The prices here are affordable, but we ended up waiting a little over an hour for our food. I ordered the açaí bowl for $15, and it was pretty small for the price. My boyfriend got the PR bowl, but it was a bit underwhelming since the meat-to-rice ratio was off. My friends got the sandwich and plate, which were pretty good. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re in a hurry, but the restaurant had great vibes and the staff were really nice.

Google
Great spot! Delicious breakfast tacos with guacamole and bacon, and good coffee! Highly recommend the bacon and eggs grilled cheese also. The employees were really helpful and friendly. We probably waited 20 minutes on the porch before sitting as they were quite busy and the patio was closed due to rain.

Google
Food took about 45min, they don’t have a great big commercial kitchen, so be ready to wait. It is a very nice and clean restaurant and staff is very professional. Live music on Saturdays. All the food was good, my potato/plantain mashup was cold, other than that all food and alcohol drinks at 9am were great. Food is pricey for some of the more simple dishes. Example, The french toast we grab for the kiddo is not worth the price. I would gladly pay premium of other dishes on the menu. Great clean bathrooms which is always a plus when traveling with kids. Atmosphere is really nice, it weren’t so early I would have stayed drinking 🇵🇷

One of the best brunches we have had in PR! The backyard was amazing. Ice latte was unsweetened and sweet cream coffee was too sweet - mixing them together was perfect :) Está bien bueno ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟 The sandwich was amazing! My partner said it tastes really familiar but really great! Plantain Board ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was similar to an avocado toast, but the plantain was tasty. We had it original - maybe adding meat would be better.

This spot is a fantastic option for breakfast. Although there's often a wait, it's definitely worth it. The food is incredible, and I especially loved their fresh soursop juice. My favorite dish is called “él de aquí,” featuring sautéed veggies, potatoes, and sweet plantains that are simply delicious. I highly recommend it and will return whenever I'm in Vieques. P.S. One suggestion would be to have a chalk or whiteboard for guests to write down their names and table sizes, which would help with organization while waiting.

We had a great brunch and fun time eating at Rising Roost! We were waiting around for the ferry and wanted to eat somewhere nice before we left and the food was amazing here! I had the lobster and beans bowl with tostones. So rich, buttery and flavorful! My wife had the burrito which was huge and also very tasty. The sweet cream coffee is very nice and reminded me of vietnamese coffee and likely is the same but with different coffee beans. Plus we came at the perfect time to sit outside in the back of the restaurant and listen to some live music! The musicians were very friendly and even came to our table to show us their instruments and talk about how they were made. Next time we are in Vieuqes we will return for sure!

Google
We loved this place - we spent about two hours here one morning just enjoying the food and atmosphere. The outdoor patio is enchanting and they sell the BEST jewelry inside as well (seriously i wanted to buy every single piece). The crepes were divine, the breakfast sandwich was amazing, and the service made us feel right at home!

Google
We sat at the bar and the bartenders were so kind and great at service! Latte and cappuccinos were amazing, and we both had the clasico and it was very good, plus a decent amount of food. Would highly recommend!

Yelp
When we arrived in Vieques a little bit earlier than our room would be ready, our guesthouse hosts recommended Rising Roost for breakfast, and it exceeded all expectations. All of the ingredients were so fresh, and it was a standout during our time on the island. We loved it so much that we went twice! Both times, I got the breakfast sandwich which blew me away. I can't say enough about how incredible the local bread was. We had to get the French toast the second time just because it was made with this bread. My friend had the shrimp bowl, and she couldn't stop raving about it. I tried both the iced coffee with condensed milk (can't remember the exact name) and an iced oat milk latte, while my friend opted for a cortadito -- all of these drinks, made with local coffee, impressed us. The water was ice cold and always filled to the brim by the friendly waitstaff. The outdoor patio was charming, and saw a mix of locals, tourists and wildlife. Rising Roost was the perfect way to start and end our trip to Vieques. If you're in search of a breakfast or brunch restaurant, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Greeted with smiles from the servers to the bar tenders to the owners. It has a grandmas house appeal with some subtle modern touches. The service was excellent, just remember island time is real. Even though it was breakfast the food presentation was amazing. The bread used in the French toast was beyond incredible along with the house made syrup/maple mix. The meat in the taco was tender and packed full of delicious flavor. Coffee was incredible as well, had to order one to go. If we are so lucky as to return soon this will be our breakfast spot!

Yelp
Amazing food and service! The staff was short on the particular day we went but our waitress was very sweet. The food and drinks were amazing. Definitely recommend for anyone who visits the island.

