Rising Sun Surf Inn

What a great little hostel! It is literally 1 minute from the train station so very easy to get to. It is the perfect get away from the fast pace of Taipei. I loved falling asleep to the sound of the waves. Wai'ao is small and there are really only 2 places to eat but if you are there for the surf and sand that is all you really need. Staff were very friendly and helpful and there is a cute dog named Tortilla! Perfect place for surfers and backpackers.

I really enjoyed my stay here! I called 45 minutes before arriving and asked if they had a bed available on a whim and they were super friendly and inviting and said it would be no problem! The beach is also like right outside the door which is awesome! Some people have said in the comments that the beach where the hostel is is just all rocks but there's no rocks like literally 25 steps to the right of the hostel. Take a chill pill. Their food is super yummy too! Stay here! You'll love it!

What a place! Initially wanted to stay there for pnly 2 nights but ended up staying there 9 days! Candy (the Boss) took good care about us and made us feel like a part of their hostel-family! The other staff is great as well :) The hostel is directly on the beach which nearly every day had good waves to surf! Honestly, I never had such a great and welcoming experience in a hostel - you will love it! Thanks guys, you are awesome

Stayed here many times and always really enjoyed it. The Hostel atmosphere is very relaxed and the location is great since the hostel is just next to the beach where you can also do surfing. Staff is friendly and always helpful. oh, also the food you can order is very decent. And Tortilla (dog) is really cute (says my girlfriend).

Unfriendly service and bad location . Travelled with a big company with kids, went with my friend to order a lunch there. Got very unfriendly greeting :" GO out and wash your feet !" 😲They all saw we shook off as we could our feet from sand and we did not see any water hose near the entrance . Well, I do look Asian but my Chinese is not that good , first they told us in Chinese then in English to go out . We went out confused , and start looking for water pipe . There was one german speaking tourist there , he ran out after us to show us where to go. But as you understand after such greeting we lost appetite .....So can't say much about food or facilities , but location is not good if you want swim or surf . It's mostly area with rocks and stones .

The one and only, legendary, must see. Makes you wanna move to beach. Dont miss to visit under any circumstances. Friendliest place on the planet. Endorfins, adrenaline, love, passion, socially responsible and environmental friendly (not Gretalike, I mean real). Kids friendly animal friendly, and people friendly. Warning: Addictive af,, will stay in your blood for a long time. Distance to beach 2M, distance to best Pizza in Taiwan 25 meters, distance to best mango smoothie with vodka 10 meters.

Great hostel with really awesome people. Clean bed and bathroom. Surfboards, etc. to rent. The hostel has American food meals for $4-5usd that are pretty good. There aren't too many other food options right nearby. The night market requires a very cheap train ride. The train station is a two min walk.

The staff was friendly and accommodating. It's one of the only places I so where you can get an interesting selection of food and drinks in Wai'ao. I also took their surf lessons and had an amazing time! Check me out!
