Where to Drink + Dance in Rio De Janeiro
View Postcard for Rio Scenarium

Google
Fantastic venue for watching live music. The venue is spot over several floors so there is plenty of seating, however the dance floor is at ground level so arrive early to get a table in view of it! Good selection of drinks with quick table service. The live bands we watched were great and had a packed dance floor. The venue felt very safe with IDs being checked on arrival. Would highly recommend a visit.

Rio Scenarium is a vibrant, must-see spot in Rio! The decor is stunning, like stepping into a vintage museum, and the live music and dancing create an unforgettable atmosphere. Drinks are great and the food is solid, though a bit pricey. It can get crowded, especially on weekends, so arriving early helps. Overall, it’s a fantastic place to soak up the city’s nightlife and enjoy authentic Brazilian vibes. A unique experience worth checking out!

Google
Very nice place to visit in Rio. Going through a metal detector at the entrance adds to the safeness of this place. Take the elevator to second and third floor to get other experiences than the first floor offers. The food is good and very affordable - the drinks as well. Although the caipirinha’s is not the best we have had in the city.

We didn't eat but the food looked okay. The atmosphere, WOW. I’ve traveled to many places but this night is up there with my top 10 memories of travelling. The music was incredible, the atmosphere was so magical. If you love samba and dancing this is a must. Cocktails were great and not to badly priced we found. Our waiter was very attentive and are table couldn’t have been in a better position to watch everything. We were concerned about safety but we got a uber there, 2 mins walk down the street and your there. We had no issues and felt safe (I was even videoing in the street) something I didn’t think i’d be doing.

Google
Rio Scenarium is incredible. The did is good, the drinks are great and the atmosphere is amazing. I enjoyed the causative of live music and crowd interaction. I can and will be returning soon. The people were friendly. The prices were very reasonable given the entertainment received. Rio Scenarium is so much fun. It truly represents the best of Rio de Janeiro night life and culture. The culture really showed as the crowds sang along with the artists that were performing. I highly recommend Rio Scenarium to anyone looking to have a great time in a great environment.

Google
This is amazing! A luxurious mansion with its own exceptional atmosphere! Great musicians and performers create the mood, and the service staff does everything to make you feel comfortable and cozy, as if you were in your own home. ☺️ I recommend visiting and enjoying the evening. 😃 Thank you so much for the warm welcome! Success and prosperity!

Google
I would give many more stars to this place if I could. Incredible atmosphere and so much fun being had. Everyone in the place is happy and smiling. We didn’t dance but enjoyed our food (beef burger and vegetable risotto both good) and the caipirinha’s were delicious. Absolutely a must to visit if you like samba or want to experience it in Rio.

Yelp
I love this place. Great live band, good atmosphere and everybody is happy there. I want to go every time in Rio.

Yelp
Stunning interior, lively music, delicious and strong drinks, friendly staff, great way to spend an evening dancing and singing. This used to be an antique store, and there are still beautiful antique items throughout the place. Absolutely adored this spot.

Yelp
Visiting from Miami. This is a must Go place. The service is first class. Super secure, clean and awesome food with Spectacular music. Alexandra took care of us on Saturday lunch. She was Special. This is the real thing. Don't miss it. The Feijoada is truly special and the Caipirinhas super high quality; smooth.

