchens in each cabin with appliances made to look period era (some rooms have small private patios w fire pits if I recall). Lots of areas to roam around and take pictures, it seems all other guests are also super chill / friendly and the owners Eric & Gwen are a delight to chat up and ask about the property. Please keep in mind that this NOT a resort - there really aren't any fancy resorts in JT/Pioneertown at all. You come to the high desert for a chill outdoorsy vibe. There's also no food served/restaurant on the property - so just know what you're getting into, advisable for EVERY lodging in the area... hit the grocery store and use your cabin kitchens and BBQs on the grounds or drive 5 minutes to great restaurants/bars. But staying at Rimrock Ranch is meant to be/feel like a true escape

Yelp
We really don't have enough good things to say about Rimrock Ranch, where we hosted our wedding at the end of August 2017. Our wedding was about 125 people, which was an ideal size for the property. We were able to take the property over for the weekend, including the surrounding area (Pioneertown / Joshua Tree) with the Pioneertown Hotel, innumerable Airbnbs, and Pappy & Harriet's Pioneertown Palace as the after party! It really felt like we owned that corner of the desert for the happiest weekend of our lives. The space itself is thoughtfully curated in a midcentury modern desert aesthetic that lends itself very well to artful, colorful events, which was our vision for our Bollywood meets vintage Americana wedding. Further, the stargazing from Rimrock Ranch is absolutely breathtaking and unlike anything many had ever seen - even our photographers spent hours capturing it for themselves. While all of our guests expected something cool, everyone was genuinely awestruck by the venue, landscape, & region. Finally, we can't emphasize what a dream Gwen & Eric were to work with. Not only were they extremely accommodating to us and our family & friends staying on property, but they were willing to lend a hand & expertise throughout the planning process. From our first site visit until the end of the event, they were always helpful and flexible with all of our crazy ideas and requests! We wholeheartedly recommend Rimrock Ranch! You can find our short wedding video here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usB1xUY2dF4&t=7s - which shows off the property really well!

Yelp
Rimrock Ranch is an amazing venue to get married at. My husband and I wanted a wedding venue that fit our style. We spend a lot of time out in Joshua Tree area and we wanted a venue that was laid-back, beautiful, and could house our family and closest friends on-site. We looked at 7 venues and Rimrock Ranch was a dream come true! We knew immediately that it was the venue for us. The owners, Gwen and Eric, are so helpful and really got the laid-back, outdoors vibe we were going for. Our wedding guests loved them. Having the whole weekend with our friends and family was really special to us. Our wedding list was mostly out of town guests and being able to spend the whole weekend with them, not just 12 hours was unbelievably special. They have a great list of vendors that we booked for the event too and that helped me be way less stressed about planning to already have those resources. It was such a magical place! We love Gwen/Eric's dogs and we got to bring our dog, Pancake who was a part of the wedding ceremony. When all was said and done, our guests said it was the best wedding they had ever been to. Mostly due to the venue location, beauty, and relaxed nature. It really exceeded our expectations. I could not have asked for a more perfect venue, more perfect hosts, or more perfect day. We look forward to coming back for many years to celebrate!

Yelp
I now have experience with Rimrock Ranch as both a hotel and an event space, and it was pure magic both times. My husband and I actually picked out the venue for our wedding without ever making a formal visit, we are familiar with the area and upon driving past Rimrock could tell it was the place for us. The staff and owners are all so kind, professional, thoughtful and accommodating. I think that the photos of the space do it a good amount of justice, but the magic, coziness, and peaceful energy are truly something to be experienced in person. We cannot wait to come back!

