The location of the hotel was perfect nestle between Ipanema and Copacabana. 2 minute walk to the Beach. It was very clean and the housekeeping staff were remarkable. The security was top notch. João Santos was kind, patient, and simply amazing. He may sure that I felt at home and was there for all questions and assistance. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I will definitely stay here again!

Perhaps this was once a great "design" hotel, but our experience was disappointing. Our room was in need of an update, but the bigger problem was the bathroom. The walls were covered in mold, making it very unpleasant to shower (see photos), not to mention unhygienic.

Simple, Clean, Honest breakfast. 1 block from Copacabana beach and easy to get around. Second elevator was on repair and caused some time loss. Staff quite helpful. I better Poor TV/movies channels.

Service is excellent. Staff is absolutely very kind, specially since I was hospitalized because of a pneumonia. The hotel is on the corner of a very busy street. Kind of noisy. Have to close the window during the night.

This Hotel is currently Scamming us out of over 600 Euros. They tried to do this more than once. They say they need confirmation from your bank and when you accept they take more money from! Beware of this Hotel and Bookings.com. Someone in house is scamming their clients out of Money! No one from the Hotel answers on their number or Whatsapp and Booking.com’s Customer service is non existent. You cant get through to anyone.

Not a 4* hotel. Service was non existent. The pool has closed. Location is really good for the beach but very noisy because of thin walls and windows that don't close properly. Breakfast was good with a wide choice. Room was spacious and comfortable with good air conditioning. But it was tatty with poor maintenance. Our room on the 5th floor was tired and dirty. The shower tap fell off. They even gave us an old towel that had holes in it and we had to ask for new towels. The cleaning was very poor. Our room wasn't cleaned at all one day and the left a dirty coffee cup during our whole stay (3 nights). Also the bathroom wasn't cleaned properly. It could be really nice but needs some love and attention

The Design Hotel has a great location, one short block from Copacabana Beach. This is the only good feature of this hotel. ||We were quite disappointed with our stay at this so-called “design” hotel in Rio de Janeiro. Unfortunately, there’s nothing “design” about it. The room we stayed in was far from the sleek and modern aesthetic advertised in the photographs online, which are misleading at best.||The bathroom was particularly unpleasant. When we arrived, it was not properly cleaned—there was hair on the floor. The grouting in the shower had visible mould, and the showerhead was rusted. Worse, the drain in the shower was blocked, leading to water pooling during showers. While this was eventually fixed after we complained, it’s something that shouldn’t have happened in the first place. Additionally, the towels provided were old and worn out, which added to the lackluster experience.||Housekeeping was also a problem. Three times we returned to our room after being out for hours only to find it hadn’t been serviced. On all occasions, we had to ask for the room to be cleaned, despite it being well into the afternoon. On two occasions we directly asked the housekeeping staff who were servicing the room next door, to no avail. The quality of the housekeeping was perfunctory.||The mattress was sagging on one side, which gave my partner a painful back, making sleep even more uncomfortable. Additionally, the bathroom door squeaked every time it was opened, which was particularly disturbing in the night.||The quality of the bed linens was equally poor. The sheets were old, ill-fitting, and the bottom sheet came off the bed every night, which made for uncomfortable sleep. Additionally, there were no in-room tea or coffee-making facilities, which was disappointing. We also discovered that there was no iron or ironing board available, which is an essential amenity in most hotels.||The toiletries provided were extremely basic—small bars of soap and some locally made shampoo of questionable quality. For a hotel presenting itself as a “design” destination, we expected much better.||The breakfast buffet was acceptable but very basic, offering limited variety. The one saving grace was the location, which is convenient for exploring the city.||To top it all off, the Wi-Fi was weak and slow, making it difficult to stay connected.||Overall, this hotel fell far short of our expectations, and we wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for a true “design” experience.

The photos of this hotel are a complete lie. We entered a room with peeling walls, cockroaches in the bathtub, dirty bed runners (whatever they’re called) - I was half convinced they had blood in them. The door to the bathroom was hard to close. ||This is a super shady hotel. It rained one day, and when we got back to the hotel our room was flooded with water - were on the 11th floor! There were puddles everywhere in the room. When I called the front desk they brought someone in to clean the floor with bath towels. Then they put towels on the window sill - when I asked how does this fix the problem they said it’s only because of the rain, it’ll be over. Then I mentioned it’s going to rain the next day and they didn’t care. ||When we informed the tour company of our awful experience (as we booked a four star hotel experience) they called the hotel who told them that it wasn’t their fault because it was a “meteorological event” - how is flooding a room when it rains not your problem?! It wasn’t even raining that hard. ||Overall, beware of this hotel. Everything about it is shady.

Yelp
This hotel is very comfortable and close to everything downtown. The staff is friendly. They offer a nice breakfast that includes fresh fruit, rolls, eggs, bacon and coffee. The rooms are comfortable- ur on a trip so don't expect any glamour but its a place to rest your head after all of the tours and shopping

Yelp
Great staff they were excellent in every way posssible. Marielle at the front desk truly understands customer service above and beyond. Rooms are moderate i would not call this hotel luxury but rooms are well kept. Cleaning staff well trained. Breakfast is good large variety does not tend to change in new things everyday but still large selection. We enjoyed our stay thanks.
