"Family-Owned Bakery with a 125-Year History Rischart is one of Munich 's most beloved bakeries. It's name is synonymous with high quality and there is always a large variety of fresh-baked goods to choose from. Now in its fifth generation, this family-owned business shows no signs of slowing down and continues the baking tradition. There are various locations throughout Munich."

This is one of the best Richard branches. If you go to the upper floor, you can enjoy a lovely view of the old town square. The staff wear traditional Bavarian clothing, and the café has a cozy, warm atmosphere. Almost everything here is very tasty, although it’s a bit more expensive, which is probably due to its location. I’ve tried other food items here before as well, and we liked them. The elevator does not fully cover access to the upper floor, so if you have a stroller or a wheelchair, it’s best to coordinate with them in advance.

This cafe brand seems like a popular chain store in Munich, I never saw it Berlin. You can see it almost every street and the store looks good. This one located in Marienplatz is the Flagship store I guess, two-storey store full with people all the time. The first floor i guess js mostly for take away, there are only few seats and tables there. But the second floor is more for dine in there. We waited there for like 5 mins to get a seat. The view near the window is spectacular, you sit there with your coffee and cakes seeing the whole Platz and the old building just in front of you. But it depends on if you can get a table near the window. The cake is yummy, coffee is fine, service is nice, just need to wait, cause it’s really crowded.

The Rischart Bakery House has been existed in Munich since 1883 , and it is directed right now by the family's 5th generation , so a very big experience in baking breads and sweets is absolutely already there . This Rischart Café am Marienplatz is different from other Rischart Cafés that are scattered here and there in many places in Munich , because of its wonderful position in the heart of Munich , and in the most famous and visited square in Munich : Mary's Square , just in front of the Gothic Town Hall of Munich , which is one of the most important landmarks of the city , and where all the visitors and all the tourists come daily . In addition to the quality of the sweets , there is the elegance of the presentation , and the kindness of the staff . I have tried almost all kind of cakes there , and I have liked them all , specially the Tiramisu , the Munich's cake , the Chocolate mousse cake , the apple Strudel and the plum cake ( the Zwetschgen Datschi ) . and I recommend all what I have mentioned above to anybody who wants to go and enjoy a piece of cake there . Sitting in this Café, just in front of the Gothic Town Hall of Munich , while eating a piece of cake & drinking a cup of coffee , is absolutely something special in any time of the day , and in any time of the year .

The coffee and pastries were delicious and the view was spectacular! However, some waiter was a little rude with another customer next to us but the lady who took care of our table was very polite and friendly. I still want to go back again to try everything ! 😋

Everything is wonderful and delicious. It's always busy. But the blond Turkish man working there is very attentive and does his job very well. We really liked him. He became our reason for going there. We will come again

The Rischart Cafe was at the excellent location with large selection of the delicious dessert and bakery 😍 Waitress was explained the menu for us. We would love to visit again on the next trip to Munich 🤍

Google
An excellent spot for breakfast and pastries. We had breakfast around 8:30 today and were glad we arrived when we did, as the upper dining area filled up very quickly. Despite how busy it became, there was one waiter handling everything, and he was absolutely stellar. The flat white and cappuccino were both great, and the breakfast dishes were excellent—especially the porridge, which was truly out of this world. We also tried the ham and eggs, which were very well done. Over the course of a couple of days, we picked up a variety of pastries, and every single one was unbelievably good. A wonderful place to start the day in Munich.

Rischart Café – A Munich Treat In Munich’s heart, I found my way To Rischart Café one bright day. A pastry simple—apple, sweet, With sugar on top, a lovely treat. The service quick, the choices wide, So many delights I could hardly decide. Prices clear, no time to delay— I grabbed my joy and went on my way. So if you're near and craving a bite, Rischart Café gets it just right!