Yelp
In November I was fortunate enough to get married in this magical place. It was around April when I first met Gwen after they (Gwen & Eric - and Ellie May) had just become the new owners of the ranch. I was unhappy with the wedding that was coming together in LA so I ditched it all and headed for the desert. The instant I drove into Rimrock Ranch I knew it was where I wanted to get married. The desert air, the Joshua trees and cacti, and all the bunnies! Gwen and Eric were so awesome and accommodating every step of the way, going above and beyond their role as hosts. Leading up to the wedding I stayed at Rimrock I believe 3 more times as I just enjoyed being there. Staring at the desert night sky from the observation deck or sipping wine in the splash pool (obviously when the weather is right - when the air is the same temp as the water it's the weirdest and most awesome sensation). The grounds have that funky and unique to J Tree vibe while the cabins and lodge reminisce of the days back when Pioneertown was host to the Hollywood westerns with Roy Rogers and John Wayne. The Hatch House is a modern and super cool structure that was constructed after the original main house burned down many years ago. This is not an Air BnB, and it's not a hotel. You feel like you're part of a unique and friendly desert hideaway; sitting around the fire pit or hiking out into the expansive land beyond the ranch. If you're considering RR as a wedding venue, this is truly a unique spot with a lot of heart and soul. Great vibes and good people. I designed and planned our entire wedding and Gwen, Eric, and their friends helped make it happen. I seriously can't thank them enough. I'm also SO excited to see the upgrades and changes they've made since I was last there! Custom built beds, new linens and decor, and lots more surprises! You can peek at some of the action on their Instagram account. Aside from being a great venue, it's also super close to Pappy & Harriet's (where we had our rehearsal dinner) and the must-try La Copine (where we had our post-wedding brunch). If you're a climber/hike/camper/nature enthusiast, it's only a short distance to Joshua Tree National Park and downtown J Tree which has some great spots to eat, shop, and a farmer's market on the weekend. If you like to off-road, there are plenty of fun trails in the area. You can take a bumpy drive to Giant Rock after having a sound bath at the Integratron and visiting the Orchid Farm for a tour (then stop in for a beer at Landers Brew Co.). I'll be back again and again.

Yelp
We had our wedding here this past October (2019) and it was absolutely perfect. We visited the previous August (2018) while we were venue shopping, and we fell in love with Rimrock Ranch as soon as we saw it. Luckily, our preferred weekend was still available, so we booked it that day! Gwen was great to work with. Everything is clear from the very beginning including costs, what's provided and what you have to bring in, the rules of the property, etc. She also provides an extensive list of local vendors that they have worked with before, which is super helpful if you are not from the Joshua Tree/Yucca Valley area, like us. She was always quick to answer our questions and even went above and beyond helping us out with little things here and there on the day before and day of our wedding. The venue itself is just stunning. It was perfect for our style. We wanted a laid-back celebration where our family and friends could enjoy each other's company as well as the beautiful desert scenery. The ranch is so beautiful on its own, you barely have to decorate at all. It feels rustic, but still has all the comforts that you and your guests want. There was plenty of room for all of our guests (about 130) to party and have fun, and those that stayed on the property were comfortable and loved the cabins and lodge. We are STILL hearing from friends and family about how absolutely beautiful the wedding was and how much they loved the desert! We were able to use the property for the entire weekend Friday afternoon - Sunday mid-morning, so we were able to have the relaxed and fun celebration we were hoping for. Overall, our wedding could not have been more perfect, or more aligned with our vision, and Rimrock Ranch was the perfect place for us. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone!

Yelp
I'm super overdue in writing this review of Rimrock Ranch, which was our wedding venue in March 2018. In short, it was perfect. I echo other reviewers in saying this venue is ideal for a small/mid-size wedding and I'd reserve it over again 100%. The scenery is gorgeous, the cabins are so cool and have everything you could possibly need and more, and you and your guests will have the most stunning photos! I'll never forget the way it felt to look around on my wedding day and see everyone I loved in one amazing place, many of them experiencing the unique beauty of the desert for the first time. I'm sure lots of brides have similar cherished memories, but I think there's something special about Rimrock Ranch. If you've been there, you'll know what I mean! I have absolutely nothing but glowing things to say about the pristine property, Gwen and Eric, and of course their adorable doggies :) They were so generous and flexible through everything, from the moment we contacted them to express interest in reserving the property for our wedding all the way through planning and getting married! Since we were planning our wedding from the east coast, it was so great that Gwen and Eric had a list of vendors, photographers, and advice already lined up for anyone planning their wedding there. Clearly they do a lot of weddings here, and they're truly ready for anything that might come up--when it was really sunny, they literally pulled out a bunch of parasols so that my older relatives and aunt with MS could be comfortable at our rehearsal dinner. When we couldn't find a light switch to turn off some external lights as we were heading to bed, I texted Gwen and she did it for us from her phone. Just two examples of their kindness of many throughout the weekend! I'll mention that there are (obviously) rules to make sure the property and desert aren't harmed during your stay, but they're all totally reasonable and didn't get in the way of our weekend whatsoever. At every juncture, Gwen and Eric went above and beyond to make sure that our guests were happy and comfortable. We were getting married on a smaller budget, so we partially chose Rimrock Ranch because it was gorgeous enough on its own that we didn't need to buy/rent many extra things for the day. You'll see lots of photos of this place totally done up for weddings--and it looks so amazing in any form--but honestly, we were so excited to have our wedding in a natural, untouched setting, and it still felt and looked perfect. If you're in a similar situation, I can't recommend this spot enough. Many of our guests have told us this was their favorite wedding they'd ever attended. I don't think they were just saying it, either! This place is totally unique and gave me, my family and friends an experience we'll cherish forever. We're already planning on returning for reunions and birthdays at the lodge, which is probably my favorite part of the property. I've got my fingers crossed that I get to attend a wedding here one day! :)

