"A path worth searching for Sometimes it's nice to get off the beaten path. You can take the normal pathways around Cinque Terre (and they are spectacular in their own right) but you can also veer a bit off the normal journey and take the 'high road' to catch a glimpse of some breathtaking vistas. Leaving Riomaggiore through the back road on foot, keep walking up hill until you see a small set of stairs under the main road that lead down to a grass path. Follow this path under the stone bridge, and begin your ascent up through the vineyards and terraced gardens. When you reach the top, soak up the unrivaled sea views. From some out-perches, you can see four of the five villages at one time."

Yelp
This restaurant has such a charming little look and it is tucked up on the hill out of the way, just past the train station. The view here is amazing! Almost certainly the best you'll get in Riomaggiore while eating. There are 10 tables on the rail with a perfect view to the sea. The sad news is that they don't do reservations anymore so planners don't get a leg up on setting a table aside. The service here was sub-par, but the server was very nice. We started with the cheese plate and some moscato. I didn't like a couple of the cheeses but the wine was great. For dinner, I ended up with the classic lasagna and I thought it was just ho hum. I got to try some of my daughter's pesto and that I found to be better than the lasagna.

Yelp
I came here to enjoy drinks at sunset! The view was gorgeous and the wine was great. We enjoyed the white wine tasting which had local wines to the region. They also served olives and focaccia bread. I took off a star because the service structure was confusing to us. There was a sign at the table to order at the bar but then when we went to order at the bar we were told to wait for our server. The server only came around occasionally so service was very slow. This was still however a 4 star review because even with slow service, these views at sunset are hard to beat! This was also a convenient location just up the stairs from the train station.

Yelp
I'd give A Pie de Ma 4.5 stars but am bumping it up to 5 because that view! And they actually had a plant-based pasta dish on the menu, hallelujah. Yes, make a reservation. I made a reservation for 7:30 on a Friday over email a couple weeks in advance, as the seating is very limited and Cinque Terre is extremely packed in the summer. The dining area is up above, and the (more spacious) bar is down a level. We got to choose our table, and went for the two-top at the very edge of the space. It can get a little breezy so be aware of that! I enjoyed a couple glasses of the local white wine recommended by our waiter. It's both affordable and tasty. They bring out a couple different styles of bread, perfect for pasta sauce dipping. One was a darker variety, and the other was a softer slice, orange in color. Perhaps died with turmeric? I preferred the orange. For food I was so happy to see pasta with roasted veggies and orange zest on the menu. It was fresh, light and flavorful. Just what I needed. My sister went with the pesto pasta with potatoes and green beans. I snuck a bite and it was also good. Given the view, quality of the food, and classiness of the place, the prices are very reasonable. My one complaint, which is out of the restaurant's control, is the tourists who hang out right behind/around the tables to take in the view of the coast... especially when sunset hits. I had people standing right behind me while I was dining, and one extra pushy women squeezed between our table and the next to snap multiple photos. Um excuse me?? The service is pretty standard for Europe, a bit hands-off after you order. I would definitely recommend dining at A Pie de Ma if you're visiting Cinque Terre, especially if you're staying in Riomaggiore. It would make for a lovely date!

Yelp
The friendliest server in Italy! This place has it all. A nice stop in Riomaggiore with a beautiful view. Appetizers were delicious (got the bruschetta and a sandwich). The ambiance is excellent to enjoy a quick bite before heading to see other places in Cinque Terra.

Yelp
We didn't get much but it was delicious. The wine tasting (semi-dry to dry wine) from local vineyards in the Cinque Terre comes with green olives and simple focaccia. We also got the bruschetta and the focaccia sandwich were satisfying, to say the least. The staff is casual and helpful. A great place for a sunset dinner or snack.

Yelp
Fantastic place for a drink - beautiful views! I had good negronis which was reasonably priced, and some nice prosecco. There's no table service but a tiny bar which creates queues, so try to go a bit early. I ordered two drinks at once...purely for efficiency's sake of course!

Yelp
How can you not love all the places in Riomaggiore? This is coming from someone who spent only a few days here but has seriously fallen in love with this place. So I'm not biased at all. The evening we spent here was cold and rainy, AND I STILL LOVED IT. We opted for the 4 white wine tasting options and they were all different and nice. It also came with a complimentary focaccia which was lovely. And as you can imagine, the view was superb. We did need to move into a more covered place as time went on because it got too cold, but it was still very cozy and nice.