Yelp
Researching of things to do in Brazil this was one of the popular spots. Seeing this in many to-do lists I was sold on the live music and vibes, here was our experience on a late Saturday evening. AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking but good luck, you're better off taking Uber/Lyft or public transportation. Seating: Inside seating almost everywhere. Both downstairs and upstairs for large groups or couples. You can be close to the live music or a bit more distant. Feels: You're in clubbing central so you're not too far away to try out other party spots however this has to be a must visit if you're touring. It's all in one, good food, music, and a little cultural art of Brazil. It's a guaranteed popping spot whether you like live samba music or clubbing beats, you have options! FOOD: Caipirinha (Recommend) A well-mixed drink that with fancy cachaca, sugar, and lime. A pleasant fusion of liquor, tanginess and sugar. Nothing too special or not much options but still a good feel to get a nice buzz. Picanha Burger (Recommend) Now if you've tried picanha, then you know this will be good. The meet is well cooked and juicy. Honestly the bun just holds you back. The fries were crispy and delicious. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Awesome. The waiters were friendly and the DJ was dope. They left a great impression with me, definitely would love to come back. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. For those that would like a handful of Brazilian experience, this is your spot. The food was delicious, the art was pleasing, and the music was vibing. These were better then some other clubbing events I checked out. What's cool is about this spot is that if you feel like an outsider, this spot attracts many people around the world, also it's a for sure spot to be popping. TIPS: * 50 R ($12) For entry * Check online for their performances. * Don't be a hopeless romantic and be like the wallflowers waiting to be picked up, be in the present and enjoy what's happening on the floor!

Yelp
I visited this amazing place with my friends for a birthday celebration. And what a gift they have free entrance for the birthday person and the partner. The place is espectacular, three floors full of antique's, live Banda and place to dance and learn to dance. Food is great and full bar. We had a great amazing birthday celebration.

Yashoda S.

Yelp
a live brand club with samba. It's a quaint place with interesting decor over 3 floors. The live band started and there were soooo many amazing couples dancing samba!!! No one speaks English here - and the waiters don't know much about the menu- I asked a few of them what their drinks were made up and they were unable to tell me. They had to keep leaving to check on it. The live band and music is good - people dancing were a good show. You get a card at the start which has their full menu on it. When you order, the waiters check it off the menu and you pay at the end. 35 real entrance feee as well to be aware of. Otherwise everything is well priced. We made a reservation online as table reservations are open for 7-8pm or you can just walk in after 8 and get seated anywhere.

Denise C.

Yelp
Loved the live music here! If you want live Samba this is one of the spots to go to! It is an old antique house with really odd, but interesting decor. It has a total of 3 floors with different rooms for different kinds of music. They also have a little balcony on the second floor if you want to look out into the scene downstairs. We really enjoyed coming here.

Amanda G.

Yelp
I can see why this is the most popular place in Rio for going out! Visited a few weeks ago on university trip - cover was $50 R for Saturday night (a bargain at just over $12 USD). The place is enormous, spanning three floors, decorated with eclectic pieces of art, fashion and the like. A live band plays samba music throughout the night. The main floor dance area is converted to mainstream electronica at midnight and was thee spot to be! Packed with people, young and old, one of the most fun nights I've had in awhile. A must visit for anyone in Rio!

Leo D.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the cultural immersion at this music venue. Upon entering they require ID and they give you a menu card that tracks your purchases. Every person gets a card and they take your picture. This tri-level building has antiques grouped together by item type: mirrors, clocks, horn instruments, pharmaceutical containers, etc. There is even an ancient working elevator. The middle section of the building is open so you can see and hear the band playing Brazilian jazz music. Food and drink service is good. Priced competitively and very efficient way of paying. Don't throw throw your receipt away, you need it to exit.

Ian L.

Yelp
Fantastic samba and dance atmosphere, with live bands on 2 floors. With a cover charge and relatively pricey food, it is your 30+ crowd, averaging 40+. Dont believe tripadvisor reviews who say it has fantastic food. They have poor tastebuds. Food and drink quality were merely average and paying the bill is a pain. Food: 3 My friend got the grilled whitefish with capers (R48), which was decently seared and tender enough. However the pile of grilled peppers was mediocre and limp, hardly inspiring. I got the shrimp in some tangy sauce with polenta main (R49). The shrimps were not fresh nor was the sauce anything to remember. The polenta did not have any grainy fragrance to it, as if it were out of a can. Go for the dancing, not the food or drink. The cassava appetiser sticks were nothing to shout about. And the mojito - tall plastic glass, plenty of ice, poor quality rum.