Yelp
We had our wedding at Rimrock Ranch 2 months ago. It was such a special experience. The ranch is full of that classic Joshua Tree landscape, the rooms were beautifully decorated and Gwen was so wonderful through out the entire process. It truly was the most perfect day. Even now, we are still getting tons of compliments on the venue. Our guests all loved it and many of say it was the best venue they've ever been to.

Yelp
Best venue ever! I shot a wedding at Rim Rock Ranch this past year and it was my favorite of the whole year (I know you are not supposed to have favorites but this one is by far mine). The scenery is a desert dream and the owners are the sweetest. Literally cannot wait until I get to shoot here again. If you are even thinking about this place book them its so worth it!

Yelp
Rimrock Ranch = MAGIC!!! I can't recommend Rimrock Ranch enough. The vibe and energy out there is truly special. My favorite weekend getaway from San Diego is a trip out to the high desert: Joshua Tree, La Copine, Pioneer Mountain Reserve, Pappy and Harriet's, The Integratron and of course staying at Rimrock Ranch. It's truly the perfect weekend. Rimrock is such a hip and funky place. I have stayed in two of the cabins and the lodge. Each one is comfortable, unique and funky. A lot of the furniture has been hand built by Eric. Gwen and Eric are cool, funny, and accommodating - the perfect hosts. It doesn't feel like you are staying at a hotel, it feels like you are staying at their home (well that's because you are)! The vibe and energy is really special. You have to feel it to know. Beautiful stars at night, the edge of the desert, dog friendly, a short trip to Pappys, fire side hangs, hikes...it's truly a magical place. You will not be disappointed. At all.

Yelp
We loved our stay at Rimrock Ranch. We will definitely be returning. Beautiful grounds to hang out during the day and evening. Gwen & Eric run an amazing venue and were so helpful in recommending food to eat and sites to see. Their dogs were just as friendly! Thanks, RR!

Yelp
If you are spending hours and hours researching venues for your upcoming wedding (as I did), look no further. We just got married at the end of June at this amazing venue, and all 100 of our guests thought it was absolutely magical. The RRR property itself is beautiful, and it eloquently highlights the majesty of the desert landscape surrounding its borders. You feel secluded out in the desert (not much cell service), but there is wifi, and this venue is searchable on Google maps! (None of our guests or vendors got lost... which could easily happen at another venue around the area.) Gwen and Eric truly care about making your special day perfect, and are always open to new ideas and set-ups. I felt that I could make this wedding my own, and it truly reflected me and my partner's personalities. Of course, there are a few rules of the desert regarding noise level (of course music travels here) and no open fires, but Gwen and Eric were very up front about these rules the entire time. It honestly could not have been better for us, and I am so happy to look back on these memories for a lifetime. Thanks, Rimrock Ranch!

Yelp
Rimrock Ranch was a dream venue for our wedding. The Joshua Tree setting is idyllic. To get married right next to a Joshua Tree is actually quite surreal! Being able to stay on property with your ~20 people inner circle created a very relaxed vibe like being on vacation. What really solidified the experience was working with the owners Gwen and Eric. We happened upon the Ranch shortly after Gwen & Eric purchased the ranch from the previous owner. I gravitated toward them because they both left their SF advertising careers to follow a dream. Their passion is evident in the restoration efforts that they embarked on since acquiring the property. Their professionalism is exceptional. Gwen's response time quite impressive as is her patience with the minutia of wedding details. Our guests are still raving about the wedding. "Best wedding ever" has been thrown around quite a few times. I was concerned that we might lose some people in the hour trip from Palm Springs but everyone embraced the journey and the beauty that awaited them upon arrival. I would not change a single thing about this experience. Thank you Gwen & Eric!

