We stopped for breakfast and got the egg biscuit. It was very delicious and filling. We left with donuts, pie, jam, applesauce, and fruit pizza. Everything was so good. They were really busy when we first arrived. It didn't take long to get through the line. Everyone that helped us was very nice.

Google
The BEST Carmel cinnamon dusted donuts & baked goods! Call ahead to make sure you get your donuts— they sell out fast!

John Ireland

Google
Had a pie given to us from costco. It was a peach and tastes good, but there was no bottom crust, and the whole thing was only 1/2" thick. I get it you want to make a bunch of money, but sending terrible products out to major retailers is not going to help your brand when it's not a quality product.

James Herrmann

Google
We always stop here, for the cinnamon powdered donuts. They have a good variety of donuts. However, since new ownership a few years ago the cinnamon donuts are not the same quality. Used to be so light and airy, they melted in your mouth, now so anymore, just average

Joy Seeker

Google
The very very best donuts you will ever eat! They melt in your mouth! Huge variety of different flavors of delicious donuts!!! Sandwiches served too. Pies, assorted jarred Amish goods and snacks. Busy place!

Google
Hands down the Cinnamon Caramel Bavarian Donut is the best donut we’ve ever eaten. We split it but it would be easy to scarf down substantial amounts of this donut. It’s a busy place so be patient. There are plenty of donuts, pies, cookies, jams, cinnamon rolls, noodles and much more there to buy. As we were checking out the cashier says they made too many donuts that day and feel free to pick up a couple boxes as we left, for free! How about that for service. Just finished off a cinnamon roll slathered in cream cheese frosting.

Google
Great place to visit when in the area. They have a variety of goodies to try and take home. Locally known for their donuts, pies and jams. They also have a deli. Place is clean and staff is friendly.

Google
This is a huge donut shop. I love their donuts when I get them in Fort Wayne so had to come to the original. It was hopping due to customer appreciation day. They were very organized despite the crazy number of customers.

Yelp
Whenever I'm in the area visiting family I have to stop at Rise 'n roll for their amazing donuts. They're decent sized, they're filled well, and most importantly they're delicious . I keep it simple with what they call chocolate covered bavarian cream aka Boston cream where I'm from and haven't been disappointed. Each visit just s good as the last with all baked goods being fresh. I dig the country store they have here. They sell everything you could imagine from jams, spreads, syrups, and other baked goods. The service is always ready with a smile. Skip the coffee. It's just not that good.

Yelp
Whenever we head out to the flea markets in Shipshewana, we always stop at Rise'n Roll on the way back. I'm not lying when I say they have the best donuts I've ever had in my life. I look forward to it every year, and they are always super busy. Make sure you go at the right time because they may be sold out of their popular items towards the end of the day. Great atmosphere, great staff, and great food. Love it.

Yelp
Donut and coffee were delicious . Have all kinds of delicious baked goods and ham salad was delicious

Yelp
Stopped here on a whim. They have the regular type Amish bakery. And they do serve lunch. I was in the mood for some thing. Just not sure what. I worked my way up to the case and they had homemade punczi's and that what I got. I arrived late so I missed some of the flavors. Missed chocolate and lemon. I did get Carmel Bavarian. Which was very good! And highly recommend! There were a handful of people eating lunch and shopping. It's a typical Amish bakery. Nothing fancy but very efficient.

Yelp
Great donuts, fresh and delicious. Probably the best Boston cream donut I've ever had. And they had raspberry pie!!! Definitely would make a point to go there if I'm in town again.

Yelp
We love this place. We in Shipshawanna in the fall 3 years ago. They had some type of maple donut. Usually not a huge maple fan but the donuts were delicious. Today we wanted a light lunch ( we are not big on buffets) so we stopped in and had a chicken bacon ranch sandwich. Best choice. I was not a fan of the potato salad but my husband enjoyed it. We bought a cherry fry pie but have not tried it yet.

Yelp
THE place for Amish "crack" donuts. Wow! Plus homemade fudge and many other verboten goodies.

Yelp
This is a decent place for a quick bite, especially if you want a donut or sweet roll. I recommend their "famous" cinnamon donut. Also- try the cold coffee with Maine from the cooler. If you have to eat gluten-free, there are a few decent salad options though. Nothing spectacular.