Yelp
It is nearly impossible to say what is the best trait about Rio Scenarium, because it has so much to offer. The first thing that you notice is that it is beautiful. The entire three floors of the two buildings it occupies are full of antiques. Even if it wasn't a club, this place could stand on its own as a museum. They really have everything from a 100 year-old Ford to an entire pharmacy from the mid 19th century. After checking in and getting your photo taken (as is the routine for all clubs here in Brazil), you can make your way upstairs first, as the staircase seems to be inviting you up. On the second floor, which is slightly less crowded than the first floor, there are many beautiful and interesting antiques, including an entire pharmacy shop complete with bottles, cabinets, and counter. There are many tables here, and you can sit down to eat, but on a busy night, you will find a much more calm place to eat up on the third floor. Off the second floor there is a hallway into the neighboring building, where there is a dance club area (playing top 40 and/or EDM), but the real gem of the place is the main stage on the first floor where the live samba and bossa nova bands play. Take a look at the many expert dancers that fill the floor. You can even watch from upstairs, as there is a cutout around the stage area on the second and third floor so you can look down and watch the action from above. This place is a must-do, and plan to stay out until at least 3:30 in the morning!!

Yelp
Woohoo... I see Yelp's in Brasil! And woohoo... Rio Scenarium still remains one of my favorite places in Rio! I was there twice on my last trip, and have visited probably 10 times over the past few years. There are samba/MPB/ traditional Brasilian acts that play live on the first floor and a DJ on an annex of the 2nd floor. Most people migrate later to the DJ room. The 3rd floor is a great area to kick back on chairs & sofas, some of which are ancient, which brings me to... The place is a living, breathing museum, and everywhere (except DJ room) is piled with artifacts of times long past, including toys, musical instruments, intricate clocks lining the walls, and old furniture and statues throughout. Drinks are pretty cheap and good. The strength of your caipirinha can be varied to your taste (I ordered one for a friend who wanted his stronger -- and when I requested his to be "PetroBras," the concoction had just a couple ice cubes and a couple lime slices in it, with the remainder being about 8 ounces of cachaça, so be careful what you wish for...) I've only had their food of the appetizer variety... all good, especially the bolinhos de bacalhau. Service is fine and frequent, especially if you're very friendly with your waiter and slide him R$10 along the way for being such a nice guy. People range in age from 18-88 there -- really! -- and *everyone* dances. Yourself included. Very friendly vibe. I came here once by myself and some nice ladies quickly dragged me over to a friend's birthday party table, my basic Portuguese and all, and of course against my protests. Other advice if coming here: * On weekends, come early (before 9P, and that's Brasilian-early!) or be prepared to wait in a long line. This also gives you a better shot at snagging a table by the downstairs dance floor. * If you find yourself somewhere without a long line, you probably went in the bar with the same name down the street. * You must have an ID. When checking in they scan your ID. I think this has less to do with Brasil's loosely-enforced drinking-age-law and more to do with the consumption card system where you pay for your drinks and food on exit. In case you decide to pull a drink-n-dine-n-dash or otherwise misbehave, they'll have some idea who you are. So far, nobody has come to my door in CA about anything. * AC only in the DJ room, so shorts are must in summer... though try not to look like a slob, Chippy. * While Lapa has cleaned up quite well over the past 10-15 years, don't wander too far off the main streets and plazas and into the night. You can make it to Carioca de Gema just fine at all hours from here, and the bars along the street here keep things lit up. * Brasil now doesn't permit smoking indoors. Lucky us!

Yelp
This is def a tourist spot. I usually try to avoid these, but this place has a good vibe and great live music. They have 3 floors, the place is massive. If you dont like the live music on the ground floor you can go upstairs to one of the areas with diff. music. You dont pay when you enter, they give you a ticket and they keep track of all your food/drinks there. When you leave they tally the items on your ticket + entrance fee. You can pay with cash or credit. Do review your ticket before you pay, sometimes extra items show up. Its packed on weekends, but pretty laid back during the week.