Yelp
At Milk Makeup for our first Influencer/Editor trip as a brand, we were looking to give guests and those following along on Instagram the most unique experience possible and we knew we wanted a venue that aligned with our Brand DNA as sustainability is a huge focus. Our event with Locale Retreats and Rimrock Ranch was our most successful launch to date. Rimrock Ranch provide one-of-a-kind experiences and unlimited photo opportunities that led to a incredible guest experience. The planning process leading up to the event was seamless. Gwen and her team were a pleasure to work with and ensured we had everything we needed and more, while ensuring an authentic - and environmentally responsible - Joshua Tree experience. We were able to build in programming, such as dinner under the stars at sunset, from a Milk Studios photoshoot setup in the desert, with ease. We left knowing that we respected this fragile, beautiful desert and its community. I would recommend Rimrock Ranch to anyone visiting or planning an event in Joshua Tree, truly!

Yelp
Rimrock Ranch is a gorgeous and one-of-a-kind venue to get married at. Both my wife and I went to weddings there that delighted the hell out of us with Rimrock's blend of striking natural beauty and western charm. And so it landed at the top of our wishlist when we decided to get married ourselves. From our previous experiences at there, we knew that Rimrock had beautiful views, impeccable fixtures and a very accommodating collection of cabins for our families to spend the weekend in. What we discovered from a year of planning a wedding there is that Rimrock's true ace in the hole is its keepers, Gwen and Eric. The two of them were a remedy for wedding-planning stress, making the entire experience personal and professional. They built a solid foundation of trust that our guests (and vendors!) would be in more-than-capable hands while everyone was on the ranch. Gwen and Eric are exactly the kind of people you would want to work with when you find a spot as delightful as Rimrock--chill, hard-working and visionary. When all was said and done, our guests experienced a setting unlike anywhere most of them had been before and we got to work with two of the best hosts you could ask for. We had no idea whether most decisions we made for the wedding would work out the way we hoped, but we had full confidence in Rimrock from the day we chose to get married there. It exceeded expectations.

Yelp
Last November, I was looking for a place to stay at near Joshua Tree. I had two requirements: First, that it can accommodate two couples comfortably, and second that it had a kitchen. It is hard to find places that have full kitchen amenities, so I was so glad to find Rimrock Ranch Cabins on yelp. We booked Cabin # 1 and paid for it through paypal. Jon was so helpful through email that it was a breeze making the reservation. They usually require a 3 night stay during holidays (we were booking for Thanksgiving weekend), but luckily Jon was kind enough to let us stay just for two. The directions were pretty easy to follow. We made sure to print out the email they sent us, because our GPS lost signal as soon as we hit the dirt road. This place is located in the middle of nowhere, and made for such a relaxing getaway. Our cabin was so nice and comfy. We had our own patio, our own kitchen, and the beds were nice too. Just being on the grounds of the place was surreal. They are also located so close to Pappy and Harriet's! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
I came here for a wedding in April and it was perfect, like something you'd see in one of those wedding design blogs. It was all outdoors and the setting was so charming, fun, and casual. There was a space for drinks (with an adjacent kitchen to keep things cold), a small dance floor area, picnic tables to eat, an area for the ceremony with folding chairs and rocks in a heart shape, and a fire pit area for when we got closer to the evening. There was a sound system set up where we could easily play music from an iPhone or iPod. There were about 60 guests, I think much more than that would have been tough to accommodate. Most of the guests were in their 20s, but people of all ages, from little kids to the grandparents, enjoyed themselves. It feels like you're away from everything, just brown grasslands and hills for miles. No interruptions or noise from other people. There were no other guests on the property. And the view of the stars when night fell was gorgeous. Aside from the wedding festivities, it was also just a fun place to hang out - some people went for a walk, others relaxed in the hammock and porch swing, and some took a lot of neat photos of the area. The temperature was warm but really nice. I think it would be tough to hold an event like this in the middle of summer because there's little shade. They did provide cute parasols for guests who wanted it. We didn't stay there, but several of our friends did and they seemed to really enjoy it. One even got to stay in an airstream trailer with purple velvet. It was also convenient for the wedding party to have a space to change clothes, take a nap, etc. I wasn't involved in the wedding planning, but I didn't notice any hiccups and the bride and groom didn't mention any problems or complaints. We all loved it so much, there was even talk of trying to make it an annual event to rent the space and for everyone to come hang out. They're also really close to Pappy and Harriet's, which was perfect for a big group of us to have a post-wedding brunch the next day.