Yelp
After trying the infamous Rising Roost in Vieques, I'll always miss this food. There's always a wait, however it is SO worth it. This breakfast restaurant has such cute decor, where the owner has special pieces that were gifted to her on the walls. The coffee was so earthy and perfectly made, where it was simple but divine. The classic breakfast, although sounding basic, was absolutely delicious. I'm not sure how they made the fried eggs, but it hit the spot. The buttery toast added points to this dish. The PR bowl with spam and plantains was my favorite dish. Everything in the dish complemented each other, with a good balance of sweet and savory. The RR bowl is a good choice if you like Mexican food, where there's beans, avocado and pico de gallo. I would wait as long as possible to enjoy this brunch again. 10/10 come here!

Yelp
My wife and I came here on our last morning in Vieques before returning our rental jeep. The service and food were amazing! I had the El Clasico and my wife had the french toast. The homemade hash browns were delicious! Highly recommend this spot for breakfast. Ask for David (Da-veed). He will make you feel like family.

Yelp
We just had a wonderful breakfast here... from their sweet cream coffee to omelettes, freshly fried plantain chips, all kinds of vegetables as well as guacamole... it was hard to choose, but we loved our choices. After this breakfast, I'm happy to wait for dinner later on!!

Yelp
A FANTASTIC spot for breakfast in Vieques. We actually heard from a friend that sometimes this place has a line outside the door. Thankfully it wasn't tremendously busy when we went but I can totally see why this place is popular. I ended up getting the avocado toast with fresh squeezed OJ and it was such a delight! The art around the restaurant (both indoor and outdoor) was very cool, and the staff were all super chill. 10/10, would def go back! I'm not a big coffee person, but my friend who ordered the cafecito said it was great! She actually wanted to buy the mix of coffee they had out there she liked it so much.

Yelp
I got the tamarind juice and El Bote Marino, which was delicious. The shrimp and lobster was so fresh and the sandwich was so good. It low-key reminded me of a lobster roll. I thought the tamarind juice was a bit sweet for me but one of my dining companions loved it and drank it so fast. The service was great - they were understaffed and let us know while we were waiting that the wait would be long but the food would be good and they very much delivered. The outdoor space where we ate was also cute. I think the manager or owner also so graciously and patiently handled persistent, rude tourists who wouldn't respect that they weren't accepting any more seatings.

Yelp
This is our first time in Vieques. Rising Roost is just 2 houses down from where we are staying . We went there this morning for coffee to take out and ended up getting a breakfast sandwich as well !! The staff is very friendly and welcoming . The lattes are perfection and the sandwich was incredibly delicious . The lovely space is cozy , airy and inviting and decorated beautifully . We will be going back daily for the rest of our stay !

Yelp
Omg I felt like I was in paradise cafe/restaurant amazing dish the coffee was the bomb yummy food everybody so welcoming staff all the place is beautiful.

Yelp
Food was delicious, very friendly staff, and cute patio to sit out on! We got the lobster bowl, PR bowl, and an iced vanilla latte

Alexandra G.

Yelp
The food is amazing and the waitstaff was so sweet. We had members of our party who were gluten free and vegetarian and both found plenty of food. They sat people very slowly so if you get there after 9am there will be a slow moving line. But that did mean when you were seated your food came out quickly. Everything we had was perfect. Or order included: lechon tacos, veggie omelet, plantain board, their taco special of the day, green drinks, coffee. Highly recommend

Yelp
Best breakfast in town. I love their delicious and unique menu items. Service is always great. Super friendly staff and they speak English.
google avatar

Yelp
The ambience is great, good music, relaxed energy. Everyone is amazing, they always have a smile for you and the service they provide is outstanding. The best coffee in Vieques BY FAR! If you meet Bambú, give him some of your food!!!

Yelp
We came to Rising Roost after an early flight to Vieques, and loved sitting outside in the back patio. True to the name there were chickens out and about too. We had great service, our waitress was very friendly, and our food was good too. They have plenty of bar options but we didn't order anything to drink aside from coffee. We were well taken care of the entire time but food is clearly made to order and I wouldn't expect to get a quick bite here. It's a great spot to relax, so I'd recommend for an island breakfast, but not if in a rush.
google avatar

Yelp
This is "the" breakfast spot in this part of vieques. Came with a friend who lives here locally and we waited ~20 min for seating. We were seated in their outside patio area, super cute and plenty of shade. The açaí bowl is deeeeelicious, I would highly recommend. Drinks were excellent as well. Staff were bilingual and very friendly! I would recommend this spot:) Wear bug spray as there are a lot of mosquitos lol. Ps. My favorite thing about this restaurant is that they feed the town kitties by leaving 4 kitty food bowls out hehe.
google avatar

Yelp
Great service and wonderful food and great coffee! Definitely best coffee in Vieques!

