This is a beautiful easy stroll in the grounds of the magnificent Lough Rynn castle. Only 20 minutes away from the Sligo/Dublin road. The mature, specimen, trees provide a glorious backdrop. If you are in luck you may find the walled gardens open!

Booked one night on the 15th of June, room was cold when we arrived, bathroom had mould in the corner of the shower ceiling and mould growing on the tiles in the bathroom. We were greeted by a manned podium in the main entrance on arrival directing guests. Reception and check in was efficient and professional. The floor manager in the hotel was body blocking guests from moving around between rooms and was quite rude with it. I understand COVID guidelines can be interpreted differently but if u are carrying it to this extent, then ur staff shouldn’t be handing the same pen to all guests to sign their bills. Guests were asked to settle their drinks bills before they cud move from one room to another and then another tab would be opened in the new room. The 2nd taller floor manager barked at a lovely elderly couple when they forgot to put their masks on before leaving their seats. We had booked dinner but when we saw the selection of only four main courses we cancelled and had dinner from the bar menu which was good. Three ladies with us in the beautiful lounge had dinner and were then asked to pay their dinner bill before being permitted to move to armchairs in the same room even though they were also guests and again to settle their drinks bill before going to their room. We also were asked to pay our dinner and drinks bill at the end of our meal which we queried and then we were told they wud add it to our room. One outstanding young server Finn, very professional behaviour all night. Lough Rynn was the final night of a four night tour of similar establishments and none of this nonsense happened in any of the previous three castles we visited, but COVID precautions were maintained throughout the previous three. A €50 voucher was put under our door for use on a 3rd return visit but I doubt if we will be back.

Enjoyed a stroll in the walled gardens at L Rynn, three beautiful tiered gardens in one, with views over the lake and house. Duly followed by refreshments of coffee and cookies in the lounge of the historic hotel of the same name. Still beautiful in mid March, the gardens feature a stunningly restored greenhouse, and evoke bygone days as ladies and gentlemen stroll by, taking in the mature grounds full of stately old trees, and hidden treats like the boathouse and charming tower and folly overlooking the lake.

Beautiful hotel. Comfy rooms and great food. The grounds themselves are a lovely walk. It is a delightful break away from the rush of everyday life.