Yelp
This is a review of Rimrock Ranch as a wedding venue. We got married here on 4/29/17 and it was great. Rimrock is obviously not your standard wedding venue, but for us it was perfect. Gwen and Eric are very kind, low-key, and were always available to us when we needed them. Everything was as we agreed upon, no surprises or complications. Basically exactly what you'd want and expect from a venue. Our guests had a great time and really enjoyed the unique setting and the opportunity to unplug for the weekend.

Yelp
LOVE Rimrock Ranch Cabins. The owner Jim has that eye for design using found objects and repurposing them into pieces of art! Jim has really put in a lot of time and the attention to detail will leave you in awe. He gave us a little tour of the place and I was smitten. The cabins here are also amazing. I have stayed in many places in the High Desert and hands down RimRock Ranch Cabins are the best. I fell in love with the observation deck and the airstreams on the property are sweet too. We had I think it was cabin #1 it was a double room with a kitchen. It was nice to wake up make some coffee and lazily lay around in this desert paradise. The views are amazing, surrounded by those beautiful boulders and mountains make this place the destination when you don't want to be in some busy and loud hotel. Our cabin was equipped and VERY clean. I am looking forward to returning again soon! I am now telling all of my friends and clients who want to visit the High Desert to skip all other places and stay here. There is even a POOL! NOTE: If you know of a date that you want to come PRE-BOOK ASAP they sell out fast. Also Pappy & Harriets is a short drive (less than 5 miles) from RRRC. Bring some groceries and fill up your fridge because there is no grocery stores close by other than down the hill which is not far but I like to be prepared and not waste time buying groceries and shopping around. FREE WI-FI!!!! AMAZING VIEWS!!!!!

Yelp
Peaceful and amazing. You really feel like your the only one out here. The sounds of birds and wind through the hills is all you hear and the stars and sunrise are worth it all. The owners are nice and so are their dogs and the air stream was fun. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Its a beautiful place in a beautiful place. Historic, charming, owned by a lovely couple who live on site. Awesome setting for weddings, get togethers, and famiky gatherings. Rent a cabin, a trailer or a dance floor and enjoy the stunning beauty of the desert.

Yelp
I'd give it negative stars ,if I could ! I am a neighbor who is tired of the loud music ,which for the ignorant ,carries quite a distance . Not that anyone who books there has any interest outside of their own ! Further ,helium balloons are a danger to wildlife ,as is the increased traffic ! And the cheap signs left behind,to become more trash in our desert ! Urbanites ,entitled persons ,go elsewhere ,or send me your address ,I'll bring similar experiences to your house !

Yelp
We had a beautiful wedding there this weekend. It is such a lovely venue to have a weekend affair with family and friends. Gwen and staff are super helpful in their recommendations.

Yelp
This place is really cute. Get a well appointed cabin to yourself for under $200. Enjoy the sounds of desert wildlife. See the stars. Try not to run over the desert wildlife while driving by moonlight. No, really, it's lovely. They took great care of us and will be the first place we look when considering places to stay when we're back out this way. It's a really beautiful little compound and very accessible while still feeling suitably remote once you're out there.

Yelp
I stayed in a cabin with my kids for a weekend and we all had a very relaxing time during our stay. The cabin was super comfortable and the little kitchen had everything we needed. The grounds are beautiful and spacious and the owners made us feel at home right away. We are going to go back soon!

Yelp
My team stayed here mid-week back in June after a drive through the Joshua Tree National Park, which isn't far from here. The property was beautiful, and Gwen and Erik were welcoming hosts! The decor is western with a twist of modern feel. There's a sweet campfire that was great to huddle around too. Would highly recommend this place if you're any where near the area!