Heather A.

Yelp
I wish I had found this place earlier! Food was incredible and service was perfect. The outdoor patio was charming and the coffee was perfect. I had the breakfast tacos and the pico de gallo was the best I've had! The eggs were so fluffy and the homemade corn tortillas really hit the spot. Highly recommend for a lovely breakfast in town.

Yelp
The server David was very attentive, kind, and informative. The hostess was so accommodating and friendly as well. The restaurant has great drink options too. The breakfast was so phenomenal we had to come back twice. Everything is cooked to perfection and their salsa picante is well done. Honestly, this place is a must have if you are on Vieques. Personally, I believe it deserves a Michelin star. The place is clean and comfortable with a definite Caribbean vibe.

Jaime S.

Yelp
Outstanding service accompanied with great brunch. Deducted one star for the long wait outside. Great ambiance, laid back vibe (maybe contributing to long outside wait?). Everything ordered was outstanding, an extra A+ for the cafe con leche! I highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Dave H.

Yelp
This place looks great from the outside and would appear to check all the boxes you'd want in a local vacation breakfast place. But... the wait time. (I'll preface by saying that we were warned it would be longer than usual due to staffing issues). For a party of 5, with three breakfast sandwiches, a breakfast burrito and a guacamole toast, the food took about 1.5 hours. There were times looking around that no other table had food. Overall we spent over 2 hours here for breakfast. Still, once the food came it was outstanding. Like really, really good. Big portions and tasty! Home made bread, fresh ingredients. Glad we waited but if you're in any kind of hurry this is not your place. I'd add a half star to my 3 star rating (Yelp doesn't allow me to do that) and will round up to a gentlemen's 4. 5 for food and ambience and 1 for wait time.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place by chance while in Vieques! This food was amazing. Everything felt freshly made. Every individual component treated with care and attention, down to the seasoning of the rice in my bowl and butter on my partners toast. I had some sort of rice bowl with black beans, egg, avocado and tortilla chips. It was basic, but tasty. My partner ordered a hash with bacon, eggs, and toast. She particularly loved the bread, claiming it was perfectly crispy on the edges but light in the middle. The service was attentive and kind! Would absolutely return if given the chance. Would recommend.
google avatar

Courtney E.

Yelp
Thank you for an amazing breakfast and start to our day. The RR bowl is so good! I only ate about 1/2 the rice, and it was super filling and flavorful. The pico de gallo, guac, and cheese tasted so fresh. My partner came for the hash browns and was happy with them. He got the classic breakfast with bacon and ate every bite. Coffee was good, no free refills but I think that's an island thing. We plan to come back later this week. Do not miss Rising Roost when in Vieques.

Yelp
Amazing! We've been there twice for breakfast. Pros: - Bilingual, friendly staff (Spanish & English) - Breezy Indoor & Outdoor seating - Staff wear masks Our favorites: - Shrimp omelette ($19) - Roasted pork tacos ($14.50) - Legit best pork tacos ever - French toast ($9) Honorable mentions: - Classic ($11) - Burrito ($13) - Breakfast sandwich ($9) Notes: - Jamonilla = Spam - Also, if you get drinks, your order is going to get crazy expensive. Coffee is in a tiny cup and $3 each. I just got water, and it tasted fine.

Yelp
Hipster coffee and brunch spot right beside the vieques ferry terminal abt 5 min walk. We stopped by before our ferry back to main land. The coffee is served in ceramic ware that was a welcome change from all the paper cup vending coffee spots these days. The backyard seating area is pretty with roosters and art. We were seated promptly and served. Also took the PR bowl To go for our drive to El yunque rain dorest. Was delicious with sweet plantains and jamonilla.

Yelp
Amazing fresh juice, draft beer, and avo toast. Be sure to get the green hot sauce which makes the dish. They sell it too! Friendly staff and lovely ambiance.