Yelp
A fellow Yelper noticed I was in Cinque Terre and suggested a stop by A Pie de Ma for the sunset. I never would've found this place on my own, so I appreciate the rec! Keep in mind that this spot is close to the Riomaggiore train station. You only need to walk up some steps and you're faced with a striking view of the sea. You won't get a beautiful town perspective like in some other viewpoints, but this is a great spot to just enjoy some wine (or beer in my case) and apps while overlooking the water. They weren't serving full plates during my visit since it wasn't summer yet, but they did have appetizer plate options. We split a cheese plate (12 euro) and a free plate of focaccia doused in olive oil with a cup of olives. I would've been happy with just the focaccia, and wish I had requested my own plate! It was SO good, I could hardly stop eating it! Definitely grab a spot here for the sunset if you're touring the towns!

Yelp
Came here for the amazing views and had some good snacks as a bonus. In researching many recommended coming here to watch the sunset. That was the plan but we realized we were too early so opted for a nice apeetivo with a view. (Turns out that was a good decision because it rained later). The concept is order cafeteria style at a counter and then take your number to the table and they will bring out your food. Ordered a couple drinks at the counter and also placed an order for bruschetta. We were able to enjoy our drinks in a corner table with an amazing view. Service was great but could see this place being crowded when the weather is really nice. Bruschetta was tssty with fresh tomato. Large pieces as well. Very romantic spot to enjoy views, drinks, and snacks.

Yelp
Visited this establishment May 12, 2022. Don't go! Service was horrible. We ordered drinks and tried to order food but the waitress would not stop at our table. We noticed that two tables who came in after us were being served their food and we hadn't even ordered yet. The waitress with the long dark hair was rude and when we tried to get our bill she put her hand up like "talk to the hand". We will never go back there again!

Yelp
Two levels, down stairs drinks and sandwiches, upstairs proper restaurant food. All in all lovely views which is the selling point really, Nice local food, local tuna or lamb. Italian sized portions just to keep you going The restaurant seating area is at the start of the Cinque Terre walk, which by the way was closed for last five years :(

Crystal L.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant, in a beautiful town. The food was good, but service was a little lacking for the price. The white house wine was the best wine I had my whole trip.

Yelp
One of the most popular places to visit in Riomaggiore. I wouldn't recommend coming here for the food. But if you want a bottle of wine and soak in the views, then this is one of the best places you can visit. Located on the (currently closed) walking trail to Manarola. You have to climb up behind the tracks to get to it, but it is a nice way to have a drink while overlooking the clear water below. I am sure the wine is a bit overpriced, but you are getting a free show. Save the heavy eating for restaurants by the harbor, but come here for a drink with a view. Everything looks better from above.

Yelp
We visited A Pie de Ma while in Riomaggiore after seeing rave reviews online. The 2 stars are for the amazing view and the okay tasting food. This restaurant is self-service, however the staff were quite rude and uninterested in assisting us at the bar. The restaurant is also cash only, which is pretty common in Cinque Terre. Due to the fact you can see the amazing view elsewhere, the food is nothing special, and the staff are rude, I wouldn't recommend a visit.

Yelp
Gorgeous spot, delicious food. Try to sit at the table with the globe light. Mood is perfection as the sun goes down.

Yelp
The place succeeds only because of the location: stunning view of the blue waters breaking on the rocks below, and a few steps up from the train station on your way to Via dell'Amore. Service is at the bar: order and check back in ten minutes to pick up. The pricing wasn't as generous as elsewhere in Italy, but again, you're paying for the experience. Our charcuterie and cheese plate was scanty, and the wine wasn't the best. You're pretty much cornered into going here though, because we went into town afterward and it was small and quiet, without any other viable options in sight.

Yelp
It's located right at the train stop. Take the stairs up and you'll find it! It has an amazing view. Good selection of food/snacks and drinks. You order at the bar (quick and easy). It has more of a casual vibe and it's somewhere to enjoy the views of Riomaggiore.

Yelp
Great spot in Riomaggiore, panoramic view of water and the town, great food and drinks, what else is there to say, we just loved this place.

Yelp
My friend and I stopped here for a few hours before getting on a train. Note: you have to travel up some stairs, which can be tough if you have heavy suitcases. Still, we had a great time relaxing in the sun and taking in the view of the coast. The bar and food was self-service when we went, but that was fine for us. We had some local prosecco and a plate of bread, olive oil & pesto. It was the perfect afternoon snack before our trip!

Yelp
Cooking lessons - The highlight of our trip was cooking lessons with Luca, the chef at this restaurant. We learned how to make many types of pasta from scratch (including ravioli) and pesto. We tried some local bread and berries. We did everything hands on and it was awesome. We were with Luca about 4 hours and the time flew by. The price was great and it was just my wife and myself. We found out about the cooking lessons by visiting the Bar and seeing a postcard. I suggest going to the kitchen on the top part of the restaurant and talking to Luca during non-dinner hours to set up your morning cooking lessons. Bar - What a view! What a view! What a view! A nice walk away from the main street but still a nice being near the train station. The food is nice and is a change from the typical Cinque Terre food.