Yelp
I'm not a pretzel fan and probably only ate it a handful of times in my life. It's extremely popular in Germany as it symbolizes prosperity and good luck. I figured to give it another go when I was visiting Munich since Germany sort of specializes in pretzels. We noticed Rischart as we were walking around as they have appetizing displays of pretzels and variations of it. They seemed popular as there was a line at the two locations we discovered. I figured they must be good at pretzels and this was a safe bet. At the second location, we stopped by to order one. Customer service from the cashier was friendly considering how busy they were. The pretzel had a nice chew to it and the pieces of salt were nice. First few bites were good but it did get a little chewy for me. Good experience and now that I had a pretzel in Germany, I can say it's not my cup of tea.

Yelp
I stopped here for a mid-afternoon sweet treat. I got a hazelnut croissant, and it was good but not too memorable. There's a wide selection of pastries, all of which aren't too expensive. There's a bathroom upstairs--for customers it's free, otherwise it's 1 euro. Despite having ordered and showing the staff my pastry, I was told (rudely too) I had to pay 1 euro, which wasn't too fun.

Yelp
Great pretzel, great location. The cafe is at the center of the main square. You get to enjoy your food and drink while enjoying the beautiful architectures and street music performed by street musician. The line was pretty long and the ordering was a bit chaotic since it is first come first serve with multiple registers. People were cutting and getting cut. But, overall very worth it!

Yelp
I love the sandwich options. Always a good choice. Fast take out food when you're on the run

Yelp
Absolutely delicious bakery in Marienplatz. Such a variety of things you know and never knew existed...from croissants to Bavarian pretzels stuffed like a bagel with cream cheese & chives (amazing btw). The also have a variety of homemade sandwiches and coffees! I had the Apleschacke and Cappuccino-delightful!

Yelp
My wife and I came here to celebrate my birthday. After buying three slices of different cakes and two Milchkaffees at the service counter we were told that we were not allowed to enjoy our purchases in the restaurant. And not told very nicely either. There were no signs indicating eat in or takeaway, which would be a simple process fix. We thought that we were to buy our goodies and then take a seat. I understand that working with tourists every day must be quite painful, but a restaurant such as this must be staffed by someone who enjoys that type of work. This restaurant is a poor representation of Münchner hospitality to visitors. Not allowing this to spoil our experience we enjoyed the cakes in a quiet nearby courtyard. The cakes, especially the Fidelioschnitte, were excellent. Not good enough for me to ever return though and I am a frequent visitor to München.

Yelp
I wanted a pretzel and saw they have several varieties, including a cheese spread, pepperoni, cheese topping, and others. My pretzel with cream cheese spread was about 4.90€. My main issue was the server grabbing the pretzel and open mouth coughing on it before putting it in the bag. The cases for baked goods are filled with wasps flying around inside the case and landing on breads. Absolutely zero food safety standards and so many workers coughing. Perhaps come here towards the end of your trip otherwise you risk being sick during vacation which is no fun.

Yelp
Horrible service! Waited for 45 min and waited never stopped to even greet our table, no drinks, and poor service. Even other customers complained about not being served and totally ignored. Thank you locals for being thoughtful at such a distasteful place.

Yelp
Amazing assortment of pastries and cakes. Cafe in the bakery overlooks Marien Platz. Highly recommend having a coffee and pastry here if you need a break from beer and bratwurst!

Robert O.

Yelp
Loved the idea of being able to grab some food and eat it and people watch. Being right there at Marienplatz where lots of other stuff was going on was great. This food and environment go hand in hand in making this a quick and easy stop for food. I got some pretzels for then and later for my flight back to the states. I would highly recommend this place if you visit Germany.

Yelp
This location is full of delicious foods. It is very busy. You do have to have euros to use the bathroom. The food is fresh and beautiful. The items are all fairly priced. It is perfect for a quick bite. They also have a dining area upstairs.

Yelp
Wonderful people, delicious food- bakery is amazing! We loved the cinnamon roll and croissant especially.

Yelp
Rischart hat deutlich bessere Tage gesehen. Leider wurden einige Qualitaetsprodukte aus dem Angebot genommen. Man kommt heute ja auch mit weniger Qualität gut durch ...

Hayan B.