Yelp
I had breakfast at Rising Roost last week on Wednesday morning. It is located on the main street of Isabel II and is easy to find with its red colored building. Your parking options are on the street only. It opens at 8 am (check days) and if you want to eat earlier just remember that you are on "island time" here. Inside they have a large and airy dining room and then outdoor dining in their back yard. Occasionally a house cat will walk through inside and I think there are a couple of roosters in the backyard. I ordered the Classic Breakfast for $10. For some reason with only 2 other diners it still took 25 minutes for my meal to arrive. It consisted of two eggs (my style), hash browns, bacon and bread. This meal was very good taste wise and filling. Table service was friendly and attentive. I recommend coming here for breakfast while visiting Vieques.

Jonathan G.

Yelp
Our favorite spot in town. Food is absolutely fantastic and coffee and lattes were amazing. Wonderful service and beautiful setting. Orders take a little longer than some other places but a nice place to relax. Not a spot to miss!!
google avatar

Yelp
We arrived very early on Vieques and were desperate for coffee. Luckily, Rising Roost not only makes delicious coffee, but also has a wonderful breakfast menu and a cozy (and shady!) outdoor seating space. Really helpful and friendly staff. Absolutely perfect way to start your day exploring the island!

Yelp
BEST COFFEE & BREAKFAST IN VIEQUES. I was pleasantly surprised to find "big city quality" espresso drinks in little Vieques but Jose is an excellent barista who uses good quality coffee. Opt for the fresh squeezed orange juice with your breakfast. The oranges they use are wonderfully sweet. The food is prepared well with obvious attention to detail. The friendly owners Jose & Luz are obviously foodies have created a restaurant that has elevated the Vieques breakfast scene. For the full Vieques experience try a cocktail made with Vieques orange rum. Truly special.
google avatar

Kate A.

Yelp
BEST place to get breakfast on the island. Healthy, CLEAN and local ingredients... you can't go wrong here. PS: the sour dough bread is a must!
google avatar

Cheyenne V.

Yelp
Wow!!!!! Amazing service, ambiance and food! I ordered the El de aqui and my gf got the RR bowl. Laidback boho vibes with delicious food. Could not recommend enough, muy sabrosa!
google avatar

Preeti R.

Yelp
First stop in Vieques. Headed here straight from the ferry for some coffee and breakfast. There was a short wait but it moved quickly. Cappuccino and cortadito was terrific, the barista did a great job. We got the acai bowl and the RR bowl for food, made with local ingredients. Everything was fresh and the RR bowl was filling but nothing outstanding. I was really excited for the acai bowl on the island and was disappointed when the food arrived, it was a really small portion for the price and the description said local island fruits, all I got was kiwi. I have had better acai bowls in California. Maybe stick to their popular menu options.

Bryan N.

Yelp
Best breakfast I've had anywhere in quite sometime. The lechon breakfast quesadilla was incredible. Try the house-made hot sauce.
google avatar

Mark A.

Yelp
Pleasant staff, 100% prioritizes locals over tourists. We watched as they consistently served residents seated well after we arrived. We waited over an hour for eggs & hash, while others sat 30 minutes after us, got their food, finished and left. We were anticipating island time, but if they told us it'd take over an hour, we would have gone elsewhere. Would recommend the local bakery, or even D'Frozzo across the street, that's an ice cream / coffee shop, but also serves full breakfast. The food was good, but definitely not worth the wait.
google avatar

Carrie P.

Yelp
Sustainable food/farm to table...Best breakfast in Vieques. Service was great and had the best ambiance. Reasonable prices and delicious coffee: go there! Have an endearing patio out back if you prefer to sit outside. The staff asked us to move inside due to rain and made accommodations.
google avatar

Matthew G.

Yelp
This gorgeous establishment is a unique, boutique breakfast stop with exceptional atmosphere, excellent coffee and above average food. Unfortunately, the service does not meet the same standard. Our experience was disappointing as the food took over an hour to arrive, with some of our dishes cold to the touch. We also waited extremely long stretches of time for water and for drinks. We watched as several tables ordered, got drinks, got food, paid the check and left before we had been served. We thought they had forgotten about our order so we asked the manager, who was quite indignant that the wait was because they were short staffed, and that she had warned us of this. It took another ten minutes to bring the check, seemingly out of spite. I would not go back as I was made to feel like an unwelcome tourist.
google avatar

Char M.

Yelp
This spot has the BEST breakfast/ brunch on the island--- from the atmosphere, ambiance, hospitality, drinks, and food! Everyone is so sweet there which makes it that better of an experience. Food is mouth-watering from the pictures but it is even better IRL. Can't wait for tomorrows breakfast! This is definitely must go!!! Can't go wrong with their menu!
google avatar

Olivia C.

