On the Grid : Rise & Grind

"Rise & Grind Espresso Bar is nestled alongside a small line of shops in the suburb of Doubleview. Their selection of cakes, cookies and doughnuts is second to none and quite scary for sugar addicts like ourselves. They also stock the very delectable Top Dup doughnuts, which are a must try. If you like your coffee strong, creamy and frothy then this place will suit you perfectly, plus with their $3 coffee before 9am in the morning, how can you go wrong." - Zebra

This is our first time here as we were heading to Bunnings Innaloo and I gotta say that the food is lovely. Had the savoury waffles what was almost exquisite (except the waffles could be slightly better) and the big breakfast and the salmon bagel was nice. The service was the best thing about it that made this place work well. The people were friendly, attentive and even gave my kids 2 additional marshmallows (even when we did not order any hot chocolate!) I also noticed that they are also a dog friendly place that provides free dog treats, definitely a rare commodity in Perth. Will definitely be back.

Friendly service, lovely atmosphere, and outdoor seating options. Good food with a great range of choices. The breakfast boards are worth the value 🥓 🥞🍳

Came here for breakfast on a Sunday as we love trying new breakfast spots and we were happily surprised. Really love that there were different things on the menu that aren’t typical breakfast dishes. Had the zucchini fritters and it was soo good. Would definitely return. Really nice place.

Lovely cafe with really good service, guy behind the counter was super friendly which always sets the tone for a good meal! Lots of really yum looking options on the menu and heaps of vegetarian options, had the fritter stack it was delicious and really good value it came with everything. Partner said the coffee was one of the best he's had too!

Google
Highly recommend R&G. We were looking for something new to try around the area and saw that Rise & Grind were pretty highly rated. A few different businesses have had a crack at this location over the years and none that have really impressed. The venue is small but we've never had an issue getting a table. The menu is really interesting, which is refreshing to see. Most places seem to have have one dish that's a little different, but isn't the core menu. R&G has a few and they are all delicious. Only critique to offer is that passionfruit smoothie bowl was a bit intense, would have been good if this was more balanced. Coffee is great, food is great, what more could you want?

Nice little brunch spot. Very good menu with some classics and some fairly original options too. Service is friendly and prompt. Seats are outdoors and indoors. A pet friendly spot out the back.

Came here a few months ago and had the zucchini fritters and really enjoyed them. Came back to have them again and the recipe had changed. There was no salad this time and the dressing had changed to a Hollandaise sauce. I didn’t enjoy it as much unfortunately as it was a bit mushy. We also sat outside and the tables were really dirty. I asked someone to wipe it and someone came out and wiped all the tables except the ones where the customers were sitting. So I asked the same person again if someone could wipe the table and no one came. It did spoil it a little bit for me as i felt like I was eating on a grubby table. The seats outside were also quite uncomfortable. It was a little bit expensive at $74 for two mains, two drinks and 2 hashbrowns.

Yelp
I popped in for lunch around 1pm. I knew it was breakfast all day. But I was glad that there was the rosti Benny stack for a savoury option because muesli wasn't what I was feeling like. There was a lack of cold drink options as they had run out of ingredients. I ordered the green smoothie. I have to say that paying nearly 30 bucks for lunch in a suburban cafe did not make me feel like I was living the dream. The rosti stack was not bad, the poached eggs were borderline over done. A cute cafe. Very friendly staff. I'd probably pop in for a coffee on the run next time though.

Yelp
The coffee here makes me actually "ooh" and "ahhh" after those first few delicious sips! It's Pound Coffee and it's that smooth, chocolatey, well - bodied stuff that I love so much right now, and when I'm lucky enough to find a place that does it I am their's forever! It's small inside but cute, and I'm dying to go back kid-free and sample the breakfast menu, so many interesting and inventive dishes!

Yelp
Not sure when this cafe changed its name and/or changed ownership, as the interior seems to be the same as the last cafe, but the name is different. Annnnyway, I dropped in last week for a coffee. The cafe sells are few sweet and savoury food options, the giant cookies on the counter and a frittata in the display cabinet looked good, but there wasn't much else left at 2pm that day. I was only after the coffee anyway, and it was served quickly which was great, but the coffee itself wasn't the most delicious in Perth.

Yelp
I arrived early this morning just after 7:30am so had my pick of the tables. Checking out the menu, I thought it was on the expensive side - I fancied the feta scrambled eggs with spinach and pistachio dukkah, but at $22 with bacon wasn't that keen. I settled for the brioche French toast with fruit sorbet, walnuts and salted caramel sauce which had no price listed on the menu, but I think was $16.50. This was a very attractive plate with beautifully soft French toast and a surprisingly generous serving of walnuts. I would rather have had something creamy other than the sorbet, but that's just personal taste and the dish as a whole was delicious. Unfortunately my coffee was very average - I think I arrived just before the main barista did - and I expected better from somewhere with "Espresso Bar" in the name. The "Loaded Shakes" sound great at $10, and I was very tempted by the "Type II" chocolate shake at $12, but that's a bit too much - even for me - at breakfast time!