Yelp
Prepare to be ignored and then snapped at when you try to order. Service is brisk and resentful. I imagine it is difficult to work in a place that is full of tourists. Would not recommend at all. Find somewhere more polite and appreciative of your business. Bad service will ruin the food. Food: 3/5 | Service: 1/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5

Yelp
We just got a slice of strawberry cake. There were 3 people serving and all of them were very friendly and they try to understand English. The ambiance was inviting. The cake presentation was pretty nice and tasted pretty good...it had a little liquor quick but not overpowering.

Molly E.

Yelp
F- this place. They purposefully ignore English speakers. These Germans are the least efficient people I've ever met. Don't bother eating here unless you're a local or have hours on your hands. I'd get up and leave but I'm starving and desperate.

Yelp
Rischart is located in the Marienplatz. They are well known for being an excellent bakery and restaurant. The coffee is strong and served hot. There were many sweet treats to choose from. The lines are look and people cluster around the displays. It makes it a little hard to decide what you want to purchase but it's a small price to pay for the experience. I ordered an almond pretzel that was the best that I have ever tasted. It was loaded with almonds, lightly sweet and perfectly crunchy. I also added an apple strudel looking item that that was wonderful. There was a small amount of custard under the apples that was creamy good.

Yelp
The Rischart location at Marienplatz is HUGE - several floors with plenty of seating area indoor and outdoor! Note that the WC/bathroom is on the third floor. They have a large selection of fine bread and pastries on the first floor, and then desserts on the second, with a ton of items from the bistro and special desserts menu. I got the Latte Macchiato and the Cafe Amaretto - both were pretty good! Just a bit pricy. But overall, definitely a place to hit up if you're in the need of a place to sit and relax in the square!

Yelp
This place is such a little gem! While visiting Munich, I ate here twice and loved it both times! The half liter cocktails are a definite star of the meal, and only 11£- which is cheap for what you get! The tartes are amazing, I loved the walnut and goat cheese flatbread/pizza/tarte so much & the salads are also fantastic! I definitely recommend sitting on the side of the outside patio where the high-top tables overlook the market! Would definitely recommend trying this place out!

Yelp
I already wrote a super long and awesome review of this place on the old page. I mean. Just know what you want before you sit down. And the hot chocolate with chantilly Creme is the best
google avatar

Yelp
This is a great place for breakfast. Upstairs they have sit down service. They have a variety of egg breakfasts as well as various pastries, breads and breakfast desserts. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Great food and awesome service! We came here for breakfast and the waitress was so nice and helpful! The breakfast portions are big, even for us Americans :) also very reasonably priced! Definitely worth a try for breakfast, desserts or even just to grab a coffee!

Yelp
As you can imagine, this coffee shop has a high tourist footfall. The location is terrific. Coffee was not out of the ordinary. Great breakfast spread which I didn't try. They do have public restrooms on the second level (€1).

Yelp
Came here a few times during our stay in Munich. Pretzel with cream cheese and chives to go was tasty. The mozzarella sandwich had good chewey ciabatta bread. We took all of that to go. We sat in today for a cappuccino and slice of florentiner apfel, which was delicious. Apples and almonds and raisins and more.

Yelp
Sunday breakfasts with family. Stately empty. Place due to COVID-19! Very fast service , all items in menu available and top quality! Recommended in you are in center of Munich

Amoreena A.

Yelp
We were wondering around Munich looking for a place to eat. We had already had food but we were still hungry and got looking for a nice bakery to sit down and eat. And then we found Rischart, we got a kaseckuchen, Himbeerschnitte And Zimtschnecke , it was delicious. The food was so good that we were fighting for the last slice of Kaseckuchen Benjamin-- age 9

Yelp
We tried to get dessert and beer at this location in the outside seating area on the Marienplatz. The servers ignored us outright after seating us. They refused to take our order. Even the locals were telling the servers to take our order, but they answered rudely "a server will come soon". We probably waited a total of 15-20 minutes and got up and left. Other tables that were seated after us already got their dessert and drink. We think they treated us like this because my husband, who is Mexican/Salvadoran American, looks Middle Eastern. I've been to this location before with my sister and had no issues. I would never recommend anyone of color to this business establishment.