Yelp
Donuts. Donuts. Donuts. Just get the donuts and eat them in your shame filled car while you wash it down with some coffee. Just do it. Donuts. It all about the donuts.
google avatar

Yelp
Very friendly staff. Very clean facility. Delicious sandwiches (ham and cheese) and the best donuts.

Melani R.

Yelp
Staff is pleasant and patient (with so many Yummy options, it's tough to choose). The treats are out of this world goodness, very fresh. I'm so happy they decided to open up this store for convenience instead of having to drive to Shipshewana for a donut or two or a boxful.

Yelp
We always enjoy their donuts! In the past two weeks we stopped by mid Morning for breakfast & also called ahead to pick up a half dozen donuts in the afternoon. We tried the sausage roll and it was delicious! It doesn't necessarily *look* appetizing- but you should definitely try it anyway!

Yelp
We love the Amish community!! What a great place to start our trip: great service, large menu with drinks, lunch, breakfast, and bakery treats. I had the lemon blueberry donut which was full of juicy blueberry filling and lemon filling around it topped with a glaze. My mom had the popular cinnamon carmel donut which she said was amazing. Emma had the chocolate cherry one which had a chocolate frosting and had a cherry filling. Will be coming back tomorrow to get some more before returning home!

Yelp
The Amish bakers here have created what are hands-down the very best donuts on the planet. It's difficult to describe--you just have to experience them for yourself and you'll be hooked. (We call them "Amish crack" in our family, ha ha). It's been several years since we've last been through here (moved to another state) but whenever we pass through we make sure to stop--including last week. And it's not just about the crack donuts either: Danishes, pies, coffee...it's all amazing!

Yelp
I hate to give a bad review but I also hate to waste money on bad food. I went to this place several times and the pastries were first rate-delicious This last time however those same pastries were absolutely ghastly. The amount of sugar in them was over the top, not a lick of butter. I am guessing the recipe is mostly Crisco and sugar. I all the pastries away because the product was so bad. I know what happened, they changed their recipes and included cheaper ingredients. Now the product is beyond awful. Do not waste you money on such inferior food.
google avatar

James D.

Yelp
Fast paced. Not very customer friendly, checkers are actually pretty rude to people but they do make delicious treats. This is speaking for the Shipshewanna location.
google avatar

Cindi R.

Yelp
Maybe I was expecting too much. Their website said gluten free donut options!! Yeah....but it was frozen Katz brand you can buy in the grocery store but twice the price! Not so friendly or maybe just didn't feel like working today behind the counter worker reluctantly put the frozen Katz donuts in the microwave without ever smiling. Two are in our party said regular donuts were okay.

Yelp
Saw this place on yelp the night before and made a plan to get there when they open. Arrived shortly after they opened, at 0 dark 30, along with a few others that also looked like they just got out of bed. Went to the freezer and found a loaf of the sausage smoked bread, we'll get into that one later in our trip. Ordered a full sausage biscuit and gravy and picked out 6 doughnuts to go. You also get a free small coffee that is really good. Once we got back to the camper, we tried the sausage and biscuits they were oh so good to eat, perfect size for my wife and I to share. If you get the doughnuts, let me give you a word of advice. Don't OPEN THEM! They totally just disappear! All kidding aside, these are probably the best we "ever" had! I would have included a picture, but, we'll the box was empty. They were just that good! Lots to other goodie's in the store, from jellies to salsa, from lunch meat to cheeses. A very quaint generalish type of store. The ladies behind the counter are very friendly and helpful. If your in this section of Amish country, this is a must stop. Much more so then the Dutch Essen House. So much better quality of food at this place. Make no doubt about it, we will be back!

Yelp
The donut holes are amazing! The staff was so friendly and helpful.