Yelp
We stopped into this place as a random stop, and it was local to the area of Innaloo. This is a very small café which I would not have expected all the goodies they had to offer. I assumed it was just a small coffee shop with the basics available...but I learnt not to judge a café by its cover. I looked at the menu for a long time and then went onto their Instagram posts which caused much debate about what we should put in our tummies. The Banana Bread board and the Strawberry Waffle Stack looked mouth watering....Haloumi Salad sounded great..... Then the look of their 'loaded shakes' OMG don't even get me started. Such stress it caused to make a choice :). I finally settled with the choice of Poached Eggs with Spinach on a Potato Rosti with Salmon and Capers, and hollandaise. For $22 this was quite good value and topped with greens to decorate (and eat if you want). This was very nice and tasty and I was pleased with this choice. Then I saw some pictures of Brownie biscuits which were sandwiched with salted caramel. I was pleased to find out they had just made them up and I was able to try one. First bite into this bikkie was a tastebud explosion, I was so impressed. I could only get through half as it is very rich and I am more of a savoury person. But geez this was so great I definitely had a foodgasm. My friend ordered a Malteser Milkshake, and I had a sip to find this was also amazing, and the presentation was great. The staff were friendly and helpful and I look forward to going back and trying their other menu items and the sweets on the counter top.

Yelp
What a little gem! This was recommended to me by fellow yelper Nicola W. We enjoyed a skinny flat White three quarters full and a cappuccino in a mug with an extra shot. The coffee was smooth velvety and had a slight chocolatey taste. The food looked amazing too look forwars to sampling the breaky menu or grabbing some takeaway from the cabinet. Will return to this local gem!

Yelp
This new addition to the same strip of shops as Chinta gets a big thumbs up from me. I live nearby and you will find me walking down to Rise and Grind for a coffee a few times a week. The coffee is the best in the area if you're looking for more of a smooth hit rather than the sharp caffeine punch my husband prefers. They use pound beans. The counter is always full of treats including topdup donuts that I find hard to resist. I haven't visited for breakfast yet, but will soon. The menu looks nice and diverse with something for everyone and the meals brought out to other patrons as I wait for my coffee look great.

Yelp
This place is a gem! The food is always delicious be it dine in or takeaway! When dining in, the breakfast servings are very generous, and the food is hearty yet fresh and somehow light, not leaving you feeling sick if you finish the whole plate! I had the brioche French toast this morning which was HUGE but i finished the whole thing and I feel fine. I think it had a good balance of tangy stewed fruits to offset the butterscotch sauce and cream. The coffee is also AMAZING here! The service is delightful, especially today's barista who is always so friendly and kind :) I travel 3 suburbs over regularly to come here for my coffee, I'm addicted!

Yelp
Love this coffee shop! I was lucky enough to head in a couple of times before christmas and check out the frankly amazing gingerbread creations. I can't imagine anywhere else in Perth that would have such a selection of gingerbread houses, christmas trees and tree decorations! The coffee was good too, smooth and creamy - just the way I like it.

Yelp
A really decent coffee and some inventive food options. This place has been reinvented more recently and they've got some really cool food gift ideas. They also cater but I haven't tried this service yet.

Yelp
This is one spot for brecky in and around scarborough worth popping into. Had the big brecky and it hit the spot, just the bacon could have been a bit crispier Washed it down with their mug of long black 3 shots which was right up there too. They need to do something about the music as we are not all 18 and female. Atmosphere is huge ! But we will be back. A great addition to the area

Yelp
So... heard great things about this place. However we waited 45minutes for our food to find out they had lost our order... the owner was fantastic and checked to see where it was. She told us a couple minutes & we would have our food... 20minutes later... my coffee cup had someone's lipstick all over it & my fork was covered in someone else's breakfast... so disappointed in that area. Although food was AMAZING! And staff were also fantastic & we received a free shake which was extremely nice. Also you have to have a Muffin! Omg the best thing u will ever eat!

Yelp
Bright and light. Friendly staff and really good pound coffee. I'm a morning regular and since they close at about 2pm each day I sometimes stop by again for an early lunch. The eggs benny stack with a home made hash brown is seriously delicious and my family and I can't get enough them. The breaky pannacotta is pretty and I have also tried the bircher which is yummy.
