Rischart Café am Marienplatz

We liked this location so much that we ate there twice! We were happy to get eggs and bacon for breakfast and later on an Irish coffee and cake for dessert. Yum! Sitting upstairs gives you a great vantage point to everything going on in the Marienplatz. Service is friendly and efficient and the food is delicious & reasonably priced.

Consider very reasonable priced due to its location and popularity. You may not like the crowded condition or very noisy surroundings or the service may not be very pleasant or personal but you have to understand they will let you just order a cup coffee or tea and let you rest of your feet after all those walking! Besides, their coffee and cakes and sandwiches or kitchen items also very good! If God permits us to visit Munich again, I would love to come back and have some coffee and sweets!

Nice place to take a break for lunch or tea. Outside seating may be a bit cold during Dec but the cafe was thoughtful to provide blankets to cosy up while enjoying the sights nearby. Wide range of sandwiches, tea cakes and food! Huge selection of cakes ! We ordered Lattes and Coffee, plus some food and they were delicious. Caesar Chicken Sandwich and the White sausages with pretzels were yummy. Will pop by again if I am around the corner. Friendly and efficient wait staff too. :)) ☕️

In the heart of Marienplatz, the place has a huge indoor and outdoor seating area, but during Christmas market they removed the outdoor seating! It’s nice to grab and go not for dine in because it’s too crowded and noisy! Many people enter for the toilet, it cost 2 euro!

Perfect food, great Christmas atmosphere and professional service. They serve the best breakfast and brunches, also really good sandwiches and sweets. There are also some traditional sweets sold in ready to gift packages. Also the coffee here is decent for german standards. But beware: The prices are a bit high.

Dec24 12. It is crowded, service was good but the atmosphere was Jam Pack. The tea and the cake were good. The only issue is the WC is not free. There is a lady with a child and she was very disappointed to realise have to pay 1 euro after spending so much on meal, we gave her a coin to get in. There r 3 Richart and we already visited 2 - the other WC is free.

It seems like a pretty common chain in Munich, offering a good variety of baked goods. The green onion sour cream is great, but the pretzel itself is not particularly impressive. It would probably be much better fresh out of the oven.

The flight came in at 6am and my first impressions weren’t that the German people were welcoming me with open arms - instead they wanted to take away my lithium battery from me at customs. I then made my way into town and at Marienplatz took my first walk around a German city ever - a real milestone I’ve never actually stopped to get out. And it’s so nice here. So charming. This cafe Rischart was pretty much the only one open and serving with a great display of cakes and donuts and what not and I came up the back and was served by a lovely frauline who made a great double espresso with some munchen cheesecake. Of course none of this would have been possible if I hadn’t found a bathroom in the train station which surprisingly cost 60 euro cents to use and set off all kinds of alarms the only saving grace was that it took payWave thanks god. And so this ends my first experience on German soil.