Brad B.

Yelp
Anyone who feels the urge to dine in a club built for music obviously isn't a foodie.Place is fun laid back and definitely entertaining. Tourists absolutely but I was there during the week no line no attitude 2 bands no complaints. Music was great when I was there but every night will be different.

Carolina A.

Yelp
Great place to listen to live music! The vibe of this place is very artsy and bohemian. We absolutely loved it for a night out in Rio. Totally recommend. Place has 3 floors and it's very rustic and artistic.

Jenna G.

Yelp
Great experience! It's a lovely place full of antiques on the walls, the decor is definitely interesting. There's a cover, I believe I paid 35 Reals give or take. There are 3 floors, each has tables. There's a really cute old fashioned elevator (Yes it works!). There's live music. I had 2 Caipirinhas and that was more than enough for me. The waiters are great they take your order and bring back your drinks very quickly. They give you a card where they check off all the drinks you've had the whole night and when you're ready to leave you go to the counter and pay. Once you pay, they give you a receipt that you show to the security at the door and they let you out. Over all it was a great night out!

Luisa S.

Yelp
Heard so much hype but was a bit disappointed. Don't get confused with the place next door (same name just Jazz, not Samba) and be prepared for a wait to get in, around 20 mins or so.. Food was really bad. Suggest eating before. If you can reserve! Bottom level has the live band and dancing and is the best level, top floor is more night club come 12... Wait staff are either super nice or absolute arses... Reginaldo, on middle level, was very cool! Long story short, different setting, bad food, good music.. 40brasilian reel entry and a ticket system so pay on exit. Remember to bring I'd or you're not getting in!

Ami P.

Yelp
A MUST VISIT! I can't stress how awesome this place is. We made online reservations prior to coming here, since they're known to have a long line at the entrance. I have never seen such a mixed crowd with different age groups before! It was certainly an experience. We saw people in their 20s to late 70s...now that's unique! The culture and spirit was so alive here, and I loved it. It was fun dancing to the live music and watching everybody sing along. Plus, their food is awesome...especially the cheese ice cream.

Anneke D.

Yelp
Rio Scenarium is a fantastic fanciful venue in the historic center of old Rio. Located in a townhouse, it showcases a collection of over 10,000 antique objects and furniture. It can be extremely kitsch (we found a display case of creepy doll heads) to fascinating (cameras throughout the decades, old TV sets and suitcases) to luxurious (an ornately upholstered living room set in shades of pink). It's worth taking a tour through all three floors and their variety of rooms to check out the different... scenarios? The music also varies from room to room. The predominant vibe came from the ground floor, where locals put visitors to shame with their samba moves. When we were there, the middle floor boasted a Brazilian pop/country music duo that sang some catchy tunes. The food was no great shakes, apart from the various empanada appetizers and the burgers that we ordered around midnight. (To be fair, we were in a large group and had privatized the top floor, so perhaps only their group set meal wasn't incredible). The drinks, however, were excellent. Try the passion fruit caïpirinha!

Christopher M.

Yelp
Authentic samba music and delicious food. The neighborhood lapa is really cool too. I ate a lot of food which was great and drank a few too many caipirinhas

Ryan A.

Yelp
Pretty solid club with lots of charm and something for everyone. There are three floors and lots of space - this place is huge. The decorations are really cool and give the place a lot of character (especially the clock wall). Some of the dance floors have an open ceiling with a balcony above, luckily there are nets to catch any falling objects but just hope that nobody spills a drink on you. There was a long line to pay when I was trying to leave, and the place was very crowded, but if I go back to Lapa I'll go here.

Brooke P.