Yelp
When in Amish country my internal radar goes off when I see a bakery. Gotta stop in and smell around. This place is bigger in the inside than you think from looking at it from the parking lot. The back half is all kitchen. The front half is a bakery/Amish goods/ dining area. Free samples are set up all around so do help yourself. There are samples of jelly, oatmeal bars, cheese dip, and of course donuts! There are rows of cookies, whoopie pies, cinnamon rolls, and donuts right in the middle of the store. Then there is a wall of jar foods, pasta, oatmeal bars, granola and a discount shelf of day olds. Ever heard of Amish Crack? It's the nickname for the caramel cinnamon donuts sold here. Supposedly these donuts are so delicious they become addictive. But, one must have a love of dry cake donuts with mostly cinnamon powder on top of a very thin layer of caramel. You don't even taste the caramel layer. The only clue is the gooey mess left inside the donut box. This donut comes in whole round donuts and also donut holes. But be warned, if you buy a box of either as the donuts are floating in way too much cinnamon powder! Gather up all your purchases and get in line. It may look long but the line moves quickly. You may purchase single bakery goodies from the cases along the checkout counter and also order lunch items. Remember to get your FREE small coffee with purchase.

Yelp
AMAZING! If my review had to be wrapped up in 1 word- AMAZING! I ordered the breakfast biscuit and My husband ordered a half order of biscuits and gravy and a sausage roll. Everything came out fast and hot! My only regret here was not buying ALL the goodies on the shelves! Why I didn't get a dozen donuts is just beyond me. They looked terrific and I had every intention of coming back the next day (Sunday) to buy it all! Silly me forgot they aren't open on Sunday's. I'll definitely be making a trip back!

Yelp
This is where you can find some of the worlds BEST donuts! I rarely eat donuts anymore now that I've passed 40 and my metabolism isn't the same....but I CAN NOT resist a Rise n Roll donut....SOOO GOOD they practically MELT in your mouth. I also love this location because there are free samples of all types of products around the store. I found some delicious canned goods - beets, salsa, jam, etc. Great gifts for people who are hard to buy for. YUM! You must try these donuts...if you dare!

Susan R.

Yelp
Dangerous place! Hard to get out of here without gaining calories! I've never had anything that wasn't delicious. Strong tendency to repeat! I am so glad that they have several locations now.
google avatar

Brandon C.

Yelp
Wow. I still don't understand what it is that makes their donuts mind blowingly good, but sometimes it's better that way. I was surprised by how many things they sell here and how amazing it all is. I bought popcorn, jam, cheese, and a freshly made sandwich. Highly recommend it all! If you come here and don't get donuts though you're doing it wrong

Kerri M.

Yelp
This business just keeps growing! It's an impressive bakery discovered by all the tourists out of the area that come to Shipshewana to have a taste of what we who live in the area call the "Amish crack " donut! They are like angels on your tongue- very fine cinnamon and powdered sugar on a raised donut. The kind of baked good you dream about and will rise and get rolling to have for breakfast- get there early- they sell out fast!
google avatar

Jamie W.

Yelp
I've had many donuts in my day and none of them seem to beat my obsession with Rise'n Roll, maybe it'll happen one day but for now I still rate these some of the best donuts in the area. Locally we call their original caramel glazed donuts "Amish crack" because they are so addictive and have a distinct powdery cinnamon-powdered sugar coating. Recently I tried their Mocha filled donut and it was delicious, in the fall the pumpkin filled donuts are great! Splurge on an ice-cream filled candy donut in the summer and it'll be one of the best ice cream treats you'll find in Michiana - they are super rich and can be shared! Donuts will run you between $1-2 each for a good-sized pastry. Personally I'm used to living in this area, I know that a lot of visitors frequent Rise'n Roll as a tourist attraction but for a local its our go-to donut place. They started in Middlebury and have spread out all over Indiana. The store is full of locally made jams, desserts, breads, cheeses, etc. that you can also purchase. A free cup of coffee is offered to every customer and they have a decent sized lunch menu as well.
google avatar

Yelp
The doughnuts are awesome!!! We found the counter ladies to be unfriendly and not patient at all with someone who has never been there. Aside from that, the baked goods are amazing!
google avatar

Yelp
Very wonderful and very habit forming. Excellent blend of powder sugar and cinnamon. A variety for those who are incapable of making a good first decision and sticking to it.