Yelp
We have visited Rim Rock Ranch several times now, each time it never disappoints! We love the simple beauty of the desert and what the ranch offers. Gwen and Eric have done an amazing job with the restoration of the cabins and are always very welcoming. We look forward to visiting again soon. - Joey and Toanya

Yelp
I honestly can't say enough nice things about my wedding experience at Rimrock Ranch. The setting is out-of-this-world gorgeous so we didn't have to work hard at all on decorating. Gwen and Eric are fabulous hosts who seemed to really get our vibe and made our guests feel comfortable and welcome. They were always on hand for problem-solving but also gave us plenty of space and trust to host the wedding weekend we wanted. The venue is remote so we rented a truck and had plenty of help getting everything there and set up. So do plan on that being part of your experience. But this is really the kind of place that you can personalize and make special. We couldn't be happier with our Rimrock Ranch wedding!

Yelp
Get married at Rimrock Ranch! It is a desert dreamscape and Gwen and Eric are amazing stewards of the property. The fact that they live onsite makes the space much more meaningful--I mean, how wonderful is it that they share their home with so many people who want to celebrate love and a lifetime of partnership. They also made planning a wedding at their space incredibly easy, providing us with a comprehensive prefered vendors list (hooray for local vendors) as well as nearby Airbnb's for guests. It felt like once we booked Rimrock Ranch and their highly-recommended wedding planner (and super amazing person) Danielle, everything else fell into place pretty easily.   Moreover, they worked with us through three iterations of our wedding: (1) pre-COVID-19, (2) post-COVID-19, and (3) post-Apple Fire. To say that Gwen/Eric remained flexible and understanding is a complete understatement. When we had to adjust for COVID-19 measures, they were ready to go and clearly communicated all of the safety precautions necessary (including working to purchase compostable disposable dinnerware and livestream capabilities--no small feat given that Internet/cell service is a little funky out there). When the Apple Fire emerged, Gwen/Eric did their best to remain open to hosting our small group and kept us apprised of the ongoing developments. Unfortunately, we ended up having to cancel our wedding at Rimrock Ranch and move to having a ceremony out in Joshua Tree National Park. Please know that this was strictly due to the fire evacuation warning that was imposed on Rimrock and Pioneertown--it simply was not diligent to bring people to an area that could be forced to evacuate at a moment's notice. However, if that had not been the case, we have no doubt that our wedding would've gone forward without a hitch in a manner that was safe for all. Even after the cancelation, Gwen was trying to help and offered to share her livestream equipment with us (all this while she and Eric were packing up their belongings in case of evacuation).  Getting married out in the desert is not for the faint of heart. And if you can keep up, Gwen/Eric will be there for you. Also the lodging space is gorgeous and we have plans to book a stay in the future. :)

Yelp
We love Rimrock! My husband and I just got married at Rimrock Ranch a couple weeks ago. If you're looking for a weekend getaway or a wedding venue, Rimrock is your place. Rimrock is not only placed right in the middle of the most beautiful part of Pioneertown, but the owners, Gwen and Eric, have transformed it into a desert paradise. We stayed there for a weekend and were able to experience the venue as a guest - the cabins with the vintage decor, the pool, outdoor dining, the great service - the list goes on and on. Then when we hosted our wedding there, they not only provided a great list of vendors that we could use for food, etc., but they were communicative and helpful throughout the whole planning process - and affordable! No matter what you pay, it's worth every penny. We look forward to celebrating many anniversaries at Rimrock Ranch -- Kat & Marc

Yelp
We got married at Rimrock Ranch n 5/20/17, and it was absolutely magical. If you are looking for a desert backdrop, then this is the place for you. Apparently some of the weeding previous to our were plagued with some weather issues, but we had a perfect forecast, which allowed us to rest assure our day would be perfect. Gwen and Eric are just a couple of laid back people who know how to get things down in the back ground, and make you feel at home in the large private compound of Rimrock Ranch. We rented out the entire place which provided us with a good amount of space for our guests. Our wedding was around 115, but the venue would easily hold 100 more. The accommodations were lovely, although I hear the airstream VERY RUSTIC from our guest who stayed there, and could benefit from a few updates. I have no regrets about choosing this place as our wedding venue site unseen. The only think I would have done differently is get a sun cover for our dinner- it got quite toasty for a 5pm dinner.