Yelp
Pros: excellent live samba, huge and well decorated, several dance floors, quick moving line to enter. Cons: horrible service, overpriced drinks, rude security, high entry fee. Worth a visit once, I guess? I won't return.

Susan W.

Yelp
This place is located in Lapa, about a 40R cab ride away from Ipanema on a street which reminds me a bit of New Orleans, or a set of a movie. We arrived early to try and avoid lines, got there around 830, and still had to wait about 30 minutes to get in. Luckily we were able to snag a seat for some dinner, but it would probably be wise to make some reservations for dinner if you can. Band that played on the first floor was great! The crowd was a mix of all ages, very casual, and the decor was super eclectic. I felt like I was in Disneyland, or the haunted mansion. The side room from the second floor was super crowded with a DJ and a mix of brazilian music. If you're looking for a good singles place, this may not be it, the amount of eye candy was a bit on the low side, but if youre looking for an awesome experience with a bit of everything, come here!

Ati H.

Yelp
Fun place to listen to local music and even do a little dancing . They give you a ticket and add to it as you order. You pay at the end and credit cards are accepted. There's a small cover charge per person too . The best part was all the antiques ! Each of the 3 floors had memorabilia from years before and quite interesting to see. No American music though just FYI .. have fun! And casual dress is fine

Lauren B.

Yelp
We had a great time here! Our waiter was super funny and made the night for us. We enjoyed the live music and watching everyone dance. The decor was do not what you would expect for a bar or club. Lots to do and see here.

Maggie H.

Yelp
Cover is $$25 on weekdays and R$40 on weekends. It will look like there is a line to come in, but really it's because the process of taking everyone's ID and giving them a bar tab sheet is a little time consuming. So don't worry, the line will move fast. First floor is live samba music, second floor is supposed to have a DJ? but when I went there was also another live samba group playing. Try the passion fruit caiprinha and walk around to enjoy all the quirky decor. I hope you know how to samba! Because this is definitely not your typical night out in the US. Don't be shy, get on the dance floor and have some fun. You're in Brazil!

Sofía A.

Yelp
This place is a really popular place among both locals and tourists. It plays only Brazilian music which is awesome and it has 3 separate floors for a separate vibe in each one. The bottom floor is samba with a live band and the second floor is similar except at 1 AM you get a DJ that plays Brazilian hip hop and dance. In my experience it was really cool but very pricey. I paid more than I would pay at one night of a hostel just to get into the place. Then drinks ranged from 10 to 78 R$. Caipirinhas are 15. It was okay. But there way more guys than girls on the night I went and guys are intense into picking you up for the night. *40 dollar cover, takes credit cards, they ID at door

Emily B.

Yelp
So we went here on vacation in rio. Really lovely atmosphere, felt really safe and very beautiful. The only negative side is that there is a cover and the ambiance is very touristy but it does not take away from the fact that it's the reason why you're there! It was a bit pricey, even as an American! The drink were delicious and the live music was a very nice compliment to the bar. A short walk from the arcs of lapa and definitely worth the short track over. I would recommend to anyone visiting rio as this bar will not disappoint!

L H.

Yelp
Great music, pretty fun crowd! They have live music on the bottom level and a DJ on the top floor. We spent most of the time dancing at this top level. Rio Scenarium is in a cool building--looks like a historical building. From upper levels you can peer below to see what's going on elsewhere. We went on a weekday but there were still plenty of people dancing and having fun across this 3-story club. There is a cover even on a weekday. Drinks are pricey for Brazil -- even for Rio.

Athena K.

Yelp
I don't know if anyone who is actually from Rio comes here, but it's still fun for the night. Things start hopping at 11ish and reservations are a must on the weekend. They give you a card which tracks your drinks (and food if you order it - I didn't) and you pay at the end. Each room has a theme. We were in the mirror room. And the music varies by floor. It's quite loud so talking is difficult and chairs were a bit uncomfortable; though I think most come here to dance and listen to music rather than to sit and chat over a long dinner.