Yelp
Great location. Amazing views. Self service at the wine bar in the afternoon. Our cheese tray was nicely prepared. The staff made good suggestions on our local red wine. Yvonne, their sommelier, was there, too.

Yelp
The view is spectacular! Casual and affordable. Self service place. Place your order at the bar and seat yourself. Have swordfish or tuna carpaccio or have and half with your beverage while basking in the sun breathing in the views and the Italian Riviera.

Yelp
I've been to this place in summer and just loved it. Such a nice view and good food with affordable prices. So bad that we discovered this place only on the last day of our stay there. Can't wait to go back in here again!

Yelp
Located above the train station, with some of the best views in Riomaggiore. We sat on the patio under the shade structure and soaked it all in, while sharing some platters of meats and cheeses. Overpriced, yes, but just like anywhere - you pay for views like this. Definitely a great spot to have a leisurely lunch or dinner while soaking up the Mediterranean. You order at the counter and they give you your drinks and a ticket; then you come back about 10 minutes later to get your food. Olive oil is extra if you want it, but the balsamic vinegar is free - go figure.

Yelp
Solid place and pretty much the only restaurant in Riomaggiore... anyways it overlooks the sea which is quite beautiful. They have a really extensive menu with some very authentic Italian dishes which is cool. I came in a tour group so I ended up having my dish preordered--it was a cheese and prosciutto and salami sample platter. I think the really cool thing about this restaurant is that everything is sourced from Cinque Terre. The cheese, the meat, even the wine--everything that this restaurant produces is from the region--talk about sustainability!

Yelp
This is a dream location for a light dinner and a bottle of wine. The seating is all outdoors on a terrace area out over the water. Depending on when you go, you might need to make a reservation, as it does tend to fill up. It's self service, so you place your order at the counter and then come back in 5 minutes or so to pick it up and bring it to your table. We shared a local cheese plate, a tomato and mozz salad, and their house white - all of which were good on their own but not spectacular. The setting can't be beat though!

Yelp
This place was wonderful. The tables are right by the sea and the food is delicious! We had cod and prawns to start then baked fish and pesto afterwards. Finished off with dessert

Yelp
This dinner spot was incredible!!!! A small dinner menu but a very accommodating staff, the service was amazing!!! Prices were very affordable and the view was UNREAL. Make this a must when you visit Riomaggiore!

Yelp
The first floor is a self service bar that only serves cold plates and beverages. It gets very busy in the late afternoon and into sunset. The second floor serves a small but delicious menu for dinner but you absolutely must make reservations in advance. We were able to make dinner reservations only one day in advance. Of the two experiences, I would recommend dinner. The wine/cheese/appetizer patio seems a bit overpriced and their food is actually quite delicious! The view is stunning. The service is slow since they are completely understaffed but we weren't in a rush because we were enjoying watching the sun set. Literally. The food was surprisingly wonderful: I was impressed with the presentation and the taste for the price. Highlights were the calamari appetizer and trofie pesto pasta - obviously home made and the pesto was perfectly balanced--not too salty. I have tried some of the other pesto dishes in the area and the pesto sauce is overwhelming...this one was perfect. The calamari was lightly seasoned with salt, pepper, and lemon and served with a sweet potato puree. It was heavenly. I only wish that we had ordered two rather than sharing one order. Also keep in mind the weather. The day before we had dinner there, we had drinks when it started to thunderstorm and they have very limited covered seating. Half of which is only semi-covered since the water was still leaking through. Let's just say it was a unique experience in the rain... You absolutely must visit to complete the Cinque Terre experience!

Yelp
We visited this restaurant for dinner our first night while staying in Riomaggiore from the great reviews we saw online, but it was not a good first impression. It is a self service bar with small appetizers-the food, wine, and view was good, but the staff was extremely rude and uninterested in their customers. The view is not worth going to this restaurant and you can find much better food elsewhere in Riomaggiore.

Ryan S.

Yelp
The best place to eat in Riomaggiore! Terrific, friendly service and management; amazing small plates like charcuterie and caprese salad; and one of the best patio views in CT. Our host in Manarola recommended we check A Pie de Ma out and we are glad we followed her advice! Don't miss it.

Yelp
Waitresses were rude and aggravated because it was very very busy and hot. The food was average, the place has the view but that's really it. Go there for a drink. Definitely not good with young kids, steps everywhere...

Kirsty J.

Yelp
Beautiful view!! Delicious house wine and yummy food. Only thing is it is self serve (order inside and then pick up your food).

Tina B.

Yelp
view is spectacular. staff wasn't that 'interested' to serve you at the bar but oh well, still worth it.