Yelp
When I discovered there was no hot water working in the kitchen I called the owners. They simply confirmed that yes, the hot water isn't working. Very matter of fact, no embarrassment, no apology, obviously a known issue. When I asked how we should wash our dishes (which the signage directs guests to do) I was told to talk to the onsite person about "washing the dishes in cold water." Now, this is not monastic training, this is paid accommodations. The water was 33 degrees. Needless to say we didn't wash our dishes in frigid water, it's unpleasant for us and not sanitary for the next people. Later I got to thinking that perhaps other guests had been directed to wash their dishes in cold water which led to an unpleasant discovery (under better lighting): bits of dried food on some of the silverware, greasy film on some of the dishes. We also found a used tissue wedged in the couch cushions. I should have had some warning about sanitation issues when our downturned clean sheets had a throw pillow from the couch placed on them for decoration. Goodness knows when that pillow was last cleaned and it imparted a funky smell to the sheets right where our faces went. The only reason that this place gets two stars instead of one is that the property is spectacular and the restoration of the cabins was masterful. The property is remote and the surrounding area is gorgeous. You can really see the stars at night. It's very quiet out there. The cabins have the original 1940's wood paneling, which now has a high varnish, which is just great. They have added double paned windows in the main room where the bed is which was helpful with keeping it warm at night. This place has so much potential, so my hope is that the owners will attend to basic maintenance issues like hot water, and thoroughly clean the cabins and upholstery. Also a little customer care would have gone a long way here, like telling us we didn't need to do the dishes since there wasn't hot water. Also, it was a known issue and we weren't given a head's up ahead of time that the kitchen wasn't fully functional.

Yelp
The owner, Jim, is an outstanding guy and he has a great little ranch just outside Pioneertown. Pappy and Harriet's happens to be my favorite venue, and occaisionally has some great bands play. The new Hatch House on the ranch property is a thing of beauty. My wife and I stayed last summer and absolutely loved it. Prices are reasonable, the host is an awesome musician, and it's the high desert at its best. Nothing I didn't love about my stay, and we will be back!

Yelp
My friend Jim owns this fabulous little getaway tucked just past Pioneertown in the high desert. I can't say enough great things about Rimrock. Comprised of 4 cabins built in the 1950's, these little buggers have charm for days. They each are completely furnished in vintage western memorabilia/cowboy/desert motifs! Each cabin has a fully functional kitchen, a tv/vcr, a cute lil' bathroom, and a super comfty bed. Some of the cabins even have a couch seating area to entertain guests if you like. Borrow some videos from the manager's cabin! You'll feel right at home, I promise. And the property that Rimrock is on is simply gorgeous. Due to the fire that swept Pioneertown last year, some of the surrounding area has been burnt, but the desert is starting to bloom again. Peer around at beautiful Joshua Trees. If it's hot, take a dip in the Cowboy Plunge (the above ground pool). Have a big ol' bbq in the big pit bbq. Sing around the giant fire pit campfire. Gaze at the stars on the star deck. This place is heaven on earth and the perfect retreat for any stressed-out city dweller. And Pappy & Harriet's (one of the best restaurants/venues/roadhouses) is just a few minutes down the road!

Yelp
Just got back from spending a few days and nights here at Rimrock. We (6 of us) stayed in The Lodge and thoroughly enjoy the peaceful surroundings and cowboy feel to the entire area. We took our 2 dogs with us and they loved every minute of it too. Out here it gets really, really, REALLY dark at night. There's an observation deck on the grounds that the kids used to check out all the stars. One of the kids also had an app on his phone that helped identify all the planets. Amazing. It's miles from nowhere so be sure to stock up on food. We went the Pappy & Harriett's cuz it's the only game in town. While having dinner there, Jim, the owner of the Rimrock spotted us and came over to say hi. We also discovered that he was part of the band that was setting up and getting ready to play. Surprise. Cellphone service was pretty much non-existent for most of us. We found a DVD of The Princess Bride on the shelf, gathered around the TV and the fabulous fireplace and watched that. Fun stuff. There was also a ladder ball game (or whatever you call it) in the back yard. Something new for me but the kids were familiar with it. Almost like a game of horseshoes. We had a good time. But, again, we couldn't last too long outside because it was so cold. We couldn't wait to get back inside to enjoy that fireplace. Glad that they had lots of wood to burn. It was great. Check this place out sometime. Almost all of the reviews are excellent----except for one. (Didn't even read it cuz it would've just pissed me off.) Bring a good book with you too. Or bring your guitar. Or both.