Fernanda C.

Yelp
Maybe all reviews of Rio Scenario should be in english because its basically a cliche tourist place. High prices to enter, to eat, to drink (compared to others dance houses in Rio)... But matches with the quality offered. The place is very well decoreted with a lot of arts, the music in Rio Scenario is very ecletic, people are nice and in all ages. Maybe to "gringos" its a nice place to go, but I dont see many local people going there.

Young F.

Yelp
IF ...and I mean IF you can get into this spot without waiting in the ridiculous line, you must try this place. Must. I can't really describe this place except to say that the views are terrific, both from the balconies, to the dance floor. Different music for different people on different floors. I was amazed...and I'm from Miami. No shortage of kudos for this spot.

Sergio D.

Yelp
This review is for the club and not the restaurant. Some friends and I visited on a Saturday night after attempting a Wednesday night to find out it was closed. We paid $50 R for cover both girls and guys. The place is huge, and offers a live Samba band with music that plays throughout mostly the entire place. There is also a part of the club that plays music like Reggaeton, Latin Music, Hip Hop, etc. Very nice decor throughout and relatively cheap.

Nisim H.

Yelp
Big bad tourist trap is all this is. Charged us 50R cover charge per adult just to get in. The music is not that great because we've heard far better at Circo Voador and elsewhere even at the restaurant next door on our way out it was more authentic. The food was a waste of money. Not that great at all and expensive. They lined the tourists on the way in and they check your passport going in and receipt of payment on the way out as if.. I would not recommend at all.

Yelp
It is spelled RIO SCENARIUM. This Restaurant/ Bar/Venue is one of the most interesting places I have ever visited. It is also known as pavilion of culture. The place is designated in its entirely a National Historic Landmark and a National Heritage Site. It is in downtown and therefore doesn't belong to the traditional tourist circuit what is perhaps good, because it helps keep the identity. The building style is a very beautiful and well-kept colonial architecture. The feeling I have when I go into the place is that I'm entering another world. It's pretty much like a museum, but beautiful, elegant, colorful, cheerful, witty, tasteful, attractive, charming, singular, different. It's very interesting. It's completely decorated with antiques. I was told Rio Scenarium is an antique shop in the morning and a restaurant/Bar/Venue in the evenings and everything there is on sale, but I have also heard the opposite. So I'm not sure about it. And if you happen to be a collector, you'll have to ask. At Rio Scenarium you will only hear the most genuine Brazilian Music, which is really vast and isn't only comprised of samba. The place is a hot spot and is really in among the locals. If you don't make a reservation, you won't get any table free and will have to drink standing at the bar/ or dancing... It gets really crowded sometimes. The prices are somewhat high, but quality and good service have surely a price and I think it is worth every cent and every visit. Nevertheless this is the biggest criticism of the locals against the place. It's too expensive. They say the restaurant charges prices for tourists (well they are everywherein Rio, it's true. And they want to know what's up in the city, the hot spots, and gor for it). Well, in my opinion I found it OK, I expect quality too and I get it. Others speak about the violence of the security staff. In fact, they are instructed to let everyone that causes trouble out and to expel the troublemakers whatever it takes, because the security of the people in there is the most important and they won't experience any problem such thefts, fights, arguements, etc. I am for it, honestly. The food is excellent. My husband had Camarões flambados na cachaça sobre purê baroa/ Prawns Flambéed in Cachaca on 'Batata Baroa' purée and said it tasted like heaven. Batata Baroa is a kind of potato, grown in South America, which looks like a carrot. It is yellow when peeled and is very aromatic and nutty. Just delicious!! I found out Batata Baroa's name is Arracacia xanthorriza (I needed to buy and prepare it at home). Well, as to me, since I don't like sea food, I went for Escalopinho mignon com penne ao molho gorgonzola/ Escalope of beef tenderloin with penne with gorgonzola sauce. My dish was simply superb. The dessert was great too. I recommend the Petit Gateau. If you are chocolate fan as I am, you should not miss it. In case you're not that hungry you may choose the sandwich Filet Mignon with Pineapple and Cheese in Ciabatta Loaf. It was one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. They also have a good selection of wines, but you can have beer, water, fresh fruit juice, coffee, cocktails, etc. Last but not least, the environment, the atmosphere, the mood, the food, the music, the service, the decoration, the vibe, everything is great and Rio Scenarium is worth a visit.