Yelp
5/5 because the cinnamon donut (or donut holes) are by far the best donut-y thing I've ever eaten in my life. Trust me, I've eaten a lot of that junk. I chaperoned a group of 50 seniors to Amish country in Indiana. This was one of the stops recommended by our tour guide, Bill. Coming from a guy who has lived in Middlebury his entire life, you've gotta trust what he says about what's tasty and what isn't. The shop was clean and well-maintainted. All things sweet are sold here and they even have a deli counter. You can order sandwiches to-go or to eat in the shop. The employees were Amish and so friendly. I bought a Pepsi for our bus driver and the woman at the cash register wondered how much I pay for the same bottle of pop in Chicago...I said, "at least twice as much as this." I left with a box of the the aforementioned donuts; 1 doz. for $8.99. I gave them to my husband to share with his coworkers. They were a hit. Rise 'n Roll is another must-stop if you're traveling around, near or through this area. Someone mentioned that Rise 'n Roll is now a franchise and that there's a location in Chicago, butI have yet to see this for myself. Items are moderately priced, but way more reasonable than what you'll pay in Chicagoland. Also, check-out the bargain shelves near the entrance. Lots of good deals here.

Yelp
Headed here after going to the Shipshewana Market today. We got a heads up from a lady we met a church last Sunday and wanted to try it. The place is a very large building with a small area designated to sit down food consumption. We ordered our drinks and sandwiches and had about a 5 minuite wait until it was in front of us. The sandwich tasted good but it was very lean when it came to the amount of meat that was on them. For what they charged there should of been two and a half times more meat on the sandwiches. The Ice Tea was good and the small bag of chips served with the lean sandwich were very good. The store was clean and neat and very organized. The lady who cleaned our table and was working the cash register was a super nice person. I'll tell y'all to take a pass on this spot. I kinda feel bad for all of these spots because they can't compete with Hobo's down home. Sorry!! Hobo's set a standard in my mind and for my tastebuds that has to be met.

Tammy R.

Yelp
The BEST donuts. Oh my! The staff is super friendly and helpful. The friendly chatter between employees make it seem they like to work there and to work with each other. Don't pass by the Rise'n Roll without stopping.

S B.

Yelp
I've never had better donuts or pies. The ham salad is outstanding as is everything they make in house
google avatar

Jeff N.

Yelp
Had samples around small shop. The samples were all good but the doughnut samples are right at the cash register causing a cluster of people making it confusing where the line is. I picked up some smoked cheddar and ask for six doughnuts. The young man at the register said I could get a box off the shelf in the store, the doughnuts are literally in a case at his knee. I paid and went to get the doughnuts, the boxes are not marked you just have to guess. Of course I got the wrong doughnuts, some of the doughnuts look alike. This could have been avoided if he had just put 6 doughnuts in a box, he had to get a box to ring it up.

Yelp
Would go 5 stars if other breakfast options available and coffee is well , meh. Don't miss the caramel apple cinnamon powdered sugar donut, AWESOME! Apple fritters are pretty good too. Usual Middlebury/Shipshewana goods...peanut butter, breads, pies. Go here for the donuts!
google avatar

Deborah S.

Yelp
The cinnamon caramel sugar donuts/donut holes are locally nicknamed crack for a reason - they are addictive. They are good fresh and good a day old after the caramel has soaked in.
google avatar

Julie S.

Yelp
A Middleberry Must Go, They do have a breakfast and lunch menu. As always pleasant staff, pleasant setting. Very Family Oriemted.

Denise F.

Yelp
The best doughnut I ever had! The biscuits and gravy were OK. There were a bunch of people buying tons of doughnuts so we figured we were in the right place. They have lunches and lots of baked goods and jams to go with.
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
Yum! The toasted coconut covered doughnuts even had filling! First time to have their doughnuts. Very good
google avatar

Tina M.

Yelp
Stopped here for a quick snack these women were rude!! Bought a couple rolls and left won't be back
google avatar

Lori D.

Yelp
Wow! A piece of heaven! Doughnuts are the best I've ever had anywhere. Blew me away how light, fluffy and delicious they were.
google avatar

Randy J.