Yelp
I went here for takeout but in hindsight I would have ate there because of the nice ambience! The inside part of the restaurant is very open and has a patio feel, in addition to an actual outdoor eating area in the back. The food was delicious- we got the breakfast tacos, breakfast burrito w/ bacon, and guacamole which tasted house made. Everything was super yummy, flavorful, and seemed like farm-to- table. Staff was friendly and service was good as they continued to bring me water as I sat and waited for my food. When you're only on the island for a short amount of time and want to experience the best eats, it can be hard to weed out the touristy places that aren't worth it. So I'd put this place on your itinerary and don't miss it!
google avatar

Nick N.

Yelp
While we were on the lovely island of Vieques we went straight there after getting off the ferry to have breakfast. Sat outside on a nice Saturday morning and had a wonderful breakfast, two eggs, pan de aqua toasted and potatoes with sweet plantains. So good we went back on Sunday. Sunday I had the special "Dominican" breakfast and wow it was great. Mashed plantains with garlic, topped with grilled onions with two eggs and Dominican sausage. When we go back to visit Vieques we will eat here again.
google avatar

Steph W.

Yelp
We were there very close to 8am and were one of the first patrons there. We ordered the food and were left waiting as others after us got their food. Apparently, our orders were never put in! We were hoping to get an early start to the day but alas did not. The RR bowls were tasty and enjoyed the laid-back ambiance. Staff were extremely friendly and spoke very good English.

Jennifer P.

Yelp
Place is adorable. Drinks and food great! Servers friendly .However the over an hour wait after placing order was a killer. Ruined our whole experience and put a damper on the day. Though it was obvious to me many customers seemed unhappy while the manager was clearly trying to normalize it, when its not normal. I get island time but this was on another level. Such a shame!! Also the line outside is not a reflection of table availability. I suggest eating a little something before you go.
google avatar

Joe C.

Yelp
It took 60 minutes for our order of two entrees to arrive; not exaggerating. The table next to us ordered after us and got their two entrees 20 minutes before us. Food tasted good, nothing amazing. Serving size is small and we were left unsatisfied and still a little hungry. The staff was friendly. Definitely not worth spending $40 for two unfulfilled meals that takes 60 minutes to be served.
google avatar

Jack N.

Yelp
Food is good, but unremarkable. Highish prices and Brooklynesque vibe. I had the RR Bowl and a coffee. Both were just fine. The RR Bowl was rice-heavy, though it was good rice. The pique was akin to a vinegar-based pepper sauce you can get in the states. The staff were very friendly and helpful, which is why I give it four stars. This was basically our first stop after getting off the ferry, and a server had helpful ideas for things to do and places to eat and see in this low season (September), when a lot is closed. I appreciated their friendliness and the cute pets they had hanging around.
google avatar

Felipe P.

Yelp
100% Amazing! This diamond is a must go to! Your taste buds will sing. We ordered the RR Bowl and it brought tears to my eyes. I know Puerto Rican's aren't known for guacamole nor tortilla chips, but this is not the typical mom and pops restaurant. We'll be back. Service is top notch.
google avatar

Jackie V.

Yelp
Short on staff but not on service! Rising Roost was friendly and accommodating. The outdoor upper deck is super chill and cute. We had iced lattes, a yogurt bowl and acai bowl. All was delicious and we look forward to returning for a hot meal so soon.
google avatar

Angela Q.

Yelp
Really nice ambiance and delicious food! We ordered French toast, yogurt bowl with almond butter, and ice coffee. Yogurt bowl is more of a small bite portion so if you are looking for a filling breakfast would order something else with it!
google avatar

Annette R.

Yelp
This place is just a gem!!!!! I highly encourage you to visit this places and try the Mimosas and especially the Lolomosas. We were a group of 10 people and they were able to accommodate us and the service was so great. The place is very cozy and servers are amazing. Owner is always pending and giving recommendations, she even went above and beyond to help us find some natural coconut water on the island. Food was soooo great. I tried the lobster tacos and "el de aqui", my husband tried the pork tacos and one of the sandwiches. Our friends tried different things from the menu from the açaí to omelettes and everything was wonderful. Coffee and fresh juices were also delicious. Everything was simply amazing! Make sure you go and visit them!

Yelp
This might not just be the breakfast spot in Vieques, but in all of Puerto Rico. Greatest quality, well balanced flavors, full of puertorican breakfast, heavy and light options, all locally sourced. My bf and I go there every single time we go to Vieques