Kelly A.

Yelp
A must go if you are in Rio. Come early or be ready to wait for a while in line. It's locate on the St Teresa neighborhood which I Love so much. It's very lively with great places to eat around. The place is huge with 3 floors to explore around. They have lots of eclectic pieces of art all over the place. We will hear loud Brazilian music and great dancing. They also have good food and the caipirinha drinks . It's open until very late I think 5am and later on the event the DJ upstairs gets the crowd going. It's very fun.

Erica K.

Yelp
This is a great place to go for a fun night. I doubt the real locals go there, but there were plenty of Brazilians there, probably tourists. You can find all ages, and it's fun to at least people watch if you don't want to dance. But if you do want to dance, there's plenty of that too. They serve food and of course have great drinks. I'm not sure if you have to have reservations for a table, but we got there early (around 9 pm) and sort of snagged a table. The bands are great and the vibe is fun. The food isn't amazing- we had some mixed 'puffs' sort of like empanadas. Pretty average. I do like the payment system where you pay on the way out and hand the bouncer at the door your receipt. There are a few little bars/ restaurants on the small road it's on. Do not wander past that. There is wifi so you can call an Uber when it's time to go. There are plenty of cabs waiting at the end of the street too. This is definitely a seemingly safe fun way to do Rio nightlife. If you go on a holiday, expect to pay weekend entrance fees. Have fun!

Yelp
Spent out first night in Rio at this place and had a wonderful time. This place is massive, with multiple rooms across multiple floors with various live bands and DJs playing at any given time. They serve food and alcohol. The only downside is that there is no reservations or hostess-seating; you have to hover and swoop in to get a table on a busy night, which is quite annoying. That being said, the live bands were great, the decor is kitschy and fun, and you can roam around. A great place to come for a lite bite, drinks, and dancing.

Yelp
You love Samba and other south American dances and music? This is the place for you. The Scenarium is a gigantic venue extravagantly decorated with memorabilia collected over several decades. The Scenarium offers a great programme of live music and is very popular with locals and tourists alike. It also works as a restaurant, the food is decent and not overpriced.

Yelp
Elaine, the doorman, is the eptiome and lesson of the Stanford prisoner experiment. Her attitude determines her latitude and that is apparently very low. I politely, I emphasize that for future backlash, asked her of other options around the area and she laughed. She then attempted to embarrass me by loudly pointing at the back of the line and told me no. Fortunately this was only bad experience in Rio. With that said I love everything else this beautiful city has to offer. Ciao!

Yelp
Food is okay but the atmosphere and experience is well worth it for any gringo! Three levels of fun decor, great music and food. We visited with a large party our first night and had a blast - great caipirinhas!

Yelp
Really awesome place, good service. The live music was perfect for the atmosphere. This place is a definite if you are coming to Rio. I'd have come here again, if I only had more time in beautiful Rio.

Yelp

Yelp
Fun place to listen to and see samba in Rio. If you're staying at a hotel, I would recommend that you have the concierge book a reservation so that you don't have to wait in line. I'd order food elsewhere as it's nothing to write home about. If you have a reservation, you get a table and you can order s drink, watch the band, dance and still have a seat! Recommend getting there by no later than 9pm on the weekend nights as the lines can be long!

Yelp
Super eclectic place...if you like music and really cool venues go here. 30 mins from the beaches totally worth it.
