"The Rio Museum of Art recently emerged from a renovation to offer rare film screenings, lectures, and its first immersive space, a multisensory experience inspired by Rio's natural phenomena; the museum's permanent collection features more than 31,000 items, including a piece by legendary Brazilian artist Tarsila do Amaral."

This was quite an interesting museum. It is focused on Brazilian culture and Brazilian art. It is not the fanciest museum we’ve ever been to, but the subject is beautifully presented. It will give you a nice and unique perspective on current and indigenous Brazilian art and culture.

I really appreciated the emphasis on the Native and Afro influence in Brazil. Through the oppression of these racial and ethnic groups, cultural expression has found other ways to flourish, effectively creating the rich, vibrant and colorful version of Brazil we are familiar with today. There is a lot more to learn about the history and resilience of African people in this country. Skip a couple tourist stops and opt for a short educational tour in the immediate vicinity of this location, i.e. Little Africa (details available in attached image).

I definitely recommend the visit to understand a bit of the rich and diverse culture of Rio. As of today there's an exhibition around Funk, abolitionist women, carnival and indigenous language. We absolutely loved it. There's a terrace on the top floor with a lovely view, and a lift for accessibility purposes.

Wonderful scenography. The linguistic exposition is overwhelming, the artist did a wonderful job to educate us on the great prejudices that suffered, and still suffer, the native population.

The ticket office staff and ground stuff at the elevators are not responsible and helpful. They do not warn visitors that the museum does not allow bags of any sizes. All visitors have to wait in line for only two slow elevators. Then when they get up, they have to return to the ticket office and store bags.

The funk exhibition was very nice. However, they sold us tickets at 5 and kicked us out of the exhibition at 5:30, which was quite disappointing. They should warn that that exhibition closes earlier or not sell the tickets. Still, good value for money

Yelp
In front of Amanhã Museum. It's not that good, but I would go anyway. I had the chance to see the Samba exhibition and it was very good indeed! The rooftop is totally worth it too. En frente al Museo del Mañana. No es tan bueno, pero iría de todos modos. Tuve la suerte de ver la exhibición de Samba y fue muy muy buena! La terraza vale la pena también.

Yelp
It is too bad that a museum that appears to be recently renovated houses quite a poor collection of artwork. It has random artwork that is placed haphazardly throughout the various spaces. I thought it was a waste of my money and time to visit this museum. I'd save your money and visit the more substantial Tomorrow Museum diagonally across from the Museu de Arte do Rio.

Yelp
Very little going on. Exhibits on display were really kind of gross, irritating and immature. Staff was fooling around. I would not go back here.