Yelp
If you like extremely rich, and sweet donuts this is the place to go. They also serve limited choices of breakfast and lunch items. You can also find a wide array of canned goodies such as relishes, salsas, Amish peanut butter, jams etc. If you decide to get something to eat while you visit, be sure to ask for your complementary cup of coffee.
google avatar

Jaime W.

Yelp
Deliciousness!!! The caramel cinnamon donut is to die for. If you go here for one reason only, make it this donut or TWO! My husband and I ended up going twice during our four day stay in this area. They also have lots of items for purchase such as jams, pies, cookies, cheese, bread, etc. Great stop! I'll be dreaming about this donut for months!
google avatar

Emily B.

Yelp
Great place for breakfast. Everything is delicious. Doughnuts, pies, and cookies are awesome. We always buy a bunch of cookies from here when we have friends or family com into town. They never disappoint!
google avatar

Dan H.

Yelp
The coffee is free and there exists no thing on Earth that equals the taste of their original cinnamon caramel donuts, so go forth and eat here. Any distance traveled or any hardship encountered will be instantly forgotten upon ingestion of their donuts, pastries and coffee. They have a full menu so you can eat any kind of breakfast you want (they are as well known for their sandwiches, breads and pies as their donuts and pastries). A little out of the way but worth it!

Yelp
While staying on a mini vacation I knew we had to visit Rise and Roll since it was so close to where we were staying. It get so much hype and kuddos I was anticipating mouth watering pastries and great atmosphere. I am positive it was all the excitement lead to my extreme let down. It's a good size building with enough parking for everyone. Today it was pretty busy. Walking in I was a little confused. It's also a small canned food items like pickles etc. then there are dining room tables and then a cold case fridge that has cold items and then the small donut shelf and counter. I guess you come here to either have a meal or just order their all famous caramel cinnamon doughnuts. I've never tried one so when I saw they had samples I tasty a piece. I am not a doughnut fan but these were extremely soft, moist, huge? And the topping is pretty delish. But still not enough for us to order a dozen. The small donut display near the counter holds maybe 10 varieties of these circular morsels but nothing looked good to us. The line to get one is rather confusing because you place your food and doughnut or Oder in the same line. Here's the thing tho the menu is mainly salads soups and sandwiches. Two pages and that's all. It is more of a deli than anything. No one greets you to sit down so you just hope to find a good spot. Prepare to eat with strangers because these are benches there was a waitress but I believe she's just there to clean up. All in all it takes awhile to figure out the layout. It's a little on the crazy side and poor planning. There are too many people that are ordering that the other guests has to excuse themselves and chance people getting irritated. We didn't eat there because I have picky kids and we don't eat sandwiches. In my opinion I wouldn't go back but it does appeal to many midwestern folks.

Yelp
The GREATEST bakery on planet earth. Nuff said. BEST cinnamon donuts you will EVER eat, best ice cream yes ICE CREAM DONUT you will ever eat, best cinnamon roll you will ever eat. Just best ever. If you're from Chicago you may be under the impression you've had great desserts. You simply HAVEN'T until you've been here, and ALL the donut stores from Drop Donuts, Stan's Donuts, Firecake Donuts, Donut Vault, Chicago Bakery, and every other donut place are NOTHING compared to this place. I feel sorry for your stomach and your life if you've never had real desserts like this. BUT look out for the benches in the eating area, they're kinda unsafe and act like a teeter totter! It's fun and memorable to have almost flipped a whole table over, but someone can get hurt!!! You HAVE NOT tried great, fresh donuts until you eat Amish desserts. Amazing people, BETTER in heart, body, spirit, and mind than the majority of ignorant modern day people. Want to know why your ignorant? Come here to slow down your pointless fast paced lifestyle (or no paced lifestyle for the lazy) sometime
google avatar

Yelp
A must stop. We will be back. Lots of samples to try before you buy. Nice bakery and lots of other items including gluten free.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the BEST bakery I've ever been to. The selection of jams, jellies, etc is phenomenal!! Some must try's: the apple and pumpkin butter, cheese spread, and the caramel cinnamon donuts!!!

Sarah K.

Yelp
This place is a must. The best donuts. Amazing fresh rolls of cheese and and butter. Quality that it hard to find these days! Glad they are still doing it right.