Yelp
I organized a group of about 25 people plus kids for a little Thanksgiving/50th birthday event. I had a hard time finding a place that could accommodate our size, and was so grateful I found Rimrock Ranch! I had looked at their website many times, before finally calling, but thought it might be out of our price range and more for weddings. It turned out to be the perfect place. Gwen and Eric were super laid back and easy to work with, the pricing was totally reasonable, and when we finally arrived after a year of planning, the place exceeded our expectations. The way the cabins and hatch house are set up around a central outdoor space, was perfect for our group. It was so easy to meet in the common outdoor spaces, to wonder around visiting different cabins and friends, and for the kids to feel really free while still being able to keep an eye on them. We also had the lodge, which a group was able to stay in, that is close by, but just outside of the other cabins. There is a plunge pool and fire pit and observation deck which gave us many different places to hang out, without even venturing outside the compound. But it also was an easy drive to Yucca Valley, P & H, and Joshua Tree. The location is stunning. Pictures do not do it justice. The quiet sunrise moments are what we loved most. Lastly, the hidden gem is definitely Gwen and Eric. They were lovely and laid back and so willing to accommodate all our requests. I had different friends needing sleeping cots, sheets, laundry detergent, hangers, you name it. They always worked to find a solution, even if they didn't have what we needed on hand. They even helped me order a bunch of pizzas to be delivered, and a cab to the airport, calling themselves on my behalf. We left feeling like we had a magical experience and would love to come back!

Yelp
We just had our wedding at Rimrock ranch and I honestly couldn't wait to write this review. It was seriously magical, we had a nice 25 person intimate affair and all of our guests stayed at the ranch or in airbnbs in walking distance. We had rehearsal there Friday night as well as breakfast both weekend mornings and of course the ceremony and reception on Saturday night. Gwen and Eric went above and beyond to make sure the weekend was perfect. When a wind advisory threatened our Friday rehearsal in the courtyard they easily moved the whole party to the backyard of the lodge where there are heaters and protection from the element. They clearly take pride in their property and do everything they can to make the grounds beautiful for your special day. While they were around to help on the wedding night it certainly didn't feel like they were "too" present, just available in case we needed anything. Of course, my guests were respectful of the rules of the desert, no open fires, no loud music late at night, but with the built in fire pits and plenty of indoor spaces, my guests didn't notice the rules, and instead spent their time creating amazing memories. I honestly feel bad for my friends who are getting married elsewhere, because there is no way they will top this wedding. We also had our, very loud, 100 lb dog with us for the weekend and Gwen and Eric never had a problem with him roaming around, barking to announce his arrival, or just lounging about. While I can't speak to what it would be like for a large party. If you have a small-medium sized wedding, this venue was absolutely breathtaking, our guests raved about the interesting details. All of the cabins have been re-done inside, and while there's minimal cell phone signal, there are all of the amenities you could wish for and all the comforts of a standard hotel. Oh, and if you do book, Gwen provides you with a list of recommended vendors, I used most of these... and you should seriously consider it as well. Not to mention... when a package arrived for me the Monday after everyone checked out, Gwen and Eric took it upon themselves to dirt bike over to my airbnb to hand deliver the package. They clearly care about their guests, their brides/grooms, and the beautiful desert they call home. We're already scheming a way we can come back.

Yelp
This is an authentic hi-desert getaway. For a songwriter, it's paradise, with just enough distraction so as not to go stir crazy. It's a place where inspiration flows and creativity grows. While the amenities are not Park Avenue, they're more than adequate, with just enough vintage 1940s-50s vibe to remind you that you're staying in a very unique setting. The cabins are homey and there's a TV that plays DVDs if you need that. They accept PayPal which is a welcome nuance. The trust they place in their guests is also comforting. But with that comes some responsibilities, such as the expectation for guests to wash the dishes that they dirty. Remember: it's not a traditional hotel or motel. It's closer to renting a cabin in the mountains. That's not downside. It's just important to remember what the expectation is. Like a cabin rental, those same expectations are routinely required. The proprietor, Jim, it a gem of a host and made a point to get my feedback personally before I left the property. I am sincerely thankful that there is someone out there who "gets it" when it comes to a songwriters' retreat.
