Río Clarillo National Park

A lovely place with great views, not too far from the city. Impossible to reach without a car though. I did a gentle hike for a few hours and was very impressed with how well the trails are marked - which is a good job because the only map they offered was useless. The park officials make sure they check everyone in and out too for safety. You have to book online in advance, but we managed to do it online there are then. Costs about $10,000 for foreigners and and 5,600 for residents.

Beautiful park, well maintained with accessible trails and lots of informative signs, and many restrooms. Larger trails were closed when I visited but will definitely return when they reopen!

Not recommended unfortunately. We were really looking forward to seeing this national park, went on the official website the day before, read up about it and followed the instructions to get there. From downtown Santiago, it took us about 1 hour and 45 minutes to get there on a Sunday. When we arrived at the gate, we were told that access to the national park was with reservations only and they don't take reservations on the day, you have to call in advance. I asked the guy at the gate to show me where it's written on their website and he gladly let me know that this is *not* written on their website. Not exceptions possible. We had to wait for an hour to get a bus and get back to Santiago.

A truly beautiful country park with lots of picnic areas by the Rio Clarillo. Great hikes for beginners and intermediates. There is an entry fee but, it is worth every penny! You must register on the website if arriving by car.

Fantastic. Relatively small but entertaining enough for a family day trip
